MONDAY, JUNE 2, 2025
So says President Trump: On Saturday night, as the midnight hour approached, there he went again.
In this case, the New York Times actually reported the sitting president's presentation. His post appeared on Truth Social on Saturday night as the witching hour drew near.
More accurately, if only colloquially, it was the sitting president's latest crazy presentation. The New York Times was somewhat slow to report what he'd done. But here's the heart of its (remarkably brief) news report about this latest event:
Trump Amplifies Another Outlandish Conspiracy Theory: Biden Is a Robotic Clone
President Trump shared an outlandish conspiracy theory on social media on Saturday night saying former President Joseph R. Biden had been “executed in 2020” and replaced by a robotic clone, the latest example of the president amplifying dark, false material to his millions of followers.
Mr. Trump reposted a fringe rant that another user had made on the president’s social media platform, Truth Social, just after 10 p.m. on Saturday. The White House did not respond to requests for comment on the post about Mr. Biden, whom Mr. Trump has targeted for criticism almost daily since the start of his second term.
The president has blamed Mr. Biden for all manner of societal ills and assailed his mental acuity, including with the specious theory that Mr. Biden’s aides used an autopen to enact policies and issue pardons without Mr. Biden’s knowledge. (Mr. Trump has acknowledged that his administration uses the autopen system on occasion.)
Mr. Trump has long had a penchant for sharing debunked or baseless theories online, but his embrace of conspiracies is not limited to social media. He has also elevated false claims inside the White House and surrounded himself with cabinet officials promoting such theories.
That's the way the remarkably brief report started. We don't know why the Times used the term "specious" in the way it did, but let's not wander off track.
Yes, he actually did it! As the midnight hour drew near, the sitting president of the United States— the most powerful person in the world—reposted another "fringe" claim.
We're not sure why the Times used the term "fringe," but here's what the president reposted:
President Biden was executed in 2020. He was then replaced by a clone!
So the sitting president has said, or has at least seemed to say. It's obvious where this takes us:
That figure you saw in that famous debate back in June 2024? That wasn't President Biden at all, according to the powerful person who now sits in the White House.
That wasn't President Biden at all! That was just a clone! So President Trump has now said. And yes, that's what he reposted on Saturday night. That's what he thereby said.
For journalists, an obvious problem arises in the course of reporting this matter. The question goes like this:
What sort of word should a journalist use to describe this astounding behavior? It isn't the first time Trump has done something like this—but what sorts of words should be used?
As you can see, the Times went with the term "outlandish" in its opening paragraph, and also in its headline. As the body of its short report proceeded, it used a few other terms, including such comically odd understatements as "false" and also "baseless."
Other news orgs chose stronger terms to describe the president's post. Below, you see some of the words which appeared in the headlines as other news orgs struggled to find a way to report what this person has done:
Trump Spreads Bizarre Conspiracy Theory That Biden Was Executed and Replaced by a Robot Clone
Trump Shares Unhinged Conspiracy Theory That Biden Is a Robot Clone
Trump Amplifies Bonkers Conspiracy Theory That Biden Was ‘Executed’ in 2020 and Replaced By Clones
Mediaite went with "bonkers." Rolling Stone selected "bizarre;" The Daily Beast chose "unhinged."
Comically, Newsweek settled for the kinder-and-gentler "baseless;" USA Today went with "false." But when Fox News reported what Trump had done, this was the headline that outspoken news org chose:
Trump shares post saying Biden was executed, replaced with clones
Just the facts, some editor said. In its headline and in its report, Fox News simply reported what Trump had (inferentially) said. Fox reported, then let readers decide.
While we're at it, let's add this:
This very morning, as we type, the Washington Post doesn't seem to have reported this latest behavior at all. Nothing to look at, the paper is saying. As in the past, to too now:
Nothing to see here! Just move along!
Various orgs chose various words to describe what this person had done. None of them chose the clinical (and colloquial) term which may take us to the heart of the matter:
Noen of them chose the clinical term in which the sitting president, once again, had advanced a "delusional" statement.
"Delusional!" The word is widely used in colloquial speech, but it's also a clinical term.
