A sanctified solon delivers: It’s dumb to pretend that humans are saints. To cite one example, the sanctification of Saint Joe Paterno has turned out very poorly.
The sanctification of Saint John McCain went rather poorly too. For many years, the press corps took a ridiculous stance with respect to their sanctified solon.
Inevitably, ambitious people take advantage of such manifest nonsense. For many years, the press corps’ behavior was dishonest and dumb—and McCain sometimes took advantage.
Today, though, Saint McCain is back, earning his wings on the actual merits. Responding to the slanders of Huma Abedin, McCain stood on the floor of the Senate and told the nut cases in his own party that it was time to shut up.
For the Post’s news report, with the text of his speech, just click here.
By this point, both teams need to stand and tell their nuts to shut up. What MSNBC did in response to the killing of Trayvon Martin constitutes one of the most disgraceful episodes we’ve ever seen from a news org.
It was considered OK in the liberal world, which disgraced itself through its total silence. It was considered OK by the nation’s “media reporters.”
It wasn’t OK. Not even close.
Many people should tell Michele Bachmann that, at long last, it’s time to shut up. Today, a sanctified solon spoke, setting a winning example.
Who the Sam Hill was Joseph Welch: To refresh yourself, just click here.
Everyone knows Joseph Welch played the judge in "Anatomy of a Murder." And which liberal congressman was in there bashing George Zimmerman? Only friend of the Howler Bill Maher is still bashing him (but laughed off his own earlier misinformation spreading on the subject.)
ReplyDeleteUh huh. What is happening to Huma Abedin is exactly what happened to poor George Zimmerman. And let's throw Joe Paterno in for good measure, and of course, without any possible reason.
ReplyDeleteAs for me, I'll still put the entire press corps behavior leading up to the invasion of Iraq somewhere on the "disgraceful" scale above the Trayvon Martin case.
"Uh huh..."
DeleteReading comprehension failure in 3... 2... 1...
"What is happening to Huma Abedin..."
Reading comprehension failure: Now!
"is exactly what happened to..."
Houston, we have failure.
Bring it up with your hero, Bob. He's the one that brought up both Trayvon Martin and Joe Paterno in a post about Huma Abedin.
DeleteSurely, Bob wouldn't be sloppy in his analogies. Would he?
By the way, for all his other flaws, McCain does have a streak of decency in him that he can't always suppress.
ReplyDeleteLike the time he gently upbraided the poor woman at his own town hall meeting in 2008 who called Obama a Muslim.
Too bad the woman was buying what McCain's running mate was selling.
Please provide a link for Sarah Palin saying Obama was a Muslim and wasn't born in the U.S. Thanks.
DeleteGladly. From her famous Oct. 4, 2008 speech at the Denver airport hangar:
Delete“This is not a man who sees America as you see it and how I see America. We see America as the greatest force for good in this world. If we can be that beacon of light and hope for others who seek freedom and democracy and can live in a country that would allow intolerance in the equal rights that again our military men and women fight for and die for for all of us. Our opponent though, is someone who sees America it seems as being so imperfect that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country?”
I see you also have trouble with English.
Delete"This is not a man who sees America as you see it and how I see America."
" . . . he’s palling around with terrorists"
So she never said it, I guess. Those words don't mean what you want them to mean. I'm pretty sure torturing language like that is prohibited by the Geneva Convention.
DeleteBraintree from a public computer:
DeleteAs much as I love bashing Sarah Palin I must come to her defense. The terrorist she was referring to was former Weather Underground member Bill Ayers who decidedly isn't a Muslim. Having been in his apartment once for a fund raister and serving on the same board on education sponsored by the historically right-wing Chicago Tribune is hardly my idea of "palling around" with someone so it's still a smear, just not quite as extreme as some have claimed.
""This is not a man who sees America as you see it and how I see America.""
DeleteThis is obviously a reference to Hindus, not Muslims. Talk about "trouble with English', sheez...
Anom loving Bob plays semantic games: Palin has never distanced herself from the birther crowd and generally speaks for them.
ReplyDeleteGoogle Palin birther - first up is "more power to Trump"
ReplyDeleteWhat doesn't "come up" is her saying that Obama wasn't born in the US or is a Muslim, although There was a quote from her saying that she doesn't question his birth certificate , though.
DeleteActually, the quote on her Facebook page says she has never asked him to produce his birth certificate nor suggested he was not born in the United States. That's from a link via HuffPo, high up in the Google search. The page title is "Stupid Conspiracies".
DeleteJonathan Capehart quoted her on 2/17/12 as I said in the WP.
DeleteSo, "More Power To Birthers" even though I'm not a birther. And you have a problem with Rachell Maddow?
ReplyDeleteEither she said something or she didn't. That's my point. Facts matter.
