McEnany's folly: We're off on a medical mission this morning. We won't be posting until later this afternoon.
Meanwhile, this:
On yesterday afternoon's The Five, Kayleigh McEnany made a remarkable contribution to "this discourse which is no more a discourse." As we've noted, The Five is a cable news program which isn't a cable news program.
It's all part of a fraud on the public—a fraud which is a fraud. Perino, McEnany, Ford? Details upon our return.
ReplyDeleteIt probably is fair to call it "part of a fraud on the public".
And yet, compared to all the other fraud perpetrated on the public, to all the Democrat-controlled media, The Five (and all other stuff produced by Fox News) is so innocent, so minuscule, it's not even detectable.
And so it goes...
Inflation drops to 2.3% — beating expectations of 2.4%!
ReplyDeleteThe lowest annual reading since 2021.
President Trump’s plan to unleash American energy, cut regulations, and slash government waste is working.
I think Prince Orange Chickenshit just said last week that the economy is still President Biden's?
DeleteYeah but if Biden was still president the Dow would be up 4 percent and our military leaders would still be able to report for duty in drag. Bring back the good times!
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteDoes it matter what a military person is wearing? Don't they wear camouflage sometimes, go undercover sometimes, and don't they wear whatever they want off duty? I watched MASH on TV. There was plenty of drag on that show about the Korea war, broadcast 1972-83 (Nixon was president).
DeleteThere is a code of conduct including what on duty soldiers must wear. That applies to all service members. There is no valid reason for getting rid of patriotic transgender soldiers doing their duty.
DeleteBiden is still going strong. He is riding bikes and appearing on television with the vim of a 30 year old.
DeleteBiden should be accorded the same respect and appreciation for his service that any former president receives. He did an excellent job in office and his administration is receiving high marks from presidential scholars. Whatever your political views, Biden served with distinction and honor. That is more than can be said for the twice-impeached Trump.
DeleteBeating expectations by 0.1% is not the same as meeting the preferred standard, which is 0.3% lower than Trump's number.
DeleteSo, who was the president during 2021-24? They still wouldn't tell us.
DeleteSure, I understand the autopen thing, but someone had to stick documents into it. Who was doing it?
Biden managed to cut Covid fueled inflation by more than half.
DeleteWho is this "Biden" you speak of?
DeleteHe is still riding bikes all over the place. What does that tell you?
DeleteTrump caused inflation to rise, Biden reduced Trump's inflation.
DeleteTrump supporters are snowflakes and can not handle reality.
Biden was last shown in video riding his bike on May 12, 2024.
DeleteThe new book Original Sin is claiming that Biden's aging was covered up from 2020 onward. That belies not only his bikeriding but also his successful campaign in 2020, his many speeches and appearances during his term, his excellent performance as president and his 2024 primary campaign and nomination by the voters.
The authors of this book do not have special access to Biden or the White House. One author was part of the campaign to push Biden off the ticket, using his Axios website. The other worked for ABC News as White House Correspondent before Biden's election (while Trump was president), before moving to CNN in 2021.
The book is obviously a hit piece on Biden and his Democratic Party supporters. It is also obviously an attempt to cash in on the animosity toward Biden on the left and the conspiracy theories harbored by the right. The likelihood that Biden's people were covering up anything related to his term as president is very remote, especially given the medical reports on his health issued each year by the White House physician and medical staff at Walter Reed Hospital.
This is no different than books like Clinton Cash that maligned Hillary and Bill Clinton. It is sad that journalists feel they need to do this to survive financially, given that Biden is not running for anything and has now retired. Why is a book like this necessary from writers who could have told other interesting, relevant, and above all true stories about the Biden administration, but these guys are greedy.
The felon is accepting bribes from a country supporting Hamas. Fuck that shit and all I RW clowns in denial.
DeleteYou’re so ridiculous Cecelia.
DeleteProject 2025 is now our President.