It's right there in the DSM. As the leading authority on such matters notes, there is a clinical diagnosis known as "Delusional disorder." You can start to ponder the syndrome simply by clicking here.
We'll discuss such matters as the week proceeds— and any such clinical disorder is of course a human tragedy. For today, let's say this:
Like the citizens of a famous realm whose emperor had a new suit of clothes, our major news orgs have worked very hard, for all these years, to avoid seeing what has often seemed to be sitting right there before them.
That avoidance of apparent reality isn't going to change today. Almost surely, it will never change at all. This is the way we humans are wired. This is the way we're built.
That said, we ourselves will spend the week discussing the (clinical) concepts of "Delusion" and "Delusional disorder." Because there the president went again, this past Saturday night.
Meanwhile, also this:
Over Memorial Day weekend, battling a touch of the labyrinthitis, we headed off tin search of something more interesting that "all this now too much for us."
During our junior year in college, we took Deductive Logic from the late Professor Quine, Philosophy of Science from the late Professor Putnam. Aa far as we've ever known, each man was a thoroughly good and decent person.
Over that weekend, we learned something we'd never known before. We learned that Professors Quine and Putnam had collaborated on this at a later point in time:
Quine–Putnam indispensability argument
The Quine–Putnam indispensability argument is an argument in the philosophy of mathematics for the existence of abstract mathematical objects such as numbers and sets, a position known as mathematical platonism. It was named after the philosophers Willard Van Orman Quine and Hilary Putnam, and is one of the most important arguments in the philosophy of mathematics.
On its face, too funny! At least as described by the leading authority, this is what those highly regarded logicians had done:
In one of the most important arguments in the philosophy of mathematics, they had crested an argument for the existence of numbers! Or so the authority says!
Was that conduct delusional too? Is this just more of the way we humans are wired? Also, does this explain why our failing public discourse has received so little guidance from our greatest logicians and ethicists—from our greatest "philosophers?"
(From an earlier profile on Wikipedia: "A 2009 poll conducted among analytic philosophers named Quine as the fifth most important philosopher of the past two centuries.")
We'll throw those questions in as the week proceeds. For now, let's stick with this:
BREAKING! President Biden was executed in 2020! After he was executed, he was replaced by a clone!
So said President Trump, last Saturday night. And, as many of those news orgs said:
The White House did not respond to requests for comment.
We wonder why that is.
Is something wrong with President Trump? If so, that would of course represent a tragic loss of human capability. The same was true of President Biden's apparent loss of cognitive capacity during his time in the White House, though possibly starting earlier.
Also this:
Is something wrong with the august journalists who still refuse—who are always going to refuse—to investigate or describe what's seems to be right there before them?
Who still insist, in various ways, that there's nothing to look at there? That we should keep moving along?
Tomorrow: 2 + 2, the sitting president said
Trump's squealing is getting louder and higher pitched by the day.
ReplyDeleteYou gotta love it.
"MEXICO CITY (The Borowitz Report)—In a move likely to stir controversy, Mexico has officially renamed the Liberty Bell “the TACO Bell,” the Mexican president announced on Monday.
ReplyDeleteEffective immediately, the landmark will be referred to as the TACO Bell in all Mexican atlases, encyclopedias, and history textbooks, President Claudia Sheinbaum said.
In her announcement, she gave Donald J. Trump “full credit” for the name change.
“Thanks to Donald Trump, when one thinks of America, one no longer thinks of liberty,” she said. “One thinks of TACO.”
Funny, then I think of Tuesday.
DeleteSomerby is still pretending the media isn't a Right-wing rat-fucking machine.
ReplyDeleteHe's teetering into Sam Alito-level of laziness, with his latest screeds that try to prove his case.
ReplyDelete"Trump Amplifies Another Outlandish Conspiracy Theory: Biden Is a Robotic Clone"
Ha-ha. I already know that all you idiot-Democrats are retards. But thanks for the laughs anyway!
Squeal louder, Soros-bot.
DeleteTDS rots the brain. The Times and Bob fail to recognize an obvious joke.
DeleteBTW note that Trump just successfully promoted Biden’s cognitive difficulties.
