More importantly, how's your old man?: Yesterday, commander-in-chief Donald J. Trump conducted a short press event. The second journalist permitted to ask him a question sensibly asked him this:
REPORTER (8/14/20): You congratulated Marjorie Taylor Greene in a tweet. You called her a future Republican star. Greene has been a proponent of the QAnon conspiracy theory. She said it’s something that would be worth listening to. Do you agree with her on that?We expect to discuss QAnon all during the upcoming week. That said:
In effect, Trump had been asked if he agrees with—if he believes—the world's current craziest claims. That strikes us as a significant question. The commander's reply went like this:
TRUMP (continuing directly): Well she did very well in the election. She won by a lot. She was very popular. She comes from a great state and she had a tremendous victory so absolutely I did congratulate her.As you can see, the commander had absent-mindedly neglected to answer the question.
Please, go ahead. Go ahead, please.
Obviously, the commander didn't realize that he hadn't answered the question. Indeed, when he said, "Please, go ahead," he was prompting some other reporter to ask him some other question!
The original reporter tried to request an actual answer to her actual question. She tried this oldest trick in the book and, needless to say, she failed.
The commander in chief just kept asking for a new, different question. Quickly, a new reporter complied. This is the way it went down:
ORIGINAL REPORTER (continuing directly): That conspiracy theory, do you agree with her on that? That was the question. The new reporter just wanted to ask the commander how his brother was doing!
TRUMP: Go ahead, please.
NEW REPORTER: I just wanted to ask you what ails your brother Robert and how is he doing?
(Just for the record, no. As best we can tell, this new reporter wasn't from OAN!)
We thought it was worth recording the way our nation's "press corps" functions in this convention speech/press event setting. The second reporter could have deferred to the first—could have asked the commander in chief to answer the original question.
That said, he had bigger things on his mind. Forget all that silly-bill QAnon stuff! He wanted to know how El Jefe's brother was doing!
The brother of the commander is ill. It would have been perfectly decent for someone to ask that question at some point this day. But there you see the fatuous conduct which frequently drives these events.
Mr. President, do you believe the world's craziest claims? That's the perfectly sensible that first reporter had asked.
Six more reporters got to ask questions. No one returned to that point.
Starting Monday: Anthropologists talk about QAnon and about us. What is our "human race" like?

ReplyDeleteNice, dear Bob. If you like a politician, not only you need to own everything she's ever said and done, but also everything said and done by everyone who she said "would be worth listening to".
DeleteIs this you cult's new standard? Lol. I will try to remember.
Meanwhile, do you, dear Bob, and your liberal-zombie comrades believe that "the world is going to end in 12 years if we don't address climate change"?
Please answer, I'll be waiting.
...incidentally, I wonder if your most beloved demigod Barry believes it, considering that he's just bought a $12 million Martha's Vineyard coastline mansion. Surely he fully expects it to be underwater by Monday.
Actually, dear Bob, if one were to believe zombie-controlled wikipedia, this 'QAnon' thing sounds like fun.
DeleteDefinitely worth listening to, and in many respects not even particularly controversial.