DeleteSpeaking of "if Biden was still president" there is this from Jeff Tiedrich:
ReplyDelete"in August of last year, the Biden administration announced that they were lowering the prices on prescription drugs.
how did Team Biden accomplish this? by negotiating with drug makers.
HHS has reached agreements with all participating manufacturers on new negotiated, lower drug prices for the first 10 drugs selected for the Medicare drug price negotiation program.
cool deal, right? not bad for the guy who got hounded out of the presidential race for being icky and old and probably already dead.
hey, you’ll never guess what Mad King Donny did on the VERY FIRST DAY of his second reign: he look one look at those lowered drug prices and said fuck that shit and fuck it hard.
On Monday, Trump signed a sweeping order aimed in part at reversing several Biden administration executive orders on health care, including efforts to lower the cost of prescription drugs for people on Medicare and Medicaid, enhancing the Affordable Care Act and increasing protections for Medicaid enrollees. The so-called initial rescissions order, according to the Trump White House, is aimed at Biden policies that it says are “deeply unpopular” and “radical.”
why would Donny deliberately screw over the American public like that? say it with me: because fuck you, that’s why.
so now, four months later, Donny’s got a cunning plan to bring drug prices back down to where they already would have been if only he had just done nothing.
here’s a question: Donny’s supposed to be the greatest deal-maker of all time, right? so why didn’t he just negotiate with the drug makers, like Sleepy Joe Brandon did?
because kings don’t negotiate, duh! they just break shit they don’t understand, and then pretend to fix it."
On top of all that, Prince Orange Chickenshit is trying to force the EU to pay more for their drugs. The guy is fucked in the head.
DeleteVance and Rubio help preserve German democracy. https://reclaimthenet.org/germany-halts-afd-far-right-label-amid-us-pressure-surveillance-row
ReplyDeleteThey should be very proud of supporting the Nazi resurgence in Europe.
DeleteThe most popular political party in the country was going to be thrown off the ballot based on a secret report -- a report that had never been released to the public. That's what Vance and Rubio helped to prevent.
DeleteDiC, whatever you are reading is false information. It’s noteworthy that the right wing party, the AfD, is trying to claim a victory. The AfD in Germany is classified currently as “suspected of being right wing extremist.” The federal agency in charge of making these determinations wanted to classify them as “full on right wing extremist.” They paused this classification to wait for the court to decide on it. It has nothing to do with Vance or Rubio. Germany has, shall we say, a bit of a dicey history with right wing extremism.
DeleteJD Vance called it the most popular party, but that isn't consistent with election results or most recent polls.
Delete"Germany's Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party has been designated as right-wing extremist by the country's federal office for the protection of the constitution.
"The ethnicity- and ancestry-based understanding of the people prevailing within the party is incompatible with the free democratic order," the domestic intelligence agency said in a statement.
The German foreign ministry defended the decision after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the move "tyranny in disguise" and Vice-President JD Vance said the Berlin Wall was being rebuilt." [bbc.com]. Republicans complain when extremist right wing and Nazi groups are labeled as domestic terrorists in the US too.
Those with some historical context will understand why Germany is nervous about the resurgence of such groups, after what German experienced with the Holocaust. Rubio and Vance should have some respect for that history, but instead they are pretending it didn't happen (aka Holocaust denial) and that afd is just another political party. It is very odd that David, as a Jewish person, would welcome the American right's embrace of Nazis in Germany. That makes me think he is just a troll pretending to be Jewish, just as Cecelia pretends to be female, AC/MA pretends to be a lawyer and DG pretends to be a dog.
Keep in mind, Dickhead in Cal is what the Nazis call a "good Jew".
DeleteAnd, DiC, the classification of the AfD has proceeded publicly, not in secret.
Delete@12:38 -- There is no link to the 1100 page report by the German spy agency. A few bits were made public. That's all. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/german-spy-agency-ranks-far-right-afd-extremist-2025-05-02/
DeleteCalling the German domestic intelligence agency a "spy agency" is propagandistic language. When do intelligence agencies ever release all their info? They protect their sources and methods.