David, Trump was not joking. Neither was the person he retweeted.
DeleteBill Clinton said he saw no cognitive decline in Biden. How much evidence does anyone need that this is garbage about Biden's decline? Refusal to believe evidence is the essence of right wing thinking.
If Biden were being cloned by Democrats, wouldn't they have made him appear more vigorous, younger, while they had the chance? What is the point of producing a clone that couldn't do that debate better?
If we can harness the energy of David in Cal's white grievance, we won't need nuclear energy to power the Earth.
DeleteI would say Trump Cult Derangement has taking its toll on DiC, but he's always been an idiot and an ass.
DeleteWhat I called a joke is, more precisely, a funny metaphor. It's a humorous way of saying that Biden's behavior was so bad that a robot could have behaved similarly. Will Bob now debunk the malicious claim spread by Abbott and Costello that a baseball player named "Who" was playing first base and "What" was playing second base?
DeleteBTW it really is possible that Biden may not have been running the Presidency. There is evidence that most of President Biden's signatures were done by autopen. By comparison, President Obama only used the autopen once, when he was out of the country.
https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/33768992/joe-biden-autopen-white-house-docs/
Accusations of "TDS" are highly correlated with those that abuse minors, they are basically outing themselves as pedos.
DeleteYou call it a joke then repeat the conspiracy theory yourself!
DeleteThese are not sincere people, the cruelty (bullying/trolling) is the point for them.
DeleteIt appears that Trump is exhibiting BDS, or Biden Derangement Syndrome. It's obvious that much like with other bat-guano insane statements this one would be chucked up to Trump's "sense of humor".
DeleteLet's stipulate to that, and then ask what immediately pops into one's head: (a) why is Trump still obsessing over Biden, who is no longer president? (b) what's the context of this joke? Is it that Trump, absent any accomplishments of his own, can only exist in the realm where he's putting down others.
It all started with his innocent joke about Obama being born in Kenya. Let's recount Trump's funniest quips:
1. One should inject bleach to treat COVID-19
2. Trump will solve inflation on day one; the price of eggs will come down on day one.
3. There will be peace in Ukraine on day one.
4. There will be peace in Gaza on day one.
I am sure I am forgetting a shit ton of other funny remarks Trump has made. Here's a question for the cult: how does one know when Trump is serious?
"how does one know when Trump is serious?"
DeleteWhen he says something bigoted.
Same way you can tell when Republican voters are being serious.
Ilya - #1 is hoax. Even the left-wine Snopes eventually acknowledged this, although it took them several years. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/trump-inject-bleach-covid-19/
DeleteDavid: #1 is not a "hoax". Trump mused about whether it was possible to treat COVID-19 by injecting bleach. True, he never explicitly said: if you have COVID, inject bleach.
DeleteAgain, though, it underscores the problem with dealing with the doddering old fool. He says lots of outrageous things, and no one quite knows what to make out of it. I forgot to add: making a beach resort out of Gaza.
Snopes is not wine, and no longer left wing. It has joined the chorus of the right wing bullshit machine. And the only reason why the felon is humping Biden is he has accomplished nothing but a shit sandwhich, and the rightwing bullshit machine is in overdrive to hide that and the but ugly budget busting big fu bill. And that nasty little shit Johnson lying about the bills impact. I am so sick of these fake Christian and fake patriot Rethugs. Not an ounce of integrity outside of a handful, and they work overtime to drive those few out. Sick little political cult you got there. And dic is an idiot and an ass.
Delete"We don't know why the Times used the term "specious" in the way it did, but let's not wander off track."
ReplyDelete"We're not sure why the Times used the term "fringe," but here's what the president reposted:"
specious definition: "superficially plausible, but actually wrong"
fringe definition: "not part of the mainstream; unconventional, peripheral, or extreme"
This is the way Somerby plays coy, pretending that the NY Times may have a point about Biden's clone or his autopen misuse, and that Trump's repetition of these bizarro theories is not as extreme as it seems. This is the way Somerby leaves the door open, allowing a reader to think he agrees with such theories in a nudge-nudge wink-wink way. It his how Somerby tries to have things both ways, suggesting that the view Trump "amplified" is both wrong and maybe right (to those in the know) at the same time.
