We're returning to Einstein on Monday: Thanks to the Blows, the Marshalls, the Kings and the Taubs, it becomes increasingly clear—we actually can't have nice things.
Tomorrow, we'll return to Amanda Taub's attempt to say that over half the people in the U.S. are "authoritarians."
(Forty-four percent of white Americans are "high authoritarians!" So says Professor Taub, behaving much like the easily frightened people she describes in her endless Vox piece.)
Next Monday, we'll return to our award-winning seminar on The Culture of Incoherence. For those who are eager to read ahead, we incomparably offer these links:
In 1916, Einstein wrote his own Einstein-made-easy book. In the U.S., the book is in the public domain. You can read the whole thing here.
In 1920, Einstein's book was published in English for the first time. To read a 1920 review of the book in a American publication called The Weekly Review, you can just click this.
Three years later, the reviewer took his own life. (This was a tragedy, of course.) People, we're just saying.
We plan to return to these topics next week. Barring more trouble from King and Taub, Nova's recent Einstein-made-easy broadcast lies straight ahead.
To watch that hour-long program, click here. Like the hair of the werewolf at Trader Vic's, the visuals are perfect.
NEW! Now You Can Stop Your Interruptions, Bad Jounalism, Low Wage Low IQ Blogs and have nice thins in a new Pavilion..…Even If Your Regular Blogger Seems Hopeless! My blogger said he no longer loved me. He said I was dumb, dishonest and disliked. i was hurt and heart broken i felt like my life was about to end and I almost pushed Rachel Maddow out of the way and jumped of the George Washington Bridge. I was emotionally down for a very long time. Thanks to a spunky group of imaginary anaylsts which I meet online, on one faithful day, as I was browsing through the internet and I came across a lot of testimonies about this incoherence. Some people testified that they brought their old blogger back, some testified that he restored womb, cured cancer and other sickness, some testified that he can cmake Flint water drinkable again. I also come across one particular testimony and it was about a woman called Sonia, she testified about how he brought back her blogger in less than 2 days and at the end of her testimony she dropped blogger Bob from Baltimore a chaeck at his mail address. After reading all these,I decided to give it a try and I send Bob money. In just 48 hours, my blogger made me see things I had missed...intellectual culture collapsing, analysts tearing out their hair, dead Iraqi's and 90's crime victims spitting in journalist faces from their grves. If you have any problem and you are looking for solution to solve all your problems. Baltimore Bloggfeer Bob can also offer any types of help except marriage, child rearing, and income generation.
ReplyDeleteHilarious!!
DeleteWhen someone wants to buy a gun, there should be a waiting period and a mental health check. If the purchase is approved, there should be mandatory firearms training.
ReplyDeleteRead about the physicist who gave Einstein's book a glowing review.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Gordon_Webster
Will someone please explain why anyone should care about any of these physics-made-easy books?
ReplyDeleteBecause Bob, who started his series on incoherence recounting his bad grades in his major, thinks if it would be nice if someone wrote a book that could explain things way beyond his ability to comprehend.
DeleteI think it's sad that the Theory of General Relativity has become a wedge issue in this campaign.
DeleteHuffpo says Elizabeth Warren's agenda is in trouble, juxtaposed with a picture of Hillary -- as if she doesn't support Warren's agenda, followed by Kaitlyn Jenner saying negative stuff about Hillary. I hate Arianna Huffington. In the meantime, Bernie continues to lose the nomination. He somehow thinks demanding that Hillary release speech transcripts is doing something positive, beyond tearing down the Democratic frontrunner. What policy issue is being promoted by that? He is being a spoiler.
ReplyDeleteRight now he is leading in the state Hillary won in 2008 because everyone else followed the party rules and did not compete eight years ago.
DeleteResults from Detroit not in yet.
DeleteLAst I looked results from Detroit were in at the same level as the rest of the state.
DeleteBut say, wasn't it her uncontested margin from states everyone else stayed out of that allowed HRC supporters to claim she won the popular vote in 2008?

Uh, Bernie fans? Look at the delegate count tonight.
DeleteSanders is ahead by 2%. That's a squeaker. You can call it an upset but it looks a lot like a tie. It doesn't change Sanders delegate deficit. But hey, enjoy the moment.
DeleteI will, 12:15 AM.
DeleteAnd right back at ya.
Enjoy bringing Mississippi home in the GE.
Ha-fucking ha, 12:15 AM.
DeleteHow to support your team.
BTW, this isn't sports. There are repercussions to people, like the Clintons, winning powerful government positions; they have shown time and again they will side with the corporatists to screw over the citizens.
Don't forget to wear your full length raccoon coat, and bring your "Go Team Clinton" pennant to the guillotine party.
Boolah-Boolah!
Clinton voters thought she had it won so they crossed over to vote for Kasich against Trump in the Republican primary. That isn't exactly a win for Bernie.
DeleteThe longer Sanders is in the race, the better it is for Democrats in the general election. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either a fool or a conservative-operative troll.