Delete@12:53 Suppose Trump banned the Democratic Party based on an FBI report that had not been made public. Would you see a problem with that?
DeleteYes. We Democrats adore spy agencies. Especially the German ones. Deutschland über alles!
Delete@David,
DeleteNo, but banning the Republican Party would be awesome!
As you yourself stated, parts of the report were made public. A better example is suppose the Republican Party was banned based on its actual behavior during the 2024 election, including the voter suppression activities described by Thom Hartmann. In that case, the actions by the Republicans are public and not secret, even if it may take an official report to summarize them. Trump's associations with the Proud Boys might be unknown to the public, but those with a security clearance would read the entire report, including the proof of Trump's complicity, and would have made their ruling based on that info. I don't expect to read classified military reports when I hear that someone in govt has attacked Houthis. I think this is a comparable situation. I would object if members of Congress had not been informed, but they have the security clearances to hear secret info, including those that protect privacy of US citizens, not just foreign relations secrets. Even the police in the US keep certain info secret, as do judges during trials.
DeleteI would expect German officials to know best what should be revealed to the public and what should be protected for various legitimate reasons.
DiC, established German law defines the parameters of what constitutes right wing extremism. It isn’t the chancellor making these decisions. It is courts, both in the individual German states and nationally. One of the claims against the AfD is that it views the German people as an ethnically separate group and rejects immigrants based on that. You may not find it democratic, and there are critics of the law, but it isn’t hard to figure out how the AfD runs afoul of the law.
DeleteSuppose Trump banned the Democratic Party
DeleteJesus Christ, Dickhead, he is not all powerful. There is something seriously the fuck wrong with you.
“ Deutschland über alles!” how ironic, 12:59, because that’s precisely what the AfD likes to say.
DeleteGerman officials are the best officials. As a Democrat, I trust them completely.
DeleteAs a Republican, I prefer Putin’s Russia, where opposition leaders get poisoned or fall out of windows more than the average person.
DeleteThe AfD also wants Germany to dispense with all the Holocaust memorials and the yearly mea culpas from German leaders and the routine paying of respect to Israel.
Delete
DeleteAs a Democrat, ordung is the most important thing for me.
Undesirable deplorables need to be eliminated in the orderly, well-planned manner. That's the Democrat way.
No one says that the law is uncontroversial, 1:21. Your stupid comments contribute nothing. We are responding to dic’s false claims about the recent decisions in Germany.
DeleteAnd my purpose at 1:20 was to point out the afd’s mindset vis a vis Jews and Israel, since this might be of interest to DiC, who brands this sort of thing anti Semitism here in the US and wants draconian steps taken to stamp it (or what he considers “it”) out. I wasn’t trying to justify the German law.
DeleteAs a Democrat I contribute my Democrat talking points, 1:24 PM. Responding to your false claims.
DeleteThat's ordung.
Do you mean "ordnung"? Why did you misspell it?
DeleteMost people avoid becoming deplorable by participating in education while children. That's the Democrat way. Republicans prefer to thumb their noses at expertise, knowledge, taking the kind of shortcuts preferred by criminals and corrupt politicians. What Hitler did had nothing to do with ordnung and everything to do with bigotry and sociopathic self-interest.
No false claims were made, 1:30. Just say nothing if you have nothing to contribute.
DeleteAnd “ordung” isn’t a word.
DeleteYou all contribute nothing. And I contribute many beautiful word-salads.
What an ass Somerby is.
I am Corby.
DiC is not a Jew, he is a troll. Stop engaging with him.
DeleteDoes it matter to you, DiC, that German Jews feel threatened by the right-wing AfD?
DeleteAnd “ordung” isn’t a word.
DeleteThank you.