"As you can see, the commander had absent-mindedly neglected to answer the question."
ReplyDeleteSomerby thinks the President forgot to answer the question. That's ludicrous. The President doesn't want to answer that question and no reporter, asking any number of times, will be able to force him to answer it.
Instead of blaming the President for his evasiveness, Somerby blames the reporters for not working together as a group to insist on that question and no other.
The 2nd reporter was asking what the President's brother's illness was in hopes that he had Covid-19. Any moron can see that, and also recognize that it would be counting political coup if he got that response from Trump. It is actually no one's business what the president's brother is suffering from. But I can see why the reporter would ask that question, and Somerby should see too.
Somerby seems to think that those reporters are all part of a clan that works together, cooperates to achieve a goal of pinning down the President. It doesn't work that way. They are competing to get new information that will attract more readers to their newspapers. The other reporters are their competitors in a free market economy that demands competition of them. They won't advance their papers' interests or their own careers by helping other reporters.
Those reporters all know by now that if they persist, the President will simply end the session by walking away. No one benefits from that.
Somerby also seems to think that all reporters have the same attitude toward the president. He excludes OANN, but there are other papers and reporters who support the president and wouldn't wish to embarrass him with such questions. Somerby doesn't name any of the reporters, so it is difficult to know whether that second reporter was another friendly face in the crowd or not. Somerby's assumption seems unwarranted.
Somerby is supposedly a media critic, but he doesn't seem to understand how the media operates and he keeps demanding impossible, self-defeating behaviors from reporters. Why? Is he stupid or is he just interested in portraying the media as incompetent? Who benefits when he does that?
Somerby says: "Obviously, the commander didn't realize that he hadn't answered the question."
That isn't obvious at all. In fact, because the President continued to dodge the question, it seems more likely he simply didn't want to answer it and was refusing to respond to it. Why does Somerby give the benefit of the doubt to this president, who has refused to answer so many questions since January 2017? Trump has not earned any charity from reporters, so why does Somerby assume something that is highly unlikely to be true? So he can blame the reporters, obviously.
Well, okay. The brother of the governor of NY dined out on CNN for weeks on having COVID-19.
DeleteTo the point of his sparing with a bicycling local who encountered Chris Cuomo outside without a mask during the quarantine period he broadcasted from weeknights at 9pm.
Somewhat later, CNN promoted the event of Chris Cuomo ascending the stairs of his “basement” into the light...
sheesh.
non-sequitur
DeleteIt was, but it seemed important to remember at the time.
DeleteAre you saying that it is OK for Trump to have a brother because Cuomo did too?
DeleteAccording to Mary Trump, Donald Trump used to mercilessly bully his younger brother, the same one who he now calls his best friend.
DeleteI suppose the younger brother must forgive and forget, especially if he wants to feed at the Trump family trough, but Donald Trump's obliviousness to his contribution to their "friendship" is consistent with his inability to see his own shortcomings in other areas as well. For example, he thinks he is a good golfer (hint: he cheats). I suspect he continued to be a very bad brother, and I suspect it was a relief to his brother, not just his mother, when he was sent off to military school.
This was a 'gotcha' question. An answer would have meant either endorsing these nut-cases or criticizing an ally. Trump wisely chose not to answer.
ReplyDeleteThe President of the United States doesn't have to worry about alienating a first-term candidate who just won a primary and hasn't even been elected to office! She needs to worry about alienating him.
DeleteTrump perhaps doesn't want to turn off the Q-Anon members who are part of his base. Just like he winks and nods at the alt-Right. He is not picky about who he strings along as long as they vote for him.
Politicians with integrity draw the line at certain supporters, returning their contributions and making it clear via their statements that they do not want their support. For Trump, there is no such line, and that was made clear by his unwillingness to disavow Q-Anon, people who are not just crazy but also slandering major public figures who do not deserve to have lies told about them.
What do you care, dear Hillary? It's all over for you anyhow.
DeleteAt least I'm glad to have learned what Q-Anon is. I had never heard of it before.
DeleteI listened to part of a video by newly elected Congresswoman Greene. What a flake! She's an embarrassment.
Greene is not a Congresswoman yet. She won the Republican primary in a safe district and is expected to win the general election.
DeleteIt is an embarrassment to call her Congresswoman before she has been duly elected.
What a flake! She's an embarrassment.
DeleteFuck you, David, you phony bastard. You can't inoculate yourself from the future of your party. You will reliably and enthusiastically vote for her team and thereby empower her to your utmost ability.
Yes, mm. During Trump's 2nd term millions of black and Hispanic Americans might move up into the middle class and peace might break out in the middle east.
DeleteAtta boy David. Those goalposts don't move themselves.
Delete"During Trump's 2nd term millions of black and Hispanic Americans might move up into the middle class..."
DeleteIf Trump makes this the focus of his re-election campaign, who do you think the Republicans would nominate as President in his place?
Questions about Trump’s sabotage of the USPS would have been preferable to the QAnon question.
ReplyDeleteWhy, because "sabotage of the USPS" is a much crazier conspiracy theory?
DeleteИди на хуй свою мать, тролль

