For basic chronology, start here: We return to the basic chronology of what happened in Newark, New Jersey on Friday, May 9.
It happened at the Delaney Hall detention center, a facility run by ICE. The events in question have produced an assault charge against Rep. LaMonica McIver (-NJ)—but also a rather large ball of confusion, even twelve days later.
Even as the event was unfolding, it triggered the standard lunatic conduct from inside MAGAWorld. The next morning, the claims by Homeland Security's Tricia McLaughlin got even crazier. For the basic background concerning these largely abandoned claims, see yesterday afternoon's report.
McLaughlin was making hysterical claims; over at the Fox News Channel, the children began reciting. That said, what actually happened in Newark that day? What was the basic chronology?
As fa as we know, a few basic parts of that chronology remain unclear at this time. As we noted yesterday, yesterday's report in the New York Times was a study in chronological incoherence.
Amazingly, the Times didn't even report the account of the day's events which has emerged from Rep. McIver and her two congressional colleagues. We'll offer links below.
As we noted yesterday, the three House members appeared on several cable news shows from May 9 through May 11. Just to establish the basic state of play, this seems to be the basic chronology, at least as they have described it:
Basic chronology, May 9
With respect to the basic chronology, here's what the three reps have said:
The arrival and the sitting around: According to the congressional reps, they arrived at the facility seeking an unannounced inspection. They've described as their statutory right. It's obvious why an unannounced inspection might be preferable in many situations.
According to the House members, they were ushered into the Delaney Hall facility. For whatever reason, they say they were then left to sit in a room for an hour and a half without being allowed to conduct an inspection.
The turmoil involving the mayor: After they'd sat around inside the building for roughly ninety minutes, the three House members began to wonder if they were being stonewalled. In a way we can't describe, they then ended up outside the building. That's where the turmoil occurred, including the arrest of Mayor Baraka for alleged trespassing.
That trespassing charge against Mayor Baraka is now being dropped. It was also there that Rep. McIver engaged in the conduct which has now been termed a criminal act of assault. We haven't seen an account of the way the three congressional reps ended up back outside the building.
At long last, the tour: After the mayor had been frog-marched away, the three House members were then escorted back inside the building and were finally given their tour. As far as we know, everyone seems to agree with this basic part of the chronology. If it's accurate, that means that Rep. McIver was allowed back inside and given a tour after she had criminally assaulted two (2) federal officers.
Those are the three parts of the chronology which seem to be in place. We'll also mention the three basic locales which seem to be part of this story:
Also, the three locales
Three different locales play a part in this story. These are the three locales:
1) Inside the facility—inside the building itself
2) Outside the building itself, but still inside the security fence
3) Outside the security fence—back on public property
Those were the three locales.
Who was where, and at what juncture? When did Mayor Baraka arrive? How did the scuffle get started? In what way did the three reps end up back outside?
Only the Shadow seems to know! For reasons only the Times can explain, yesterday's news report pretty much wasn't telling.
For extra credit only: Watch the House members describe these events! We offer three opportunities:

ReplyDeleteWe will not stand for your promoting a revisionist history of the event by downplaying the severity of the violence, spreading conspiracy theories, and portraying those charged with crimes as hostages and martyrs, Mr. Somerby.
The May 9 insurrectionists must be punished, and order must be restored.
$5 million to each family of the perpetrators!
DeleteThe only thing missing from the ICE goons are the brown shirts and red arm bands.
DeleteWe all aware of your taste in uniforms, Mr. Soros.
Deletewho is "we", maggot breath?
DeleteI'm Nazi and you're glue, what you say bounces of me and sticks to you.
DeleteThat would sound like the latest Republican budget proposal, if the Republican budget proposal was more adult.
DeleteBy showing up unannounced and trying to barge their way in, they broke the law. And then by physically assaulting the ICE officers, they broke another law. They deserve time in jail. Democrats are not above the law.
ReplyDeleteThe video of the event is almost as convincing as photoshopped knuckles. Go ahead and link to the "storming the facility" documentation.
DeleteAn unannounced inspection does not constitute "barging their way in" and it is within the law because they have oversight duties in congress. Any physical assault is alleged not proven.
DeleteI am confused. Isn't ICE part of the "deep state"? Don't we want our representatives exercising their constitutional oversight powers?