Ex President Musk and VP Vance all in on Nazis in Germany and South Africa. Yea!!!??? Seriously, get mental help, sick bastards.
Delete
DeleteThank you, 3:49 PM, but we Democrats are retards; mental help doesn't work on retards. It' genetic.
Even people with developmental delays can learn and deserve the chance to maximize their potential, limited or not. High IQ is largely genetic too. Does that mean they don’t need school?
DeleteThom Hartmann today explains how voter suppression was implemented nationwide to remove over 4 million mostly Democratic votes cast during the last election:
ReplyDelete"The Deadly Math
When we apply the most conservative calculation to these numbers, the suppression factor in 2024 was at least 2.3% of the vote. That translates to approximately 3,565,000 votes that could have gone to Kamala Harris. With those ballots properly counted, she would have topped Trump’s official total by 1.2 million and won the popular vote as well as the Electoral College with 286 votes.
This isn’t speculative: it’s the cold, hard math based on documented evidence. And it’s exactly what Republican officials designed their laws to do. As Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton proudly stated on Steve Bannon’s podcast after blocking Houston from sending mail ballots during COVID, “Had we not done that, Donald Trump would’ve lost the [Texas] election.”
https://hartmannreport.com/p/americas-long-coup-how-the-gop-rigged-812
It is hard to complain about this because of Trump's whining about losing the 2020 election. We Dems are reluctant to sound like conspiracy theorists or sore losers, but these tactics are documented, they are the modern equivalent of Jim Crow, and they did swing the 2024 election, making Trump an illegitimate president. Whatever else is done to stop this election manipulation, it must be recognized that Trump did not win fairly but cheated his way into office, just as he did in 2016.
Epic Narrative Fail: Federal Revenue Surges 9% Despite Predictions Of Decline
ReplyDeleteAnnual inflation rate hit 2.3% in April, less than expected and lowest since 2021
Dems and the media managed to create a widely accepted narrative that Trump's policies would increase inflation and reduce income tax collected. Many people pretty much treated these predictions as factual. Will reality replace this incorrect narrative?
https://issuesinsights.com/2025/05/13/epic-narrative-fail-irs-revenue-surges-9-despite-predictions-of-decline/
https://www.cnbc.com/2025/05/13/cpi-inflation-april-2025.html
The effect of Prince Orange Chickenshit's imbecilic tariffs haven't manifested yet. Patience, fuckface fascist freak.
DeleteDiC, the tax collected this April was for fiscal 2024. Duh.
Delete@12:46 The prediction was that all the IRS layoffs would reduce income taxes collected.
DeleteFederal revenue up, inflation down, Democrats are in agony. Horrors!
DeleteThe prediction was not that the layoffs would reduce taxes collected below last year's totals but would decline compared to what an intact IRS would have collected. We don't know how much more might have been collected than was actually taken in. The increase in revenues for FY2024 is consistent with Biden's strong economy. For example, the increase in revenues may have been 20% instead of 9% with normal IRS staffing. How much did the increase decline? You are not reporting that figure.
DeleteI’m waiting for the tariffs to eliminate the income tax, because that was one of the many reasons Trump gave for them.
DeleteThere are small businesses filing suit against the Trump tariffs because they will devastate their businesses. They have to be able to forecast costs, right DiC?
Delete@DiC:
DeleteYou totally missed the sleight-of-hand the editorial board pulled off. Here's their claim:
"Back in March, unnamed “senior tax officials” told the Washington Post that the 'rapid demolition of parts of the IRS' was going to result in a 10% plunge in revenues this spring.
"Actual result: Revenues are up 9% compared with the first four months of last year."
So the boffins at Issues and Insight looked at a story published on March 22 that included a prediction about the future and then checked it against results from January through April!
Face facts, Davey. You got fooled.
Wait until you see the surge in arrests, when David in Cal's boys defund the police.