@1:14: Don't know what they'd be since he's pretty clear on his intent.
DeleteFrom Fox Financial (Thursady?) - "They [the Democrats] want $3 1/2 billion for something that'll turn out to be fraudulent — that's election money basically," Trump said.
Continued the president: "They want $25 billion for the post office. Now, they need that money in order to have the post office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots. Now, in the meantime, they aren't getting there. But if they don't get those two items, that means you can't have universal mail-in voting because they're not equipped to have it."
Eight states are mailing ballots to all active voters this fall, including five that have been doing so for years, but most states are not conducting what Trump calls universal mail-in voting.
Trump continued: "If we don't make a deal, that means they don't get the money. That means they can't have universal mail-in voting. They just can't have it.
Also, on Thursday, WaPo reported DeJoy meeting at the White House before his meeting with Pelosi an Shumer.
Meanwhile, 8 Qanon-affiliated GOP congressional candidates have cleared their primaries, with Trump's blessing.
YMMV, but it's pick your poison.
As various veterans organizations have been pointing out, lots of people use the postal service besides election staff. Veterans are upset because their prescriptions are not being delivered in time (e.g., before they run out of existing supplies).
DeleteTrump is essentially playing politics with the postal service, but he is hurting perhaps unintended citizens, including those who fought for their country (as Trump did not).
Veterans have traditionally been more conservative than liberal, so it is hard to see what Trump gains by alienating another segment of his base, just to fuck with Congress over corona virus relief.