DeleteIdiot America does not realize we were fine without fckng ICE ICE BABY for 200+ years and then the Supreme Court handed an election to idiot shrub and things got fcked up in a hurry.
Delete"By showing up unannounced and trying to barge their way in, they broke the law."
ReplyDeleteOh, really? Which law?
In other words, democrats are above the law.
ReplyDeleteI assure you I would be in jail right now if I assaulted an ICE agent.
But if you assaulted the Capitol Police, you'd either be just fine or your family would be $5 million the richer for it.
DeleteYou're just another in a long line of weak and easily manipulate anti-Trump crybabies who allows the leftist media to do all your thinking for you. I just want to remind you that people like you have become completely irrelevant and you can thank the psychotic Democrats.
DeleteYou okay, snowflake?
DeleteAll we owe we owe to him. I am not a deranged cultist. I want to ride naked with Putin and Rump and watch their fat old asses bounce. Nice. Real nice!
DeleteOnce they get you to believe in something as ridiculous as God, getting you to believe the FBI was colluding to keep info about Biden family crimes from the voters is child's play.
DeleteThe Trump is the Republican voters shepherd, the Republican voters are all sheep.
Delete8:34 Let us all know when you get tired of your "leftist media" whining, because it's been going on since Newt Gingrich was relevant. The felons that injured over 100 Capitol Police were pardoned by your cult master, or are you unaware of this? But just to be clear, dumbass, any of the involved parties in that incident would be in jail if they had assaulted an ICE agent. Your logic, that Trump's ICE agents would not hold those who had assaulted them responsible because they are Democrats is beyond ludicrous. Nobody stormed the gates, nobody assaulted ICE agents and nobody was charged with a crime on account of this. It's all bullshit that has zero video documentation and 100% acceptance by rubes like yourself. Go ahead and explain why no one was charged without embarrassing yourself this time. You wouldn't make the cut for a middle school debate club.
DeleteTry searching for the truth sometime instead of listening to the parade of lying, psychotic Democrat trash who spend all day posting on X instead of working for the American people you dumb fag. You're simply parroting what every psychotic Democrat has been posting ad nauseam all day every day. Not only are we hearing it all day every day, we've been hearing this same bullshit for years. Democrats are in full swing lying and trying to support Rep McIver. Fact is she was NOT in the realm of her responsibilities. The videos clearly show her throwing elbows and punches at ICE agents. Remember the Democrats saying no one is above the law, well if this was any citizen they would be incarcerated. She doesn’t get a pass because she is a congresswoman. Grow some balls PUSSY FAG.
DeleteLike I said dumbass, go ahead and explain why no one was charged. And while you are at it, get some help. You can't undo whatever went on with you and your parents, but a professional will help you understand what is wrong with you. All caps on "pussy fag"? Read up on Roy Cohn and get back to us when you can see yourself more clearly.
DeleteDemocrats don't use X moron.
DeleteWhere's DOGE?
DeleteHow efficient is it to have the nation protected from gangbangers, by ICE, who got their asses kicked by a lady?
Somerby says the three visitors wondered whether they were being stonewalled after 90 minutes waiting for their tour. Isn't it obvious they were, especially when there was a "scuffle" and they were being denied entry? There would have been no barging in or scuffling or "physical assault" necessary if the facility had given them the tour they were entitled to. So, what is ICE hiding and why the stonewalling?
ReplyDeleteCan a Congress person just show up at a prison and demand to go inside a cell block, without waiting for proper security measures to be put in place?
ReplyDeleteWhy add the part about not waiting? They waited 90 minutes. But remember that security precautions are already in place to protect the staff and administrators. The pont of an unannounced visit is to see the facility as it usually is, not after it is prepared for the visit.
DeleteThis isn't about a prison. It's about an ICE detention facility operated by a private contractor, And yes, a congressperson CAN "just show up" and gain admittance--when ICE obeys the law.
Delete
DeleteSo, you sit in a basement somewhere and yet you're the world's best expert on the rules at ICE facilities?
Impressive.
Every homeless person, every person who owns a home, and all renters know there is no such thing as a Republican voter who isn't a bigot. Obviously.
