A more restricted definition would be someone elected to public office, not the much larger number of people who work in politics in support of their candidacies at DCCC, DSCC and DNC. These rank and file workers are not generally thought of as policymakers either.<br /><br />The people who conduct polls certainly talk to real people, but the politicians and policymakers and journalists who are consumers of poll results are not actually talking to anyone who was polled. Further, statistics are not people.
