Snobbery, hatred emerge: It's true! At that rally in Cleveland this Saturday, Barack Obama made a flippant remark about The Cheesecake Factory.
Actually, it was more like a joke! Headline included, Bess Levin starts to explain at the Intelligencer:
The Most Overheated Reactions to Obama’s Cheesecake Factory Line
Over the weekend, former president Barack Obama appeared at a rally in Ohio, where he gave an impassioned speech in hopes of galvanizing Democrats ahead of next week’s midterm elections. He called out the “chaos and cruelty and corruption” of Donald Trump’s second term and dinged the current president’s obsession with interior design and remodeling projects, on which he has been intensively focused since returning to Washington in between going to war with Iran and the free press.
“I don’t know if you’ve noticed but he seems very focused on home renovation,” Obama said of his successor. “He should be on HGTV. Guy is building a ballroom that’s bigger than the White House. Paved over the Rose Garden. Put a helicopter pad on the South Lawn. And there’s gold everywhere. What’s up with the gold? He’s got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory. Just gold everywhere.”
That was fairly standard stuff, with the joking remark thrown in. That said, under prevailing rules of the game, tribal offense must be taken!
(continuing directly from above)
Trump’s preference for decorating every space he has ever lived in with gold is in no way debatable, nor is his longtime penchant for designing spaces where a dictator would feel at home.... But apparently the comment about the restaurant chain hit a nerve with conservatives, who reacted to Obama’s joke with the fury of a thousand Brownie Crunch Choc-a-Lot Cheesecakes.Former Democratic strategist Evan Barker, who voted for Trump in 2024, claimed the line was evidence that “the coastal elites hate Americana”...
Did Barker start it? We don't know, but you can see Barker's tweet simply by clicking here. Here's what the turncoat said:
The coastal elites hate Americana. We know what they really think, and we know why they are so quickly defending Obama’s snobbery. They might think they are “too good” for the Cheesecake Factory, or find the decor to be tacky, but most regular Americans don’t.
In short, Barack Obama hates America. His Cheesecake snobbery proves it!
Many others took offense. We saw the caterwauling about the alleged condescension on several Fox News Channel shows.
Please don't make us seek out the links. The election cycle will be over next week, and then the real problems begin.
Jagoffs and weirdos, the whole cult of them.
ReplyDeleteObama is a coastal elite! His library is a mile from the coast of Lake Michigan.
ReplyDeleteTrump has no taste. That isn't the fault of those who do have taste. There is nothing about anything Trump does that displays taste. Why should anyone who supports Trump be insisting that we must pretend Trump has taste when he clearly does not. That makes this an exercise in kowtowing to the dictator, not a discussion of elites versus whoever thinks of themselves as typical Americans. No one in deep red America decorates his or her home the way Trump does. Gold toilets are not a thing in middle America.
ReplyDeleteSo, Somerby is right that this is pretend outrage because the right has Obama as a target. No one thinks Trump eats at Cheesecake Factory, and if he doesn't, why must we?
Imagine discussing taste and being silent after seeing Obama's museum, so ugly and depraved it's a moral offense.
DeleteLook how hate distorts a person's sense of aesthetics.
DeleteI think the Obama library is handsome. How about making the Oval Office into a faux-whorehouse? Any offense there?
DeleteWe didn't pay for Obama's library, fuckface Assman is making us pay for his wreckage of our house.
DeleteCheesecake Factory is about the food, not the decor. Does anyone in America decorate their living room like a sports bar?
ReplyDeleteReal rich people don't decorate like Trump does either. Trump has dementia. His decorating urge is out of control. Melania used to keep Trump from being a laughing stock, but she just doesn't care any more.
Do you think she changes his diapers? Me either.
DeleteShe doesn't change my diapers, either.
DeleteNatalie changes his diapers.
DeleteTrump's style is Nouveau Riche, which is a fancy way of saying he doesn't know how to live like the folks with both money and taste (acquired by growing up rich and not in Brooklyn).
ReplyDelete"A former beauty pageant contestant who previously said she fought off a sexual advance from President Donald Trump in 1993 now says he raped her.
ReplyDeleteBeatrice Keul told legislative staffers this year that the assault happened after she met Jeffrey Epstein, according to a new report from House Judiciary Committee Democrats, HuffPost reported.
Keul, who is Swiss, told Democratic committee staff in a series of interviews that the assault took place in November 1993 at Trump’s Plaza Hotel in Atlantic City, according to the report. She said she met Trump at a pageant event there, and he offered to arrange a U.S. visa and admission to New York University for her. She then met Epstein, who introduced himself as “Don’s best friend.” Later, she was invited to a room upstairs.
“Trump reportedly grabbed Keul from behind and forcibly raped her; in the process, tearing her dress and causing bleeding and bruising on multiple parts of her body,” the report says. “Keul described the rape as ‘brutal.’” [Rawstory]
Beauty pageants encourage misogyny.
DeleteAnother 23-year-old child raped by Trump and Epstein.
DeleteNo one believes her.
DeleteThe whole Epstein Files thing never made sense. There was always something fishy about Republicans having a problem with child rape.

ReplyDelete"Many others took offense."
Calling someone "snob" is not the same as "taking offence", Bob.
You, retarded Dumbocrats, enjoy "taking offence". Normal ordinary people just call things what they are.
Best normal people quote; "Republican voters are bigots."
DeleteMagats are bigots.
DeleteHold on. Aren't the people hurrying to defend the Cheesecake Factory the very same people who savaged the Cracker Barrel? And do the really think we'll believe that Mr. $400 MM luxury palace jet private golf club is the real man of the people?

The next Republican who has consensual sexual relations with an adult will be the first.
DeleteThis is where the Republican Mighty Wurlitzer Grievance Machine swings into action?
ReplyDeleteYea, they got nothing to run on with bad economy and war. Sad.
DeleteIt's a twofer for the maggots. They can claim the grievance card and also attack the Negro ex-president for being too uppity. win win
DeleteWhile cheering for Nikki's massive black ass.
Deleteyes, maggots have no shame
DeleteDemocrats have the worst combination of low education, intelligence, and morals and high conceit.
ReplyDeleteThey think they are more moral, just because they fight white supremacy.
DeleteRepublicans tend to make up their own facts without caring whether they are true or not.
DeleteAmazing that with Trump elevated to the White House for a second time, 11:25 attacks Dems' character. Not so bright.
DeleteIs everyone quite comfortable with the sudden death of Senator Graham coinciding so close in time with Prince Orange Chickenshit deciding to remove sanctions on Russia? Everything just works out for Putin, eh?
