Sleeveless sweater watch: The dumbness of the whale!

More deep thoughts from Slate: Has Jacob Weisberg adopted a pen name? If so, is it Julia Felsenthal?

The following piece remains the number-one story sitting atop Slate’s front page, three days after posting. We cite the headlines which appear on that front page:
SIMPLY THE VEST
What does Rick Santorum’s love of sleeveless sweaters say about him—and us?
What does Santorum’s love of sleeveless sweaters say? About Felsenthal (and her editor), it seems to say that they are a pair of brainless pifflers.

What does it say about us? What does it say—the fact that we’ve tolerated this brand of inanity for at least the past fifteen years?

What does it say about us? We’d call that a very good question!

Tolerate it? What are you talking about? Who reads Slate anyway?

  2. Saw this on Slate. Wondered if you'd pick up on it. The writer missed the most obvious point, which is that the only people who wear sweater vests are insufferable douchebags. Santorum, for example.

  4. More in that vein, Gail Collins's efforts have gone viral: there's now a new verb, "to Romney", much like the noun Dan Savage debuted, "Santorum."

    What does "to Romney" mean?

Think Seamus, atop the car, and the poor creature's insides give way: Spreading Romney....