DeleteQAnon is an interesting/troubling topic, not unworthy of blogging about, but the election/USPS is a more immediate problem that needs massive media coverage.
Besides, Somerby will probably just blame liberals for QAnon.
Some analysts are saying that Trump is using his meddling with the USPS to give himself a bargaining chip in the covid relief package negotiations. But it is hard for me to see how upsetting so many people who depend on the USPS, and being seen as an obstructionist with respect to those negotiations, is going to earn him many votes in November. People need that relief and Trump is standing in the way of help.
DeleteThere are indications that Trump is actually sabotaging the USPS, not merely using it as a bargaining chip. This is a case where certain “media analysts” may be trying to downplay what Trump is really doing.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteYeah, TDH is getting more boring and more bogged down in trivia than usual.
ReplyDeleteAs for QAnon, it's just traditional right wing nuttiness. Descendents of the same people who called President Eisenhower a Communist back in the 1950s.
ReplyDeleteDo you mean mccarthyism, the M.O. that your zombie cult has been replicating and perfecting since 2016?
DeleteYeah, right, traditional right wing nuttiness. Answer this question, dear dembot, please: Is Our Beloved Commander a secret Russian agent?
ma0 ma0 * ,!, ,!,
Delete"secret"?
DeleteNo.
Maddow didn't report on the Clinesmith plea Friday night. None of the idiot liberal blogs like Lawyers Gun and Money or TPM even mention it!
DeleteAstounding.
You poor idiots are treating like total fools by those sources. NYT had to report it but softened it up. And this is just the beginning.
The FBI and the CIA drummed up Russiagate in an effort to sink Trump. They lied and they cheated to get FISA warrants. Obama was most likely aware of it. This is all coming out.
Sounds insane right?
Go read up on Clinesmith and ask yourself why none of the low IQ blogs you read said nothing about it and you will start to understand why. That information has been kept from you by those pathetic partisan hacks.
Don't be surprised when you lose in November. It's because of shit like that. 3 1/2 years of Russiagate which was a non-story from the beginning. Time wasted. Sad.
My side likes to call the other side Fascist, and the other side likes to call my side Communist, but this is getting very stale because Stalin in died 1953 and Hitler died way back in 1945. For quite some time, political partisans have needed new smear words, so along comes "International child sex trafficking ringleader!" and "Russian agent!"
Delete"Blood-drinking, flesh-eating, shape-shifting extraterrestrial reptilian humanoid!" has been moving up on my list of names to call my enemies.
Don't fool yourself, dear dembot: your hate-mongering liberal-hitlerian cult ain't got nothing to do with communism, and never had. And that's a fact.
DeleteCurrently, you're a mere tool of hedge funds and other components of global finance, my dear.
Maddow didn't report on the Clinesmith plea Friday night.
DeleteA guilty plea or two no longer means what it once meant, know what I mean, Boris?
No I don't Senator Joe. That makes no sense and pathetically avoids the issue. (I know you're just a dupe but still it's sad.)
DeleteAndy Cooper and Don Lemon also didn't even mention it Friday night.
Let's be clear - the FBI cheated and lied on their FISA application to surveil Carter Page. How? He was already working for the CIA! He was already giving the CIA info about Russia! But they wanted to spy on Trump and dig up dirt on Trump so they lied about that. So, one of the predicates for the whole Russia investigation was based on a lie by the FBI! And as we all know, the investigation turn up zero conspiracy or collusion between Russia and Trump. No surprise, it was a stupid premise from the start. And Maddow, Lemon and Cooper talked about Russiagate all the time for years and now, when it's shown to be based on lying pro-Clinton FBI agents and lawyers, they don't even mention it!
Anyway, no reason to try to explain it to a toady but it is fascinating. And it's just the start.
You have no idea of the shit that is about to go down. (And maybe you never will if you keep reading those low-IQ propaganda blogs.) The chickens are going to come home to roost for Maddow and the whole Russiagate farce perpetrated by the CIA and FBI.
No I don't Senator Joe. That makes no sense and pathetically avoids the issue. (I know you're just a dupe but still it's sad.)
DeleteOh come on, you know what I mean, Vlad. (See, Flynn, Michael)
Let's be clear - the FBI cheated and lied on their FISA application to surveil Carter Page. How? He was already working for the CIA!
Wrong, Vodka Breath.
Carter Page was the subject of a legitimate counterintelligence investigation months before Crossfire Hurricane got opened, based off conduct that continued three years after CIA had ended approval for Page as an operational contact, based off conduct with multiple Russians — at least one a known intelligence officer — that Page did not share with the CIA. Carter Page was the subject of a counterintelligence investigation started irrespective of all ties Page had formerly had with the CIA that is the issue at the core of the Clinesmith Information.
https://www.emptywheel.net/2020/08/15/the-clinesmith-information-includes-evidence-that-john-durham-misunderstands-his-investigation/
Marcy Wheeler?? lol. She's been wrong about every single thing she's written about Russiagate!! Marcy Wheeler is a discredited fool and a stupid, lying hick.
DeleteWhy did the guy plead guilty? Why did he doctor the email?
But that is what is interesting - how it will be spun or censored by the left who have been fooled and/or lied about the Russiagate farce from the beginning.
I love how Marcy turns to the intelligence community to ask if the intelligence community has done anything wrong. You have to laugh.
I'm not blaming you mm. You're just a pawn in their game.
"Marcy Wheeler is a discredited fool and a stupid, lying hick."
DeleteThis is what I call a cogent argument -- NOT.
The guy pled guilty because they had him dead to rights. He doctored the email because it was easier than going back and requesting a letter from his CIA source. He merely added what his source had already told him over the phone.
This is a nothing-burger that the right is trying to blow up into a big deal, via confusion, because otherwise, they've got nothing. Nothing.
When you use terms like "pawn in their game" you sound like the nuttiest of conspiracy theorists, but that's what the right has become.
Notice how Trump is now saying he has to talk to Putin before the election, to work things out for his reelection, no doubt. And we're supposed to believe that there has been no collusion between the traitor in the White House and Putin? Talk about a pawn.
