Is Donald J. Trump some version of "mentally ill?:" We generally put the term in quotes to signal the fact that it's a technical term.
Having said that, we'll add this:
In this new post, Kevin Drum says that Donald J. Trump seems to be "clinically delusional." We think the actual term would be something like some version of "mentally ill."
Kevin is responding to reports that Trump actually does believe that he'll be reinstated this summer. Kevin's responding to credible reports that Trump really does believe that.
We said, all along, that it looked to us like Trump did believe his various crazy claims. It would take a clinician to explain how something that strange could be possible.
Instead, we get the successors to Chris Matthews—the entertainers, jugglers and clowns the cable nets put on the air. Around here, the analysts always say that they know what we need but the cable clowns know what we want.
Kevin has come to believe that Trump is "obviously delusional." It has looked that way to us for some time, but isn't the technical term for that "some version of mentally ill?"
Dr. Bandy X. Lee has been booted from Yale. All along, through all the lunacy, the cable stars—Lawrence O'Donnell excepted—agreed that we must never, ever hear from such medical specialists.
The suits didn't want them to raise such concerns. All across the cable landscape, the stars did what they were told.
