...Tucson swept it away: The flooding of the zone is so furious and so fast that it's very hard to keep up. Believe it or not, it was last Saturday morning when print editions of the New York Times featured this dual headline at the very top of the paper's front page:
Trump Posts, Then Erases, Racist Video of Obamas
Apes Depiction is Latest Affront in a Pattern of Denigrating Black Americans
That dual headline topped the print edition's front page. Online, a slightly updated version of that report starts exactly like this:
‘I Didn’t Make a Mistake’: Trump Declines to Apologize for Racist Video of Obamas
President Trump posted a blatantly racist video clip portraying former President Barack Obama and the former first lady Michelle Obama as apes, but he insisted he had nothing to apologize for even after he deleted the video following an outcry.
The clip, set to “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” was spliced near the end of a 62-second video that promoted conspiracy theories about the 2020 election and was among a flurry of links posted by Mr. Trump late Thursday night. It was the latest in a pattern by Mr. Trump of promoting offensive imagery and slurs about Black Americans and others.
Speaking to reporters on Air Force One on Friday, Mr. Trump said he only saw the beginning of the video. “I just looked at the first part, it was about voter fraud in some place, Georgia,” Mr. Trump said. “I didn’t see the whole thing.”
He then tried to deflect blame, suggesting he had given the link to someone else to post. “I gave it to the people, generally they’d look at the whole thing but I guess somebody didn’t,” he told reporters.
The staffer did it, the president said. The president said he didn't know that the image in question appeared at the end of the post—and for the record, we can't swear that his claim is wrong!
We can't swear that his claim is wrong! Does anyone think he reads to the end of the ludicrous stuff about election fraud that he persistently reposts?
He was reposting the latest ludicrous claim about the way the 2020 election was rigged. Does anyone think that he reads to the end of ludicrous content like that?
It's very hard to keep pace with the flooding of the zone. For today, we'll leave it right here, in exhaustion, offering only this:
It was last Saturday morning when that report appeared atop the front page of the Times! Within the realm of cable news, events in Tucson have swept that topic away, along with several subsequent weird behaviors by the sitting president.
On the Fox News Channal and on CNN, Tucson has swept it all away. It's always hard to keep up with the flood—but for better or for worse, "true crime" truly took hold that day.
ReplyDeleteEveryone -- yes, literally everyone, including you, Bob -- knows perfectly well that the 2020 election was rigged. In fact, new details of that fraud are being revealed every week.
It's so sad watching you and your retarded comrades, Bob, getting horrible pains of cognitive dissonance every time this simple, perfectly obvious fact is mentioned.
Oh well...
Thanks, Cleta. 2 + 2 = ?
DeleteEven if there were any truth to the conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, the statute of limitations has passed. As Trump himself noted, this is just about his big fat ego now.
DeleteEveryone---yes literally everyone, including Bob Somerby, the mainstream media, AC/MA, David in Cal, and Mao know there is no such thing as a Republican voter who isn't a bigot.
DeleteThey pretend they don't to "own the libs".
Don't worry, Mao.
DeleteWe all see you working diligently to protect the elites in the Epstein Files.
We'd have to be blind to miss it.
Minnesotans have driven out the thug criminal element otherwise known as ICE etc., thus ending the recent crime wave that included 2 homicides.
DeleteIs it even humanly possible that 3:36 truly believes that “literally everyone” knows that the 2020 election was rigged? And if he doesn’t believe it, why would he say something he knows to be false?
Delete
DeleteYes, Soros-monkey: literally everyone knows that the 2020 election was rigged. Including you.
And like I said, being compelled, by your Democrat cult, to aggressively deny it, amplifies cognitive dissonance in you, you poor thing.
No one thinks Trump can read, much less read to the bottom of something he retweets. He is still accountable for what he does. In this case, it was a photo Trump is saying he didn't know he had posted. I don't believe that, but his ridiculous denial will convey the insolence in the face of blue chiding that Trump's followers like -- he is owning the libs and being racist.
ReplyDeleteWe should hold all of the Trump's supporters responsible too. They put an ass like Trump into office and now they own him. That doesn't mean we have to accept any of Trump's lame excuses for his misbehavior, especially the obvious lies.