DeleteLooks like the results in Michigan are going down like a glass of treated Flint River water with the Howler Hillary faction.
DeleteBecause something quite new and different is happening in this year's election cycle, and our brilliant and esteemed blogger his utterly baffled by it.
DeleteSo we return to the safety and security of Boxcar Bob's Greatest Hits.
Hate to offer a dose of reality, but Hillary doesn't need to win another primary. All she has to do is stay close.
Delete"It must be easy for Bernie Sanders to just give up on states he can't win, like Mississippi, and not even visit Mississippi, and instead outspend Hillary Clinton by massive amounts in Michigan for a very narrow victory, losing the night by over 125,000 total voters and 18 delegates while declaring victory."
Delete"Hate to offer a dose of reality, but Hillary doesn't need to win another primary. All she has to do is stay close."
DeleteSounds like the dose of reality Clinton supporters were rejecting from the Obama supporters in March of 2008.
Also sounds like a prescription for a celebration in November featuring Trump steaks, vodka, and wine.
Hate to offer a dose of reality, but it appears Michigan voters saw through Clinton's misrepresentation of Sanders's position on the auto bailout. This does little to enhance her image as untrustworthy headed into a general election contest.
DeleteCan you point to any exit poll that supports your statement?
DeleteDo you think she is trying to "enhance her image as untrustworthy"? Seems to me that is what you are trying to do.
The problem with Sanders is that he understands that the auto industry creates jobs and needs to survive, but he doesn't understand that the financial industry does the same thing. So he didn't support TARP because he didn't care whether the economy of New York and the ripple effect on the nation would ruin people's lives. If Michigan voters didn't get that either, they are being a bit self-focused, which is understandable in voters -- but not in a national candidate who is supposed to represent the nation's interests.
Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord.
DeleteBernie wanted to take vengeance on Wall Street. Punishing people, not fixing problems is his shtick. Tear down that wall [street] is his slogan.
Too many people getting rich off business? Well, business must be the problem -- never mind how our economy works. Why doesn't he address the problem of income inequality directly? I would guess it is because he doesn't know how. Easier to scapegoat one segment of the business sector -- not the people who manipulated our system to fraudulently line their pockets. Easier to destroy that segment than to fix it.
"Sanders's position on the auto bailout.."
DeleteHe was willing to cut off his nose to spite his face.
This is why he has no accomplishments to speak of in all his time in Congress. Incapable of governing in 50/50 country.
He is allowed to attack her for NAFTA, something she had no role in passing as she had no vote on the issue, while she is not allowed to point out a bad vote he made against the wishes of MI Democratic elected Senators and the Democratic President of the United States.
Because Bernie is pure.
"According to CNN, 58 percent of Democratic voters polled after casting ballots said they believe U.S. trade with other countries takes away U.S. jobs, compared with just 30 percent who said they believe it creates them. Among that group, Sanders won by a whopping 17-point margin: 58 percent to Democratic rival Hillary Clinton's 41 percent. He won the primary overall by less than a 2-point margin."
DeleteSanders managed to blame Hillary Clinton for the personal misfortunes of workers in MI. How honest was that?
We are hoping nothing more happens that prevents Bob Somerby's return to his Pavilion of Incontinence.
ReplyDeleteYes, having to write posts complaining that the Times does not cover what Bob Somerby wants the way he wants takes attention away from posts complaining that authors do not write books which are as easy for Bob Somerby to understand as newspaper reviews claim those books are.

DeleteIn spite of all the silly sniping back and forth between Clinton and Sanders supporters, hopefully the loser, probably Sanders, will enthusiastically back the winner, given the alternative of Trump (or any of the others). The problem is no god is going to come down from the sky and get elected president with a magic solution to everyone's problems. My questions about Sanders are if he beats Clinton, is he less likely than Clinton to defeat Trump - and here there will be disagreement. I think the answer is probably yes. If he somehow got nominated and beat Trump or whoever else it is, what part of his agenda would be enacted? doubtful that much of it would. And if all or most of his agenda went became the law, what would be the effect? you'd need a crystal ball that really worked to know for sure, but there's a good chance of some unintended consequences.
ReplyDeleteI'm more worried about the passage of Clinton's agenda the GOP agrees with, than the non-passage of Sanders agenda the GOP doesn't agree with.
DeleteShe's a neoliberal.
She is not a neoliberal. Look up the word. She doesn't believe in lack of government regulation of trade -- that's what neoliberalism is. She has stated repeatedly, and demonstrated as Secretary of State, that she believes in negotiating trade agreements that favor US interests, including curbing abuses of workers in other countries and limiting trade to protect American workers.
DeleteNeoliberal is one of those glib Sanders buzzwords that sound negative but that his supporters don't understand and cannot define. Another way of saying "bad" or "good" without knowing anything about any specific issue.
The GOP doesn't agree with anything about Clinton's so-called agenda. They are terrified she will be elected. That's why they are devoting so much energy to taking her down. They would much rather have Bernie because Hillary terrifies them. That should be your biggest clue that Bernie isn't the right guy and that Clinton is the better candidate when it comes to your interests and those of the people.
You must forgive 12:31 for equating repetition with persuasion, 1:03. It is a common affliction among conservative trolls, including those pretending to be Sanders supporters.