I will never understand why any enlightened country would say, “Yeah. Let’s bring in people who force women to cover their heads (and in some cases, their faces) and who also sire ten kids who harbor that same belief. Sounds GREAT!” Don’t we already have enough native-born Americans with similar views? Why are we suppose to get all tingly over this policy because Democrats will treat them like their prom queen so as to buy their votes?

DeleteAnonymouse 3:06pm, no one has stabbed little girls at an outdoor dance or forced whole neighborhoods of girls into prostitution. We should keep it it that way by meticulously screening certain populations for entry.
DeleteWhite Americans stab people everyday and engage in sex trafficking including prostitution.
DeleteIn America a little girl is raped every nine minutes, a woman is raped every 6 minutes.
In America, the top cause of death for children is gun violence.
In America there is, on average, a mass murder/mass shooting every 1-2 days.
Most mass murders/mass shootings occur in the South and the Midwest, with about half occurring in rural areas, generally the perpetrator is a White male.
These circumstances are unique to America, most countries do not suffer this kind of crime. Worse, crime/violence in other countries is often the result of the US meddling in their affairs.
Studies show that immigration actually lowers the crime rate in America.
Your xenophobia is pretty rich considering your phony representation of yourself.
Anonymouse 3:28pm, yes, all those things happen every day in every country. That’s quite profound. I don’t think what happen to the girls in the UK was business as usual. Same with the frequent bombings in Sweden.

ReplyDelete"“President Trump has correctly recognized that the American film and television industry faces an urgent threat from international competition,” leaders of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), one of the largest and most powerful entertainment unions, said in a statement."
The threat is that the international content is much better and actually watchable compared to the garbage American entertainment companies produce.
DeleteAmericans have grown weary of corporate entertainment, such is the free market.
Like the auto industry, the film industry is entertwined with international film production and services, not least filming in places that are less expensive than US locations, to the benefit of all. I doubt Trump has a clue how it works these days.
DeleteIATSE is a union including the US and Canada. It coordinates with and respects international unions in other countries.
To be considered a foreign film for Oscar purposes, it must be produced by a production company outside the US, more than 50% of the dialog must be in a language other than English, its first theatrical release must have been in its country of origin. I don't believe that there are many foreign films in languages other than English that are serious competitors with US films, but dubbing films for international release is common with both American and foreign films. The main competition arises because most films are collaborative internationally these days and cannot be identified as strictly American or strictly foreign.
As a Democrat I hate American unions.

"The biggest divide in America today is not between “right” and “left,” or between Republicans and Democrats. It’s between democracy and oligarchy. The old labels — “right” and “left” — prevent most people from noticing they’re being shafted.
ReplyDeleteThe propagandists and demagogues who protect the oligarchy stoke racial and ethnic resentments — describing human beings as illegal aliens, fueling hatred of immigrants, and spreading fears of communists and socialists.
This strategy gives the oligarchy freer rein: It distracts Americans from how the oligarchy is looting the nation, buying off politicians, and silencing critics. It causes Americans to hate each other so we don’t look upward and see where the wealth and power have really gone.
The way to overcome oligarchy is for the rest of us to join together and win America back, as we did in response to the oligarchy that dominated America’s last Gilded Age. We are beginning to do that.
The agenda ahead is simply stated but it will not be easy to implement: We must get big money out of our politics. End corporate welfare and crony capitalism. Bust up monopolies. Stop voter suppression.
We must strengthen labor unions, give workers a stronger voice in their workplaces, create more employee-owned corporations, encourage worker cooperatives, fund and grow more state and local public banks, and develop other institutions of economic democracy.
This agenda is neither “right” nor “left.” It is the bedrock for everything else America must do.
It may seem an odd time in our history to suggest such reforms, but this is the best time. Trump and his oligarchy will inevitably overreach. They already are.
The lesson from the last Gilded Age is that when the corruption and ensuing hardship become so blatant that they offend the values of the majority of Americans, the majority will rise up and demand real, systemic change.