DeleteWhat are you referring to when u write Ice Cream Facilities?
DeleteHey 8:25, educated experts on authoritarians agree!!! ""Yet Smith and Hanley don’t shy from the implications in “Authoritarianism From Below: Why and How Donald Trump Follows His Followers,” in which they write that “75% of Trump’s voters supported him enthusiastically, mainly because they shared his prejudices, not because they were hurting economically.”" Bigoted assholes, but not the whole lot of them. "Only" 75%!
DeleteOne thing is for sure, the people that tried to warn Democrats that Biden was too old were right and those that mocked the suggestion and belittled the people making it we're tragically wrong and titanically foolish. Which side were you on?.
ReplyDeleteIt was a gigantic mistake by Democrats to treat black people as equals in the eyes of the law.. It cost them the 2024 Presidential election.
DeleteYou were one of the ones who got all upset that anyone would speak the obvious truth about his age and condition?
DeleteI was upset that the even more cognitively impaired way too old to be a fucking President felon still gets a pass while he paints his face orange, glues his hair plugs down, and shouts stupid shit high on drugs to appear viral. Mr. giant water valve in CA, death by sharks or batteries, and eating our cats and dogs just tried to insult the President of South Africa by showing a cocked up video from another country. Dementia Don is so far gone. Yet nothing from the press, frightened by his fascist minions threats and actions. There is no reason to have all these ancient folks in office or the courts. Mandatory retirement at 65.
DeleteThat's one of the reasons people were trying to get you to see Biden was too old. He didn't have a chance to beat Trump. But you wouldn't listen. So don't bitch now about Trump. YOU elected him. He's yours, dumbass.
Delete10:01,
DeleteNice try. You were trying to get me to look at Hunter Biden's penis online, because you thought it would give me the same excited feelings it gave you.
Ask any of your Republican friends who aren't bigots. They remember.
When Biden was confronted with a picture of Hunter's massive erection he said, "that's my boy!"
DeleteHow the he'll is being a few months younger than handsome Joe not too old to be President? People here make zero sense.
DeleteIt's too bad that Biden ran. We know now everyone behind the scenes knew it was a disaster but the people around him successfully foisted him on us, with your help thank you very much. And now we all gotta pay. People tried to tell you. And you just acted like a total dick. And it brought us Trump. In terms of politics, you're a really dumb dick.
Delete11:10,
DeleteYou should have voted harder.
It sucks to be you.
(Bloomberg) -- The Trump administration has asked the US Supreme Court to halt a judge’s order that would force it to answer questions from a watchdog group and turn over documents about Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency in a fight over public access to the office’s records.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Transparency for thee, but not for me apparently.
Dodgy>>>>DOGE.
DeleteNo identity politics in Trump's big ugly budget bill. It purposefully fucks over rural white people, which is what the people voted for last November.
ReplyDeleteIt's not perfect, we all want to see more white working class people suffer, obviously, but I still count it as a promise by Trump being kept.
Yep, I honestly am beginning to respect Trump's honesty in fucking over the white trash that supports him so unconditionally. He knows he can take a giant shit on their heads and they will thank him for it.
DeleteWhite people suffering is what we voted for.
Delete2 dolls for all the beautiful little girls
DeleteAlways remember what Dear Leader said re Epstein, "we like them young." Or, Trump: “My daughter is beautiful, Ivanka." Stern: “By the way, your daughter…”
DeleteTrump: “ - she’s beautiful" Stern: “Can I say this? A piece of ass.” Trump: “Yeah.” The President of the United States of America people. Still a fucking creep..
The Republican Party's disdain for Republican voters is making this country great again.
ReplyDeleteDear White Working Class Voters,
ReplyDeleteFuck off and die.
Sincerely,
The Republican Party.
It's time for American Jews to realize that the American Left is not their friends. Their Woke ideology is directly responsible for that horrible shooting in DC.
ReplyDeleteIt's anti-semitic to criticize ethnic cleansing. Shooting Jews is just illegal, like driving over the speeding limit or overstaying your visa.
Delete9:59 = More identity politics from the American Right.
Delete-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. How many Right-wing accusations are really confessions?
A. All of them, Katie.
Serious question. Since Jesus was (is) woke, how can I be a Christian? Life is so hard.
