Capehart makes us croak: It was 5:30 this morning when it occurred.
You heard it—5:30 A.M.!
Jonathan Capehart was guest-hosting the MSNBC program, Way Too Willie. He brought us gagging out of our bed when he started like this:
“Good morning, I’m Jonathan Capehart, in for the great Willie Geist.”
The children have started to do this. They refer to each other as “the great,” trying to buffalo you in the process. After that, they take turns heaping praise on each others’ books.
A very sketchy new elite is forming right before our eyes. We’ll advise you to check your brain cells when they start talking like this.
From now on, I want people to refer to me as "Calvin the Bold"
ReplyDeleteI, henceforth will be refered to as Bill the Thrill.
DeleteThis is part of today's basic pathology and can't really be blamed on one TV show. I seem to stump the geniuses every time I bring in my computer.
ReplyDeleteGad! to speak of the children in this context means that Joe Scabborough and Mika Brassiereski are the adults. Of course, Mike "Thanks for the Idea" Barnicle is handy to have around to sub during vacation season, like the superannuated greeters at Walmart and Grandy's.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't the Washington Post-News put Capehart's little blog in the "post-partisan" section? He seems perfectly partisan to me. (BTW, are we still in the post-modern era, or are we post-post-modern now? Darn, I never got around to understanding what post-modern meant.)
I hear "the great [Insert Name Here]" on sports radio whenever some NBA analysist, etc. is patched in on the phone to provide his or her views. I think the terminology is intended to be humorous and fun more than some sort of solemn affirmation of the individual's bona fides, in that, the great X, Y or Z is never spoken with any sort of gravatas. I think you can let this one go, and spend time worring about more important matters.
