Cable channel returns to its slacker ways!

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2021

Cable star's latest gong-show: At this site, we'd never looked at Newsmax magazine, not even once.

As a matter of fact, we didn't know that there was a Newsmax magazine. We knew there was a Newsmax, of course—but the magazine, not so much.

Despite those facts, we had a very strong sense last night that Rachel had done it again. We refer to the ludicrous presentation she made starting at roughly the ten-minute mark of last evening's program.

We weren't certain that she had done it again until we were able, mid-morning today, to fact-check the Newsmax article in question. We already knew that her sweeping claims about Fox News were, alas, clownishly wrong.

How dumb can it get when major corporate "cable news" stars insist on phoning it in? Last night, Maddow's string of ridiculous groaners provided the answer:

It can get stunningly dumb.

That said, the cable star's corporate channel has returned to its slacker ways concerning publication of transcripts. As of now—it's Thursday afternoon—the channel still hasn't transcribed its Tuesday evening TV shows, let along those from last night.

(By way of contrast: CNN transcribes promptly around the clock, all day and all night long.)

We could transcribe last night's nonsense ourselves, but we don't want to provide the free labor. Instead, we'll wait for tomorrow. We'll hope that this corporate clown's channel has done its transcribing by then.

Until then, we can tell you this:

Maddow's ridiculous presentation last night was an undisguised insult to viewers.

MSNBC has promised the world that she will be leaving the air. In our view, they can't get her off soon enough.

Will the channel ever make good on its promise? Could someone start a GoFundHer page to hurry this process along?

Full disclosure: Your lizard is saying that we must be wrong. You should get rid of your lizard!

  1. We don't know about Newsmax magazine, but we have Newsmax news in our rss feed. It's fine. Factual news, most of which you're unlikely to see in your establishment zombie news 'services'.

    1. He doesn't ever say what Maddow supposedly got wrong, so there is no way for any of us to fact check Somerby or Maddow or Newsmax.

  4. Biden has done such a great job with the economy, the unemployment rate is at it's lowest in over 50 years.
Labor has the leverage over corporations, and the corporate-owned Right-wing media, AKA the media, are pissed about it.

    1. Not so. The weekly number of jobless claims did fall to a 52 year low. However, the latest unemployment rate of 4.60% is well above the Trump unemployment rates right before covid hit. Those rates were as low as 3.50%.

    2. The current and latest unemployment rate is 4.2%.

    3. Even David won't push back on the fact that the media, which is Right-wing, is pissed that labor has leverage over corporations.

  5. Sadly, many on both sides learn about the other side only from partisan critics. This goes for politicians as well as news sources and pundits. We then believe that we have formed an accurate opinion of someone on the other side solely by what his enemies say about him.

In this case, people ought to form their opinion of Newsmax Magazine (or any other magazine) by reading several issues of the actual magazine. That's the best way to reach an accurate evaluation.