Then Somerby pretends to chastise the NY Times for using too mild language:
"What sort of word should a journalist use to describe this astounding behavior? It isn't the first time Trump has done something like this—but what sorts of words should be used?
As you can see, the Times went with the term "outlandish" in its opening paragraph, and also in its headline. As the body of its short report proceeded, it used a few other terms, including such comically odd understatements as "false" and also "baseless."
But Somerby himself questioned the words fringe and specious, which mean false and emanating from an extreme source (as used). I see nothing wrong with the way the NY Times has described Trump's bizarre behavior. I do not understand why this is not enough for Somerby, who seems to be trying to confuse his readers about both Biden and Trump.
Somerby continues his tirade against Biden's mental abilities (which is clearly wrong and today was refuted by Bill Clinton, who said he saw no decline in Biden during his term). But then he suggests that something is wrong with Trump, while claiming it is his mental health (craziness) and not dementia.
The effect of all of Somerby's lying about Biden and Trump is to confuse readers about what may be actually wrong with Trump. It is that Trump is too old and has been declining dramatically since even his first term in office. Trump believes odd theories about Biden because he has lost the ability to evaluate and judge what is true in the world. Trump has dementia. Biden has cancer, not a "decline." Somerby will not abandon his own specious, fringe theory about Biden because that might require him to admit he was wrong when he torpedoed Biden, then Harris and helped put a demented Trump into office. So Somerby works overtime to put across the idea that Biden was demented but Trump is just crazy as usual (when he is clearly much worse than in 2015).
Putnam and Quine have nothing to do with Biden and Trump. Somerby does this name-dropping to appear "smart" and to lend weight to his own garbage. I doubt he has read either philosopher, because if he had he wouldn't think Wittgenstein still challenged all of philosophical thought over language problems that Quine and Putnam solved in their own work.
It is time for Somerby to find other things to do with his spare time. He is destructive to our shared effort to save our democracy, at a time when his antics are not cute but distressing. He is trying to undermine scholarly thought by mocking it with his own clueless ramblings and that just isn't funny any more.
If Somerby isn't a Conservative, why is his writing so lazy and uninspired?
DeleteSomerby is older than Trump. He is lazy but I wouldn't call him uninspired. He seems highly motivated to beat the dead horse of Biden's presidency, along with the rest of the conservatives, as a distraction from Trump's failures.
DeleteOver at Political Wire, Taegan Goddard is suggesting that Harris would not be able to win the Governor's race, should she run. Trolls in his comment section echo the attack on Biden/Harris here. The talking point seems to be that "Harris toast" as that exact phrase is popping up in various places. That is ridiculous, as commenters rushed to point out in response to the NY Times hit on Harris today.
The key to defeating propaganda is to recognize it for what it is. That's why addressing Somerby's garbage is necessary. Misinformation needs to be rebutted. Harris has won three elections in CA and would likely beat whoever decided to run against her for Governor. She has yet to decide whether she wants to run or not.
It is unclear where this opposition to her is coming from. No Republican is going to win in CA. Newsom is termed out. Who is meddling in Democratic politics like this? With Trump running amok, is this really the time to split the Democratic party? Is this attack on Harris being funded by the right (and/or Russia)? Is this an advance attempt to clear the way for whoever runs in 2028 after Trump?
Somerby is the Eric Weinstein of bloggers.
DeleteI was thinking that myself, esp when Somerby discusses Einstein & Wittgenstein.

Delete"Is something wrong with President Trump? If so, that would of course represent a tragic loss of human capability. The same was true of President Biden's apparent loss of cognitive capacity during his time in the White House, though possibly starting earlier."
ReplyDeleteThere was no tragic loss of capability with Biden, as evidenced by his achievements while president. He did an excellent job. It is hard to think of what he might have done better (other than that one debate).