We are witnessing the stirrings of such an anti-oligarchic revolution right now. It is the silver lining on this horrific Trump stormcloud."

It predicts recession.
DeleteYes, @5:42, that's the nonsense in the linked article. In reality, prices react to supply and demand. Fuel prices might go down in an actual recession if the recession caused reduced demand. However, we're not in a recession now. Nobody knows whether or not a recession is coming soon. Fuel prices are a poor way to forecast the economy.
DeleteOTOH, fuel prices decrease when supply increases. We are seeing increased supply, because our current President has taken steps to increase supply. Lower fuel prices will help cause an improved economy and less inflation. That's why we all are in favor of lower fuel prices.
OMG here it is again.
DeleteDespite tariffs, car prices aren’t shooting up. That’s not necessarily a good thing
https://www.cnn.com/2025/05/12/business/car-prices-tariffs-recession-economy
We need to understand that reducing inflation is good, except when a Republican is President.
Yeah, yeah. And we also need to understand that raising the debt limit is bad, but only when Dems are at the tiller.
DeleteThe debt limit seemed like a good idea for holding down government spending, but IMO it has not worked. Both parties continue to spend whatever they like. They don't match spending to the debt limit; they raise the debt limit to match the spending.
DeleteIn order to reduce the national debt, Congress would have to do some politically difficult things. E.g., cut Social Security. Have a massive tax increase. Cut every single department's spending to 5% below last year's budget, and repeat that for several years.
"The debt limit seemed like a good idea for holding down government spending"
DeleteIf someone refused to pay their credit card bill above a certain amount, would that also have seemed like a good idea to you?
Simply saying that no one knows whether a recession is coming does not negate that lower gas prices predict recession. Economists are predicting one too. What is your counter argument?
DeleteWhat exactly do you mean by "lower gas prices predict recession"? How much lower? How soon is the recession after lower gas prices? What percentage of times do recessions follow lower gas prices? Who says that "lower gas prices predict recession"? Are there economists who disagree?
DeleteI tried a search engine and found no hits for "lower gas prices predict recession". I did find, "Can Falling Gas Prices Help Stop a Recession?"
I will stick with my diagnosis that this is nonsense.
I asked AI why lower gas prices predict recession and got this:
Delete“ Reduced Economic Activity:
During a recession, businesses may cut back on production, leading to fewer goods needing to be transported. Consumers may also reduce their travel and spending, including on fuel.
Decreased Oil Demand:
The overall demand for oil, which is a key component of gasoline, tends to fall during a recession.
Supply and Demand:
Basic economic principles dictate that when demand for a product decreases, prices generally fall, unless there's a corresponding decrease in supply.
Global Impact:
While the US economy is a significant factor, oil is traded globally. Weak global economic conditions, such as those in countries like China, can also impact oil demand and prices.
Recessionary Trends:
Historical data shows that gasoline prices often decline in the aftermath of recessions, like the 2008 recession and the pandemic-related recession of 2020. ”
You could have done the same.
OK, David. Here's one you can cheer about:
ReplyDeleteFor months, President Donald Trump has falsely claimed that egg prices are tumbling. It wasn’t true then, but it’s true now.
Egg prices fell 12.7% last month, the biggest monthly decline since 1984, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Tuesday. And they could continue to fall this month, too: The USDA reported last week that a dozen large white-shell eggs now cost $3.30 on average, down a whopping 69 cents from a week before.

Trump, like most Presidents, tends to claim credit for any good thing that happens when he's in office. I think he does deserve at least partial credit for several good things, but not eggs. The fall in prices is entirely due to the increased supply of healthy hens.
DeleteThat reminds me of the Rudy Ray Moore joke about his girlfriend's bra size.
DeleteWell, go ahead and take a victory lap over CNN's narrative flip. As you have often complained, it's a rarity for the good news to get any coverage at all.
DeleteQuaker - do you feel like that article is unbiased? Did you notice the buried lede?