It would be nice if Somerby would say something about this, for a change, but he is too busy repeating and advancing Trump's naughtiness, in case anyone missed Trump's insult, and note that Somerby is also complaining because other news outlets moved on and haven't been dwelling on the way Trump thumbs his nose at us all.
Somerby says that true crime supplanted discussion of Trump's obvious taunt. On what planet is the president's childish behavior more important than recovering an 84 year old woman who has apparently been kidnapped because her daughter is famous? I care about Nancy Guthrie and so do many others. That is more important, a higher priority, than further appreciating Trump's snide swipe at the Obama's, his refusal to apologize, and his childish enjoyment of blue disgust at his "antics". Why on earth would Somerby assign priority to Trump's garbage?
ReplyDelete"On what planet is the president's childish behavior more important than recovering an 84 year old woman who has apparently been kidnapped because her daughter is famous?"
DeleteThe kidnapping is more important to the Guthrie family, but the entire rest of humanity is more threatened by Trump's demented and racist behavior. That is why on planet Earth it is Trump's behavor that is "more important," at least in the sense that Somerby is talking about -- "more newsworthy."
And the Guthrie kidnapping has not been the sole focus of anything. But that is the impression you get from reading Somerby.
DeleteAnd did you read his post recently, how the NYT placed the Guthrie story “inside the fold” and judged many other stories to merit front page discussion? What point then Is he trying to make?
DeleteNo one is threatened by stupid pictures. People are threatened by that airspace shutdown in El Paso and possible war with Mexico. But I care about Nancy Guthrie even if her personal trouble is not world-shaking.
DeleteIn a digital world or scrolling, the idea of story placement is irrelevant. There is no above the fold. People’s front pages will be determined by their browsing habits. Somerby doesn’t understand that.
Trump’s attention seeking stunts are distractions from real news. You are chasing a squirrel DG. The real racism is the targeting of brown people by ICE not Trump’s dislike of Bad Bunny. Somrrby doesn’t discuss ICE.
There is nothing the left hates more than not being allowed to force people to say what they want them to say.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is the left trying to prosecute people over speech.
DeleteEvery right wing accusation is a confession
DeleteGallup will no longer measure presidential approval ratings, the Washington Post reports.
DeleteOf course Trump didn't make a mistake. He meant to insult Dems with a racist video of the Obamas, because that keeps his base motivated. Why is this worth Somerby's attention?
ReplyDeleteNotice how Trump won't do anything about runaway inflation, as opposed to posting racist videos, because he'd lose Republican voters for taking his eye off the ball.
DeleteOn the other hand, the republicans did a bang up job with a single bill stemming from DOGE , cutting a whopping 9 billion from the federal budget. That is, 0.45% of the 2 trillion dollars Musk advertised at the start. All so that some 20 somethings could access the personal data of every citizen in this country while simultaneously cutting funding for childhood cancer research. With a little more effort they could have balanced their cuts against the amount Trump is suing the American taxpayer, falling a billion dollars short.
DeleteAnyone who isn't a bigot, or isn't perfectly fine with bigotry, left the Republican Party over a quarter of a century ago.
ReplyDeleteWho is going to tell Trump his war on mylar party balloons is not going to help him get a Nobel Peace Prize?
ReplyDeleteThe Right are the snowflakes they warned us about.
ReplyDeleteA perverted psycho teenaged male in a dress shot up 35 people at a school and at home in Canada, murdering his pro-"trans" activist mother and his 11 year old brother, and slaughtering six other children.
ReplyDeleteDemocrats are mentally deranged, violent, filled with hatred and rage, and they're getting worse.
DeleteI doubt it could be worse. Read Democrats' retarded confessions here, and obviously it's impossible to be more deranged than they already are.
Obviously, if he killed innocent children he's a white male, no matter what he calls himself.
DeleteEver looked in a Planned Parenthood dumpster?
DeleteThe most likely demographic of a US terrorist in this country by a country mile is a far right wing bigot. And I get why you are proud of that fact.