Trump never had the capability to be president. That was evidence in his first administration, where he did so many things wrong that he made himself the laughingstock of the world. You have to have capability to lose it. But Trump used to be good at revving up crowds at rallies. He lost that ability during his second campaign, where his decline from his previous low level of functioning was obvious. Now Trump doesn't know what anyone is talking about, repeats himself and cannot stay on topic during a conversation or at a press briefing, has appointed clowns to high office and spends no time governing. He is destroying our nation while trying to make himself dictator, so that he can gain back the love of daddy Putin. And he spends his time playing golf and grifting. Unlike Biden, Trump has been the focus of several articles by concerned professionals who have suggested he may have dementia, not sociopathy. And no one has the nerve to call for cognitive testing, not even Somerby (who blames the press, not those who have the actual responsibility for monitoring the president).
Somerthing is wrong with Somerby. Whatever it is, has been wrong since 2015. I hope he is being paid well for selling out his country. Others are getting billions.
"It is hard to think of what he might have done better (other than that one debate)."
DeleteClearly, for some, it is hard to think.
OK, list a few things Biden could have done better.
Delete"Clearly, for some, it is hard to think."
DeleteThat's why they have Christopher Rufo "thinking" for them.
Things Biden could have done better
Delete1. Not allowed 10 million illegal immigrants to enter the country
2. Not run a $2 trillion deficit during a time of peace and prosperity and no covid shutdown.
3. Deterred Russia from invading Ukraine.
Imagine how much the deficit would be if Biden spent the money needed to keep 10 million illegal immigrants from entering the country.
DeleteHe could have run that baby up to $5 Trillion.
1. Here is a side-by-side comparison of Trump’s 1st term immigration policies and Biden’s. No one wants what Trump is doing now.
Deletehttps://www.piie.com/blogs/realtime-economics/2024/trump-vs-biden-immigration-side-side-policy-comparison
2. Biden’s deficit resulted from Trump’s tax cut to the wealthy. Everyone knows that.
3. Not even Trump, Putin’s bestie, can deter Putin’s war.
I’m sure Biden tried. Biden had nearly negotiated a ceasefire in Gaza but Trump derailed it by meeting with Netanyahu at Mar a Lago before the election, sabotaging Biden’s peace efforts.
1. That's too silly to respond to. Of course Trump did a better job than Biden at keeping out migrants
Delete2. Biden wasn't constrained by Trump's tax rates. Biden and the Dems had the power to raise tax rates but they chose not to do so.
3. Trump DID deter Putin's war. Under Obama and under Biden, Putin took parts of Ukraine bym military force. Under Trump, Putin didn't even try.
Interest rates and the US bond market hit Biden hard. But the idea of jaggoff David bringing up Dem deficits is fucking pathetic. Just a smarmy piece of shit repeatedly ignoring the budget busting Republican tax cuts and lambasting Dems who are always having to patch their budget idiocy. If the bullshit BBB gets thru as is, US bond market will collapse and we are fucked. Good job Christ hating unpatriotic Repub scum.
DeleteThe National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) has released the results of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) for the 2024 school year. Known as the “Nation’s Report Card,” NAEP assesses the reading and math skills of America’s fourth and eighth graders. The latest report reveals something surprising: after adjusting for demographics, the reading and math scores of students in Mississippi and Louisiana, two heavily Republican states and among the poorest in the nation, have surpassed those in deeply Democratic states such as California and New York.
ReplyDeleteThe secret of Mississippi and Louisiana’s educational success is not secret at all; it is about returning to the fundamentals and following the evidence.
Good for Mississippi and Louisiana teaching children reduced tax revenues lead to high deficits.
DeleteMaybe those kids will grow-up to write for the "Wall Street Journal".
As described the last time this came up, MS did a great deal more than return to fundamentals. It retrained all of its teachers, created specialist positions to work with struggling children in the early grades and invested in have resource specialists trained in how children learn to read at every school in the state. It invested in a 10-year program that took money and effort and is now paying off in increased test scores. It also integrated black and white students in its schools.
DeleteThese gains may be going down the tubes now, since LA has introduced legislation to resegregate its schools. With the destruction of the Department of Education, NAEP testing may be discontinued. Thank Trump for making the destruction of a newly improved school system possible. The last thing right wingers want is an educated constituency.
