No fish today: We're off on a mission of national import. We'll do no posting today.
We recommend that you spend twelve minutes watching that sad Morning Joe tape. See yesterday's post.
If you prefer "What, us worry?" tales, we'll recommend this instead, from Slate:
"Trump Leads Clinton in a New General Election Poll. You Still Don’t Have to Worry."
We liberals! When it comes to matters like these, we never seem to be fully alive until we're asleep in the woods.
So Howler fans. Want to read and then discuss something intelligent while the man with an Imaginary Entourage travels?

(Warning...this writer hires real young people and lets them write themselves instead of reporting himself on their crying tantrums.)
Do you think Sanders really has the power to burn Hillary's candidacy down? I mean, no matter what Sanders says, we can be sure that Trump will say worse. Hillary will have to face whatever charges Sanders might make.
DeleteAnd, after the convention, Sanders himself will rapidly sink back into obscurity, just the way Ted Cruz did. Nobody now cares what Cruz thinks about Trump. After the Democratic Convention, nobody will care what Sanders thinks about Hillary.
The point isn't what Sanders might say about Clinton. It is that staying in the race will siphon off votes. He is threatening to go 3rd party, pull a Nader on the Democrats. If Cruz ran third party, he would similarly hurt Trump.
DeleteHere is another idea worth pondering...Compare and contrast the way Glenn Beck has become the Bob Somerby of the conservative movement.
ReplyDeletehttp://crooksandliars.com/2016/05/glenn-beck-blasts-conservatives-facebook
Glen Beck collects Nazi paraphernalia. Donald Trump reads and admires Hitler's speeches. Compare and contrast the way these two guys are similar.

DeleteSick burn. Great use of of your time. It's my fault though right?
DeleteNothing is ever your fault as long as Chris Matthews is allowed to breathe our Cable Air.
Delete"Rich is discussing a study which encompasses grades 3-8. As far as we know, there are no "Advanced Placement courses" at these grade levels....
ReplyDeleteThat's a relatively minor quibble about Rich's error-ridden report."
Bob Somerby yesterday.
Of course, when Bob encounters a piece entirely aimed at high schools, he makes a major quibble over whether "advanced placement" courses should even be offered in schools with students so far behind grade level.
http://dailyhowler.blogspot.com/2014/05/tuscaloosa-liberals-puzzle-emerges.html
Why should AP courses be offered if there are no students qualified to take them? In the last article where this was discussed, the classes were offered at a watered down level so that students earning an A in the class could not pass the AP test (a score of 3 out of 5 is needed). I think it is a fair question. Are students really taking "AP" classes if their content is not equivalent to an AP course?
DeleteWhy provide an education at all to people bound for failure due to a low vocabulary single parent?
DeleteVygotsky suggested educating students by starting where they were and working from there. No one learns well when presented with material way over their heads. Giving students a class that won't permit them to pass the AP (with hard work) is academic fraud.
DeleteAfter the rigging of the Bernie Prius millions of us are boarding the TRUMP TRAIN.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Bernie will be very proud of all of you. Sucker!
DeleteBernie never complained about the rigged system in the Democratic Party, as long as it was rigging things for him. Like by letting him run uncontested in Vermont as an Independent all these years.
**********
And did Bernie Sanders complain? Did he sputter with outrage that the Vermont Democratic establishment turned its back on Ms. Sandoval, a very liberal candidate, someone who could have been the first black woman to represent Vermont in Congress? Did he wax angrily on about the corrupt, rigged system? Did he thunder righteously at the way outsiders were being oppressed?
He did not.
He accepted the tacit endorsements of the Dems, the help of the NRA, and Mr. Sanders went to Washington.

The hilarious fact is, Bernie Sanders has never had to win an actual Democratic Primary. Isn't that odd.
*******************
There's definitely someone in this race who is used to showing up and getting a coronation from the Democrats. Someone who is totally out of their depth when faced with a very liberal opponent who is not taking this for granted. Someone who is acting hugely entitled and freaking out because they actually have to follow the rules of the party whose nomination they want.
And that Someone is not named Hillary Clinton.

Sounds like that Bernie is doing pretty well in his first turn on the primary merry-go-round. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Bob should take inspiration. Might make him appreciate the youngish.

ReplyDeleteSounds like a medical condition to me.
DeleteFully alive liberalism if you ask me. Or Bob.
