Lightly stoned, Bill defers: We're glad to see DePaolo and Gilmour covering the things that get said on Morning Joe.
In the segment reported here, Joe Scarborough asks the relevant question—the question the other kids aren't sharp enough to conjure:
Scarborough Warns Trump is Tearing Down Institutions ‘Brick By Brick’: ‘Are We Going to Survive?’
Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough warned that the Trump administration is tearing down federal institutions “brick by brick” as he questioned aloud whether Americans will “be able to rebuild” in two years.
[...]
“Years ago, Steve Bannon said he was a Leninist, and he and Trump were going to go in and they were going to tear down the state, take it to the ground,” he began. “You look at what Gillian [Tett] said they’re doing with the census, one of the most basic, should be noncontroversial things ever, they’re trying to rig that, it seems.”
He continued: “What they’re doing with the post office, using the post office to do unconstitutional things with the midterm elections, taking it from the states’ power and giving it to the executive branch, which is not in the Constitution. It’s unconstitutional. You see what’s happened at the DOD, you see what’s happened at the Justice Department, you see what’s happened at the National Institutes of Health, all of these institutions that have been built up to protect Americans and to extend American power and safety across the globe, are being torn down brick-by-brick, piece-by-piece, by this Trump administration.
“And the question people have is, are we going to survive? Are we going to be able to rebuild this two years from now?”
Will we be able to survive? The other children are too slow to come up with that formulation as they offer the standard complaints about the sitting president and about the people around him.
Let us add this observation, an observation we've made before:
Election Day this year is Tuesday, November 3. No one knows what's going to happen starting on Wednesday, November 4.
On that day, the sitting president will have two years and more than two months left on his current term. Over here in Blue America, no one knows what he may be planning to do during that long, slow drive toward the cliff.
Might this be the week when we Blues start to see the many ways we've failed? The many ways we self-impressed Blues have helped this crisis develop?
In search of that type of self-awareness, we expect to turn tomorrow to this cluelessness on the part of Maher and Galloway, and then we'll move on from there.
We've always (more than) admired what Bill Maher has achieved. Unless you've been inside the business, it's hard to understand the amount of skill and insight involved in what he has done.
That said, good God! As he defers to Galloway, will someone please riddle us this:
How in the world is it possible? How do we Blues manage to persist in arrogance and dumbness so vast?
ReplyDelete"And the question people have is, are we going to survive?"
Poor Joe Scarborough.
Here's an idea: he should squeal more. And louder. His Dumbocrat audience loves it.
Anyone who isn't a bigot, or isn't perfectly fine with bigotry, left the Republican Party over a quarter of a century ago.
DeleteIf you aren't making Right-wingers cry because you tell them black people should have equal rights, you're missing out on one of life's funnier moments.
DeleteTrump spells it 'Dumocrat', trumptard. Shouldn't you slavishly follow your fearless Leader?
DeleteTime moves on. Now it is Dumocrap".
DeleteSomerby gobbles down on angry diminutive right winger Bill Maher's little penis today.
ReplyDeleteTip to readers: read Somerby BEFORE eating, you are less likely to vomit.
Somerby also suggests Trump is so mighty and all powerful that we are helpless in his wake.
Tell that to Texas 9th Senate District, heavily Latino and solid red for decades, Trump won the district by 17 points, but this year the district flipped blue with a Dem winning by 14%, that's a 31 point shift. Trump has highly motivated voters to come out and vote against him.
Talarico is up in the polls as well.
Looks like Texas is turning purple.
And that makes grifters like Maher and Rogan turn red with anger.
Maher has a healthy penis, that’s not the problem.
DeleteWhen guys like Maher start having penis decline (in middle age), they generally blame whatever woman is nearby for not being hot enough. Then they go on a quest to find the younger woman who can help him get it up again -- except it isn't the woman that is the problem, it is a natural process of aging that stupid men don't think will ever happen to them. That's the whole testosterone supplement and ball tanning story too. Meanwhile, women know what the situation is but we are too nice to laugh at the desperation of these aging men. Age comes for all of us, as the harbinger of death. That is the circle of life.
DeleteI don’t know who Galloway is, but how could Somerby expect Maher to be other than clueless?
ReplyDeleteI live in a state entirely run by Democrats. I have no protection against election fraud, if the Dems choose to cheat. They refuse to share their list of registered voters. Chances are there are may be illegal immigrants and other non-citizens who are registered.
ReplyDeleteI do not know how absentee ballots are handled. The results sometimes look suspicious. Of course, that doesn't prove anything. The trouble is, I do not have any alternate way to prove that everything is kosher. I can do nothing to protect myself.
Trump's post office ploy probably is unconstitutional. I expect the Courts to overrule. But, I am sympathetic to his attempt to bring any sort of independent review to CA's one-sided elections.
Make Aliyah, David, before it’s too late.
DeleteStart with proof. Stop with suspicions, oh belligerent ones. Look up belligerent, too.
DeleteYou're right, @5:02. I need proof. But, how can I get proof? California elections and voter registrations are totally in the hands of Democrats. The Federal Government is Constitutionally barred from any involvement in CA elections. CA could permit federal audits, but they are refusing any audits.
DeleteFuck you, David. Republicans observe every fucking count, you lying imbecile
Delete"I do not know how absentee ballots are handled."
DeleteRight. There's a lot about elections you don't know.
The main thing to focus on is to not let election data or election power, fall into Trump's hands since he's the most dishonest politician any of us have ever seen (by a long shot).
Trump's post office ploy probably is unconstitutional. But I love it. Federalism for me but not for thee.
DeleteI am David, resident troll dumb fu k fascist freak.
"Might this be the week when we Blues start to see the many ways we've failed? The many ways we self-impressed Blues have helped this crisis develop?"
ReplyDeleteWe Blues are not the perpetrators of any failure. We are the victims of the crimes committed by Trump and his cronies. We Blues are not "self-impressed" simply because we are not as bad as the Reds, who aren't even trying any more.
This is not a "crisis" but business as usual for the right wing. We blues and not the majority, so we do not have the political clout to control or limit or remedy what is being done by the right wing in our country.
Somerby's assholery cannot turn down into up simply by chastising the only people in our nation who are trying to make this a better country.
"We Blues are not the perpetrators of any failure."
DeleteHe doesn't say you've perpetrated it. He says you've helped it along.
Are you confusing the word perpetrate with perpetuate? Sounds like it.
Delete"That said, good God! As he defers to Galloway, will someone please riddle us this:
ReplyDeleteHow in the world is it possible? How do we Blues manage to persist in arrogance and dumbness so vast?"
First, Bill Maher is not Blue and neither is Somerby. Maher is certainly arrogant. Both Maher and Somerby are completely narcissistic, to the point that their narcissism rivals that of Trump himself, both are sexist and racist. Maher sounds one-note with his Islamophobia. You have to be that kind of asshole to succeed in stand-up comedy (unless you are someone like Steve Martin, Stephen Colbert, Conan O'Brien, or Canadian import, the world's nice man, Martin Short). But those guys are all genuine Blues, unlike Somerby.
"What are we all going to do?" Somerby pleads! "I know, we'll blame the Blues." And that's exactly what he is doing today. Does it solve anything? No, but if Somerby wanted to solve anything he wouldn't be advancing right wing talking points every day.
ReplyDeleteDoes Somerby know that his Mediaite link is behind a paywall? I am not going to spend any money to hear Bill Maher say stupid things.