In my state enormous tax revenues produced an enormous deficit. Pols can always spend your money faster than they collect it.
DeleteDavid, have you forgotten that there was a very big fire in your state while FEMA funds are being withheld by Trump? The same happened with the Paradise fire during Trump's last term. Is it wrong for "Pols" to spend state revenues on disaster relief, much less education?

We've tried everything short of making rich people pay their fair share of taxes, and still we have a deficit problem.
DeleteIn a perfect world, we could afford secure borders. Alas, we don't live in a perfect world.
The deficit is an abstract concept, not something real in the world. What is real is the spending that makes people's lives better, what you can buy with the money (which is another abstract concept). In CA, secure borders are not as big a problem as dealing with wildfires, homelessness, poverty, climate change, educating people in our universities, maintaining our agricultural resources, and helping residents of the state have good lives.
DeleteDavid, the fires are the result of climate change which produces high winds and much hotter temperatures. Republicans like Caruso are using a tragedy to make political hay by claiming management could have prevented the fire, which no expert has said was possible. Stop spreading these lies here. It hurts people to believe wrong things.
DeleteAs a fire protection engineer, Jesus the stupid, it burns. Residential fire mains are general!y 6 or 8 inches. With age turberculation builds up reducing the working diameter. Most cities can supply maybe three trucks before hydraulic main collapse effectively turns the hydrants off. This is the design anywhere in the developed world. And of course wind blowing burning embers miles past the fire line makes containment impossible. Went to a lab with a giant wall of fans demonstrating this phenomenon. Ignorant people should not opine about stuff they know nothing about. That goes double for dichead.
DeleteDavid does not line in California.

Best to label him a troll and move on.
10:14's claim is misleading at best.
DeleteIn reality, LA and MISS' scores are essentially identical to CA's and CA has shown more improvement than those two states since 1990 (when the state started to become a blue state).
Furthermore for average or above average students, CA does better than those states.
CA has a large population of ESL immigrants that states like LA and MISS do not have to deal with, which drags down CA's scores particularly in earlier grades like 4th grade, which makes CA's 8th grade scores all the more impressive.
Texas has a large population of ESL immigrants and ZERO income tax. CA's income tax rate goes up to 12.3%. Yet,, Texas's schools and highways are just as good as California's.
DeleteThere are no educated Democrats.
DeleteI often wonder why Texas doesn't boast more about their large population of ESL immigrants.
Delete"That avoidance of apparent reality isn't going to change today. Almost surely, it will never change at all. This is the way we humans are wired. This is the way we're built.
ReplyDeleteThat said, we ourselves will spend the week discussing the (clinical) concepts of "Delusion" and "Delusional disorder." Because there the president went again, this past Saturday night."
Why does Somerby say crap like this. Humans do not and have not lived in delusion over time. To do so would make us less effective at dealing with our environment. The environment doesn't care whether we believe in it or not, what delusions we hold about it, it goes on existing as it is regardless of our beliefs. Over time, evolutionary processes dictate that the closer we live in reality, the better we can function to stay alive and propagate the species.
Humans have the ability to compare our beliefs against evidence of our senses, knowledge and understanding about the world. Those who are closest to reality tend to thrive. This is true in all aspects of our daily lives now as well (not just prehistoric times), as the more we know about our businesses, friends and neighbors, how the world works, the better we function in our world. People who are less aware of the world do worse, financially, socially, healthwise and in terms of efficiency. Delusional people get ripped off, lose money, don't take care of themselves and their bodies, do weird things and take dangerous chances that make them less safe.
So, the opposite of Somerby's claim about delusion is true for human beings. The job of therapist is to help clients gain more congruity between their thoughts and their environment. Those who cannot do that need protected environments like rest homes or memory care facilities or mental institutions. Trump has been protected by his money and the ability to surround himself with caretakers who shield him from the consequences of his misguided actions based on delusional beliefs. The rest of humanity does not have that luxury. Everyone and everything Trump touches is damaged.
