An extremely rare look at moral experience!

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2022

Bomb cyclones coincide: With one bomb cyclone rapidly approaching, we've laid in a stockpile of hot chocolate and have otherwise battened appropriate hatches.

That said, a second bomb cyclone has hit with the release of extensive materials from the January 6 committee. At present, we're focusing on Cassidy Hutchinson's account of her search for a lawyer to help her with her testimony.

Also, on her (eventual) decision to tell the full truth to the committee.

You can read her sworn account in this transcript of her extremely lengthy testimony regarding that matter. In our view, the transcript offers a very rare look at human moral experience.

Also, major holidays are approaching. We're thereby suspending the case study we've been presenting this week. That case study will resume, though most likely not until the start of next week.

  2. Is that the lady who saw ketchup and heard someone saying something?

...so, she also had "human moral experience"? Whoa, how remarkable...

  3. The moral dilemma was created by her attorney who gave her advice that ran counter to his own professional ethics. Perhaps that confused her. Otherwise, her duty was clear. There shouldn't have been any ethical quandary involved at all -- just a personal cost for doing the right thing. For most people not working in Trump's fever swamp, these are not decisions requiring moral thrashing because the right course of action is obvious. It is dismaying that it took any soul-searching to see it, but many Trump associates would never have made the moral/ethical choice because they are not ethical people and they put their own self-interest ahead of all else. But doing the right thing, the obvious thing (if you are not misled by Trump-type people) shouldn't deserve special praise, in my opinion.

    1. When it comes to Trump, just about half the Country has refused to do the right thing. I’ll give Bob a wait and see on this one. We should note, Bob’s dumb bunny contention that Trump might be justified because he believed what he was saying seems to have been mercifully retired.

  4. Let’s remember the folks in Baltimore and elsewhere who have no hot chocolate and no hatches to batten down.
