Voter explains why he likes Trump!

MONDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2023

We voters have our reasons: In this morning's report, we quoted some of the unusual statements made by Candidate Donald J. Trump in New Hampshire this weekend.

In this A.P. news report, Ramer and Barrow offer a somewhat bowdlerized account of Trump's unusual remarks. They close with this account concerning one youngish voter's reaction:

RAMER AND BARROW (12/17/23): Trump’s argument in New Hampshire resonated with voters like Brandon Sevey, 25, who was attending his first Trump event from nearby Dover. Sevey said he has worked a variety of retail and fast-food jobs and found it easier to find work when Trump was president. Plus, he likes Trump’s brashness.

“He’s loud and obnoxious and annoys people,” Sevey said. “But that’s what I like about him.”

All in all, we the people have always had our reasons.

  2. "Bowdlerized"? Wow.

And wow again; what a great and astonishing discovery: people hate robotic PC balderdash your kind of politicians speak.

  4. No one has ever questioned that Trump appeals to undereducated unskilled workers who like to thumb their noses at authority. It is sad that a person 25 year olds never learned in school what the job of the president is, so that he could make a responsible decision.

Somerby was himself once a teacher but he doesn't seem to recognize the failure this kid represents.

    2. No, that isn’t irony and it definitely isn’t funny. It is sad verging on tragic for all of us.

    3. Someone who is loud and obnoxious is not a leader or someone who can work well with people. It is a sign of someone with no social skills or a lack of interest in others (such as a narcissist). It would be good to vote against someone like that.

  9. New York Times article says Trump is moderate. I agree. His rhetoric can be wild, but his actions as President were not.

To be sure, Mr. Trump’s wild rhetoric, indifference to protocol and willingness to challenge expertise have been profoundly unsettling to people of both political parties. His term in office was frequently chaotic, and the chaos seemed to culminate in the Capitol riot of Jan. 6, 2021. In the current presidential campaign, Mr. Trump has promised to appoint a special prosecutor to “go after” Mr. Biden; he continues to argue that the 2020 election was stolen and that America does not have “much of a democracy right now”; his fondness for incendiary language has not abated.

But it is worth remembering that during his presidency, Mr. Trump’s often intemperate rhetoric and erratic behavior ended up accompanying a host of moderate policies. On matters ranging from health care and entitlements to foreign policy and trade, Mr. Trump routinely rejected the most unpopular ideas of both political parties. Voters seem to have noticed this reality:

    1. A good sign he was moderate is he got himself impeached twice, setting an all-time record. Once for using our treasury to extort a foreign government to smear his opponent, and the second time for inciting an insurrection. Go fuck yourself, David.

    2. One of Trump's most "moderate" acts as president was overturning Roe and turning this country into a dystopian hell hole for women. David always forgets to add that to his list of trump greatness.

    4. More moderate accomplishments from Donald J Chickenshit:

Donald Trump Built a National Debt So Big (Even Before the Pandemic) That It’ll Weigh Down the Economy for Years
The “King of Debt” promised to reduce the national debt — then his tax cuts made it surge. Add in the pandemic, and he oversaw the third-biggest deficit increase of any president.

This is one of David's favorite "moderate" accomplishments.

    5. David,
It's all relative. Next to the extreme bigotry of Republican voters, Trump does seem moderate.

    11. Like Susan Collins, I think Trump learned his lesson.
When Republican voters, who aren't just a shit pile of bigots (hat tip mainstream media), burnt so many of his properties to the ground after he gave the rich and corporations a HUGE tax break, he probably had a change of heart.

    15. another example of Trump's "moderate" acts:

A May 2019 analysis conducted by CNBC found Trump's tariffs are equivalent to one of the largest tax increases in the U.S. in decades.[20][21][22] Studies have found that Trump's tariffs reduced real income in the United States, as well as adversely affecting U.S. GDP.[23][24][25] Some studies also concluded that the tariffs adversely affected Republican candidates in elections.[26][27][28]

Starting a fucking trade war, then unilaterally handing billions to farmers hurt by his impetuous trade war.

Notice, no democrat went to the supreme court to stop those billions from being handed off to the farmers.

  10. It was extremely moderate of Trump to lie to the American people about a global pandemic because he was worried about the stock market, and thereby insuring roughly 400000 unnecessary deaths of Americans.