WE are not deluded about Trump. Somerby is deluded about Biden and Trump. Somerby ignores the evidence of Trump's dementia, ignores the way Trump is used by Putin and others, ignores the greed that motivates Trump's every action. Yes, Trump has delusions but there is so much wrong, so much that is dangerous about Trump beyond that.
Cont.
DeleteSomerby himself believes too many wrong things about the modern world. For example, he thinks diversity among people is bad. He thinks racism and sexism do not exist. He thinks The Others (and Fox News) know important things and should be listened to, not brought into reality. Somerby's biggest delusion is that he can read the books assigned in his Harvard classes and understand them without making any effort. (It is probably too late for that.) Somerby seems to believe in white supremacy, which is contradicted everywhere you look in the world. Somerby tells us he believed that Trump could be defeated by criticizing Harris, while claiming he would vote for her. That strikes me as an important delusion arising from his consumption of right wing propaganda. Propaganda, by definition, consists of lies told to promote Trump and the right wing. Believing lies leads to that gap between reality and one's beliefs, which is the essence of delusion.
Trump is undermining science, our main tool for knowing reality. By dismantling science and shutting down the places where knowledge is shared (schools, libraries, archives, museums) Trump is forcing his delusions on other people. Somerby should be complaining about that, but I haven't heard a peep from him about it. Then we get this shit about humanity being the source of delusions, bred in the bone or whatever, and not evil men like Trump and Somerby himself the source of lies and delusion foisted on unwilling masses who will suffer because of these evil men's actions. Trump and Hitler both did bad things on purpose. Somerby should discuss the presence of evil in the world, not proclaim that all people are delusional because that is our nature. I will not accept that blame myself because, as a researcher and professor, my life has been devoted to holding back ignorance and making people's lives better. Somerby cannot say the same.
Well said.
DeleteProfessor, is your life dedicated to a search for verifiable truth? Then verify your claim that "Somerby thinks diversity among people is bad." Or your claim that Somerby thinks "racism and sexism do not exist." Or that he "seems to believe in white supremacy."
DeleteHe has said that too much diversity interferes with democracy, which requies a homogeneous populus. No, I won’t look up any quotes for you. Google Curtis Yarvin and find out why Nazis are all fascinated by ancient Troy. We’ve been through this dance before. No quotes satisfy you but longtime readers here know what I’m talking about.
DeleteDogface, I am a longtime reader and don't know what the f she is talking about.
Delete8:13 - So, now you insinuate that Somerby is a Nazi because he quotes Homer?
Delete8:47 - Can you believe some college actually hired this person to be a professor?
Somerby is a Nazi because he hates diversity, finds black and brown people inferior, and thinks women should be subjugated to men, the younger the girls the better. He says democracy is a failed experiment. As I said, go read Curtis Yarvin & Richard Spencer. You will hear their echoes in Somerby’s musings, which he pretends are only about the media.
DeleteTenured full professor. You have the right to your delusions but guys like you are why we have Trump.
Cecelia claims to be a longtime Somerby reader too.
Delete"guys like you are why we have Trump"
DeleteNow there's some logic. I say you can't support your crank views like "Somerby is a Nazi," and your response is to say that that somehow proves I'm responsible for Trump. Please let me know the name of your college so I can make sure my kids don't go there.
12:41 - Are you still on board with Professor "Somerby is a Nazi"? Or are you a crank, too?
DeleteUnhinged conspiracy theorist.
ReplyDeleteCompare handsome old Joe's speech Friday with our ignoramus nasty ass closed minded buffoon running the joint. Frump's deranged cult's unyielding support is scary.
ReplyDeletePresident Biden was executed in 2020. He was then replaced by a clone!
ReplyDeleteWell, that explains the transgender mice experiments! They were trying to figure out how to make a clone!
I still love how Dems all suddenly cared about Trump’s age the moment Biden dropped out.
ReplyDeleteTrump has an age?
DeleteDo tell.
Dems don’t cate about Trump’s age but his batshit craziness, his ignorance and his increasing dementia. He has never been fit to be president.
DeleteAs a Dem I care about who he makes change his shit filled diapers. It should be Melania, but she won't go near that old weirdo who looks like a corpse without 15 pounds of makeup and greasy kids hair gel.
