Yay yay yay, inflation is up and so is unemployment, and we have no trade deals, and Trump keeps changing his mind on tariffs, and Trump is blowing up the deficit/debt to fund tax cuts to the rich, but at least Trump cut funding for cancer research and international support for crises around the world (which will directly lead to the deaths of millions of people) so we can pretend he is draining the swamp, even though he has only worsened the swamp, filling his admin with neoliberals and neocons.
PadamBecause of Trump's unconventional acts (firing whole departments, imposing tariffs and instability on markets) the Fed doesn't know what will help keep our economy stable. It should raise interest rates not lower them, to compensate for inflation, but the high unemployment will not be helped by that and suggests lowering interest rates to stimulate the economy instead. But the artificial impacts on employment will not be helped by lower interest rates because the hiring and firing is being exacerbated by ICE, DOGE and market instability that prevents businesses from hiring while causing workers to flee.
PadamThis is a huge mess that Trump has created through his own actions, even when top economists have been telling him not to do any of this. Giving Trump what he wants won't fix anything. We are most likely headed for a major recession/depression and the only thing we the people can do about it is increase our savings and try to outlast the turmoil.