I am sick of the traitors who write excuses for those who have sold our country down the river to the Russians and Saudis. The Russians are probably laughing every time you use the phrase Russiagate farce. You need to fuck off before I get really angry and start calling you names, like the ones you called the highly respected, veteran blogger Marcy Wheeler. You asshole.
To answer your question Mao, dear, proof that he is a secret Russian agent is right in front of your eyes. What more proof do you need - he names his daughter 'Ivanka.'
Delete"The FBI and the CIA drummed up Russiagate in an effort to sink Trump."
DeleteHa ha ha ha ha ha.
The FBI and CIA? Ha ha ha ha ha.
The whole Russiagate thing was made-up by the Right-wing corporate media (AKA the media), to pretend that it took a foreign power to convince the Republican base to vote for a bigot like Trump.
You'd have to be an idiot to believe the concept.
10:51
DeleteThat is the stupidest post anyone could have ever conceived. Very sorry for you if you believe it.
Good luck. I'm so sorry. I feel so sorry for you if you are serious.
Oh. And they say you never get a straight answer from a dembot.
DeleteThank you, 12:09 PM, case closed.
And now you (and dear Bob) can return our regularly scheduled programming: ridiculing "all that silly-bill [sic] QAnon stuff".
12:48,
DeleteBingo!
It's all in service to their precious white supremacy.
I have no idea who Marcy Wheeler is; sounds like another garden variety soros-dembot.
DeleteBut judging by this opinion piece (and Jonathan Turley certainly is a respected legal analyst), your zombie cabal, dear Hillary, is seriously panicking.
Which, of course, also explains your own bullshit-spewing activity here.
It's good; we'll see what happens.
mm - she didn't provide any sources or backup for her claims. So, we'll see. She was wrong about Russiagate totally on every single claim. Her record speaks for itself.
DeleteAnd if that was really the case, you would thing MSNBC and those weak-loined, righteous indignation blogs would be all over it.
You still are going into an election with a senile, 80 year old has-been who couldn't win the presidency three times before and a platform and party that thinks it's 1996.
Good luck to you though. Really.
No luck needed. Biden will win in a landslide.
DeleteI have it on good authority (the main stream media) that Trump got 61 million votes in 2016 from those who wanted Trump to "drain the swamp" (and not at all because they love bigots).
After 4 years watching Trump hand the economy to Wall Street, give the Establishment a HUGE tax break, and larding his cabinet with the swamp, those 61 million voters will abandon him.
Where will Trump find 61 million voters to replace them?
"who couldn't win the presidency three times before..."
DeleteHas the press even asked Biden which of Trump's six bankruptcies is his favorite?
And if that was really the case....
DeleteIf WHAT was really the case? I still haven't seen you challenge anything specifically. Speak clearly, I understand English is not your mother tongue.
If Page had not been a CIA operational contact for three years and was suspected to be a potential double agent.
DeleteCongratulations then, 3:39 AM, for Biden's forthcoming landslide victory and subsequent rescue of the economy from the hands of Wall Street back to the people.
Delete8:15,
DeletePage had been an "operational contact" for the CIA, but that was officially ended in 2013.
from the DOJ IG Report
On or about August 17, 2016, the Crossfire Hurricane team received a memorandum from the other U.S. government agency detailing its prior relationship with Carter Page, including that Page had been approved as an operational contact for the other agency from 2008 to 2013 and information that Page had provided to the other agency concerning Page’s prior contacts with certain Russian intelligence officers.
His last contact with the CIA was in 2011.
July 2011: Final meeting between Page and CIA. [IG Report 159]
The counter intelligence investigation into Carter Page was opened prior to and independently of Crossfire Hurricane.
April 1, 2016: Counterespionage Section advises NYFO to open an investigation on Page. [IG Report 62]
April 6, 2016: NYFO opens investigation into Page
FBI initiated Crossfire Hurricane on July 31, 2016.
The issue is that Clinesmith was making a distinction between being a "soure" for the CIA rather than an "operational contact".
The point here is the claim you made that "Page was already working for the CIA" is misleading at best since the CIA dropped him because of his ongoing contacts with Russian operatives which he was hiding from the CIA.
8:20,
DeleteThanks, but the Congratulations should go to all the people of the USA and world (who will all be much better off), not just me.
mm - great, then you have nothing to worry about but why did he doctor the FISA app to remove the association with the CIA? Maybe a chronically mistaken blogger knows more than government lawyers and the FBI's Russsiagate investigation was all above board. In the end although, it added up to zilch. There was no proof of collusion or conspiracy and the whole thing was a waste of time that could have been spent making the Democratic party better and stronger. But I guess you didn't need to now that you are headed into an election with an inspirational 80 year old populist who is going to rescue the economy from Wall Street. ;)
Delete9:56,
DeleteUnfortunately, there are no depths the corporate-owned Right-wing media won't stoop to convince people Trump's Republican Party isn't just the KKK of the internet age.
"People who think Russiagate is real are the stupidest people in the world."
DeleteSomeone blaming Russiagate on the deep state and Democrats:
"Hold my beer!"
"His last contact with the CIA was in 2011."
DeleteBullshit, dear Hillary. Quoting an out of context snipped of a footnote to the sentence that states exactly the opposite of what your lying dembot comrade is implying:
"The EC stated that Page "immediately advised [the agents] that due to his work and overseas experiences, he has been questioned by and provides information to representatives of [another U.S. government agency] on an ongoing basis." The EC also noted that agents did not ask Page any questions about his dealings with the other U.S. government agency during the interviews."
If only Putin didn't have those KGB mind-controlling powers, Republicans would never vote for a guy who hated black people.
DeleteLOL.
TDHers need to get out and meet Trump voters. After a few dozen conversations, you'll quickly realize they're all bigots, and will drop this foolish Russia talk.
DeleteIt doesn't matter if she is right or wrong or if I am a jackass. The fact remains there was a criminal indictment of one of the officials behind the Russia investigation and there are more to come.
DeleteEither way, it is huge news that the low-IQ righteous indignation blogs kept from you.