Delete@7:33 Yes, if by "buried lede" you mean the stubbornly high retail prices while wholesale prices are falling.
DeleteYeah, that's the real story. But even I start to feel bad for someone who is so consistently wrong.
Can you see the bias against Trump in the article?
DeleteAnonymouse 8:22pm, CNN didn’t want to bury the lede that Trump is a liar under some news
Deletethat egg prices are lower.
“ bias against Trump”
DeleteIt’s called “the truth.”
@8:22 Is your lede "The Fake News is Lying About Trump"? Is that what you were driving at?
DeleteToday Helene Cooper, Greg Jaffe, Jonathan Swan, Eric Schmitt, and Maggie Haberman of the New York Times reported that Trump followed a similar pattern in his bombing campaign against the Houthis in Yemen. He thought he could stop Houthi attacks on shipping in the Red Sea by bombing the Houthis, and he expected results within 30 days.
ReplyDeleteAfter 31 days, the journalists report, the U.S. didn’t even have air superiority over the Houthis, who shot down seven U.S. drones—each of which cost about $30 million—and continued to fire at U.S. ships. In the first month, the U.S. campaign cost about $1 billion and lost two $67 million aircraft. Eager to get out, Trump agreed to stop the bombing campaign in return for the Houthis’ leaving U.S. ships alone, but without any promises from the Houthis to stop the more general attacks that had led Trump to start the U.S. strikes in the first place. On May 5, Trump ended the operations and declared victory.

It is appalling that the US military doesn't have what it takes to defeat the Houthis, given all we spend on defense. Where does all that money go? What are we getting from our Defense Dept. I don't know if Hegseth is the right person to fix it, but radical improvement is needed. Just more money isn't the answer IMO.
DeleteI’m sure that Hegseth is not the “right person to fix it”.
DeleteIf you fire all your top military leaders for being black or female or woke you’re going to have some problems getting results.
DeleteHow about firing them because they don’t share your vision?
Delete@10:23 -- the current weakness came about when all those woke people were running the Defense Dept. They may have caused the problem. They certainly didn't solve it.
DeleteNobody is being fired for being black or female. OTOH a lot of people were hired and promoted for that reason. And, a lot men were denied promotion because they refused to endorse the woke garbage. If the Defense Establishment can successfully adapt to hiring and promoting solely on merit, that will produce a more capable Defense establishment.
Making this happen will be very difficult, because the woke stuff is so entrenched. If a Dem President is elected in 2028, much of Trump's good work will be reversed. If a Republican is elected, hopefully 8 years of merit based decisions is enough to be permanent.
IMO the problems of our Defense goes beyond woke. For decades people have joked about the inefficiency of military procurement procedures. Somehow the military needs to figure out how to spend money effectively. E.g., we should be able to get drones for a tiny fraction of $30 million each. There needs to be an attitude of economy. Today the attitude is to spend as much money as needed to get the greatest possible weapon. But, the result is that we don't have enough drones.
When you fire the people who know how to do the job, chaos ensues. That’s why planes are crashing and Newark has air traffic control blackouts.
DeleteBiden didn’t have the problems Trump is exeriencing, with the military or with air safety.
DeleteAnonymouse 11:11pm, no, it’s been a problem that started before Trump was in office with outdated equipment and infrastructure.
Delete11:28: that’s the best time to fire everyone with expertise, amirite?
DeleteNo, Biden was addressing that but Trump cancelled that effort.
DeleteIf you fire all your top black and women military leaders for not sharing your vision that blacks and women are second-class citizens at best, you're going to have some problems getting results.
DeleteFixed for Cecelia's accuracy.
"hopefully 8 years of merit based decisions is enough"
DeleteYes, indeed. We need more "merit-based" decisions like tapping Matt Gaetz as Attorney General or Pam Bondi as Attorney General, or Jeanine Pirro as D.C. Prosecutor.