Hey, Mao, how's the weather in Belarus?
DeleteIn mid-June 2017, in response to
concerns expressed by members of the Crossfire Hurricane team, the OGC Attorney
contacted the other U.S. government agency by email to seek clarification about
Page's past status with that agency. The other U.S. government agency responded
by email to the FBI OGC attorney by directing the attorney to memoranda
previously sent to the FBI by the other U.S. government agency that informed the
FBI that Page did previously have a relationship with that other agency and that the
last contact occurred in July 2011. The email also stated, using the other agency's
terminology, that Page had a relationship with that other agency.
Review of Four FISA Applications and
Other Aspects of the FBI’s Crossfire

The quote was not from a footnote, vodka breath.
That was taken from the main body of the DOJ IG Report.
As described in the August 17 Memorandum from the other U.S.government agency to the FBI, Page first met with the other agency in April 2008, after he left Moscow (Page had lived in Moscow from 2004 to 2007), and he had
been approved as an operational contact for the other agency from 2008 to 2013.

Now, it's stupidity in a way. Indolence may be a better word. Or ignorance. One thing is indisputable. There is no evidence of collusion or conspiracy between Russia and Trump.
In you defense, you have been lied to and propagandized on a mass scale.

What's the immigration policy in The Republic of 11:47 AM?
DeleteYes, I am not a Trump supporter.
DeleteI would like to see Trump be defeated but doing it with an 80 year old senile has-been and involving a "resistance" based on a total falsehood (Russiagate) is stupid.
Since you are a toady - it's impossible for you to understand now. But you're not dumb, you will understand soon. I'm just smarter than you and more ahead of my time than you.
12:02,
DeleteI'm neither a toady nor a Democrat supporter.
I would simply like to see the media be honest, and admit the Republican Party, while at it's highest level is a(n obviously) criminal enterprise, that Republican voters OTOH, are bigots who can't make it through life without their precious white supremacy.
If the 2016 election result didn't disabuse the media of their delusions about the GOP, you'd have to conclude they are in on the game.
---------
And seriously "CIA"? "Deep state"?
You should be better than that shit.
It's a little more complicated than you described it. You can't describe a group of 60 million people all in one way, all as bigots. It's more complicated than that. But I feel your pain brother. Keep doing your research with an open mind and refining your views and instincts and you will hopefully begin to see the situation in a more nuanced way, more for what it really is.
DeleteI didn't ay anything about Deep State. But yes, CIA. Seriously. Do your research.
Okay. How many of the 60 million Trump voters aren't bigots? Do you have any names? Any percentages? Ever spoken with any of them? They make it obvious they are, if you listen to them.
Delete---------
Also, I'm not going to come up with your research. You made the accusation.|
BTW, here's my research which backs-up my accusation that trump voters love bigotry.

This may give you some insight:

"Social anxieties certainly did play an important part in Trump’s victories –
particularly in the 2016 Republican primaries, where many voters were indeed motivated by
resentments related to race, ethnicity, immigration, and gender. Social issues were important
in the general election as well. But upon careful examination of several types of data, the real
picture looks considerably more complicated.
Economic factors mattered, too, at both stages. Moreover, in the general election – in
contrast to the primaries – many leading social factors actually tended to hurt rather than help
Trump. Furthermore, the social and economic factors were deeply intertwined with each other
– as becomes apparent upon close examination of Americans’ spontaneous, open-ended
comments about what they “liked” and “disliked” about the parties and candidates. The
importance of economic factors also comes through clearly when we examine the impact of
aggregate (congressional-district-level) contextual data, and when we address the crucial
question of why some Americans switched from voting for Obama (or not voting) in 2012, to
voting for Trump in 2016."
What accusation did I make?
Delete12:57,
DeleteYeah. Because if there is anything Republican voters know anything about, it's how economics works. LOL.
You ever try to talk to these geniuses? Everything they ever learned about economics is from Sean Hannity, ferchrisakes.
I know you're trying, and I can appreciate that, but it's a fools game hoping and wishing Republican voters aren't just in it for the white supremacy.

DeleteHow's all those new coal mining jobs coming along? Mr. Tariff fulfill his campaign promises? To be fair, his daughter did secure multiple trademarks in China.
mm,
DeleteThose Trump voters are so pissed off at Trump for abandoning them and loading even more Wall Street swampers into the government, they're going to badmouth BLM.

Mitt Romney said:
ReplyDelete"Said Romney: “Short term, I think it’s fair to say we really have not distinguished ourselves in a positive way by how we responded to the crisis when it was upon us. And the proof of the pudding of that is simply that we have 5 percent of the world’s population but 25 percent of the world’s deaths due to covid-19.”
Maybe Somerby would like to criticize his choice of statistics?
"we have 5 percent of the world’s population but 25 percent of the world’s deaths due to covid-19"
DeleteYes, sending infected people to nursing homes in liberal-inundated areas would do that.
Do you even know what a nursing home is? This is like complaining about sending sick people to hospitals.
DeleteThe problem with the nursing homes was lack of PPE's due to Trump's mismanagement of stockpiles and his refusal to invoke the Defense Production Act.
Whoa, is this a new soros-dembot talking point: liberal bosses sending COVID19-infected people to nursing homes was the right thing to do?
DeleteI love it. Please go on, dear dembot, keep parroting it, by all means.
...also "do you even know what a nursing home is?" is a nice touch.
Has the liberal cult redefined "nursing home" already? So, what does "nursing home" mean, if you were to translate it from Zombie back to Humyn? The place for COVID19-infected?
"liberal bosses sending COVID19-infected people to nursing homes was the right thing to do?"
DeleteIt is the routine thing to do when people have recovered to the point that they no longer need hospital care but cannot go home (because no one there has the right skills, or because there is no one to provide round-the-clock care).
The problem was that the staff weren't properly equipped to prevent spread of covid, not enough PPE, staff moving from patient to patient and sometimes from nursing home to home (low income workers may have multiple jobs). That would result in spread whether the patients went home and were visited by home nurses or not.
So this is a stupid criticism that ignores the main difficulty, which was the lack of PPE and hospital beds. When the number of cases exceeds hospital capacity, triage begins and only the most serious cases are admitted, but the rest have to go somewhere and they still need care.
You might as well be complaining that the hospitals were spreading covid, because staff without proper PPE were spreading it, not just to patients but to coworkers and family members. That is why there was so much fuss about PPE.
But you don't know what you are talking about. You just make a lot of noise, as you are no doubt paid to do.
Mao,
DeleteIs that really the best argument the Establishment can make? You lazy sacks of shit need to put some effort into your jobs.
Here is an article on Digby's Blog about who the reporters are who ask Trump so many softball questions:

This what media criticism actually looks like -- it is not the garbage Somerby writes here, as a pretense for attacking liberals.

ReplyDeleteby TRISHA McCAULEY, WWMT StaffSaturday, August 15th 2020
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WWMT) — Members of the Proud Boys group moved through western Michigan on Saturday.
The group originally planned to hold a rally in Arcadia Creek Festival Place in Kalamazoo, an outdoor area and event space. After hundreds of counterprotesters and police arrived at the location, the group began to move through the city.
Police had a large presence throughout the demonstration and could be heard over speakers telling crowds to clear from the area.
The Southern Poverty Law Center lists the Proud Boys as a hate group because of what the center says is the group’s frequent denigration of Muslims and Islam, misogynistic rhetoric, and its role as a gateway to other extremist groups.
Kalamazoo city leaders said the Proud Boys did not reserve any park space or request a permit to host an event in the city, but Kalamazoo Deputy City Manager Jeff Chamberlain said groups don’t necessarily need a permit to protest in the city.
A church reserved Arcadia Creek Festival Place at the same time the rally was set to start in what organizers said was a counterprotest against the Proud Boys."
These young fellows should be proud.
