SATURDAY: We show you again what the poor fellow said!

SATURDAY, AUGUST 30, 2025

We advise you to pity the child: This morning, we want to show you, once again, what the "poor fellow" said.

Before we do, we'll offer five words:

Temecula Valley Unified School District

You'll hear about it soon enough. For today, we'll only say this—this story helps explain why the messengers on the Fox News Channel can never be totally wrong.

(For the Snopes fact-check on the matter at hand, you can just click here.)

Also this:

With Labor Day approaching, last night was an evening of substitute hosts on the Fox News Channel. This helped produce an evening of astonishing claims, many of which (though not all) had been captured at Mediaite by the time we arose this morning.

We'll try to list the astonishments on Monday, before we start the new narrative year on Tuesday, September 2. For now, we'll only say this:

The Achaeans are coming over the walls again. Sacred Troy met its death in the original iteration.

With that, we move to today's main point.

We want to show you, once again, what the "poor fellow" said. We refer to the furious Greg Gutfeld, spilling with rage about who the monsters turn out to be and about what the monsters do.

We think it's important to see what he said. On Thursday, viewers of The Five had learned these things about the monsters, but also about who the A-holes and assholes are, by 5:04 p.m.—2:04 out on the coast.

For additional context, see yesterday's report. Accepting a throw from the inexcusable Dana Perino, the furious fellow spilled with this:

GUTFELD (8/28/25): This is why none of these A-holes can lecture anyone on compassion.

The most compassionate people on the planet are trying to stop the trans delusion. The least compassionate are the people in the media, academia and politicians who enable this hysteria of horror.

What is so glaring about the trans cult—apparently, your identity is the only thing that matters until you do something awful. Then it's the least important variable. Then you look at everything else. You talk about guns. But suddenly, it is like all of a sudden we can't talk about that—what was it? The other trans shooter that hid her identity.

In this manifesto that this creep wrote, he said he was tired of being trans, and that he wished he had never brainwashed himself. What more do you need, straight from the monster's mouth?

Politicians, activists and teachers—you built this! You could have listened to the warnings. We were talking about this on this show for years. You amplify the hysterical—a hysterical, literally hysterical phenomenon that was going no place good.

You created a poisonous program that twisted young minds for destruction, a nihilistic place to be when you deny biology and they have nowhere to go. So all of these media arguments, what you are seeing there among those people, it is to escape their own culpability and the reality they created.

So forget the layer of mental illness and gun control. The origin of the evil, the evil lies in the creation of a mindset that indulged a delusional self, ruining connections with fellow human beings

So that trans, by ascribing extreme aggrieved mentality, then gets directed against society. So this person feels justified in killing children. His killing resulted from that ideology. And if you don't believe that, you're one dumb asshole.

Excuse me.

We regard that as ugly, stupid, murderous, strange. Did we mention the fact that the Achaeans, once again, are coming over the walls?

With respect to Gutfeld himself, we advise you to pity the child.

His Serra High sits one mile down the Alameda—down the Alameda de las Pulgas—from "our dear Aragon, stately and serene." (We're quoting what the school song said on the day the school opened.)

On the one hand, it's sad to think that such a poisonous mentality could have emerged from such a sunny land. On the other hand, we've read snippets and clips in which Gutfeld describes certain aspects of his experience, both as a high school student and then in later life.

On that basis, we advise you to pity the child. We also advise you to wonder why Blue America's major elites are prepared to avert their gaze from the poisonous behavior of the adult—of his corporate channel's $9 million man.

With apologies, we think you should read, and contemplate, what the furious fellow said. We regard it as ugly and poisonous and horribly stupid, but massive death and destruction occurred the first time these angry Achaeans breeched those towering walls.

One last point:

On yesterday's edition of The Five, this angry fellow put the pathetic practice on display again.

We refer to the practice known as Tarlov Interruptus. You see, Master Gutfeld does a very poor job regulating his anger and his vast sense of grievance.

The nation's most-watched "cable news" program starts as four against one. Before long, one or several of the furious four start interrupting and overtalking as they shut down the one.

That's what "fair and balanced" has come to mean on this corporate messaging channel. Yesterday, the interruption of demon Tarlov started at 5:08 p.m.—2:08 out on the coast.

You can see the fellow doing that here. The four get to speak in polite, perfect silence. By the antique rules of the prehuman game, the one has to be shut down.

Also this: What's the correct definition of love? As the culture is being torn down, David Brooks thinks he may have the answer!

(As we noted yesterday, we've long admired his work.)

  1. "The Achaeans are coming over the walls again. Sacred Troy met its death in the original iteration."

This was what happened in The Iliad by Homer, which was FICTION. We do not know that a place called Troy was vanquished by Achaeans at all. We know there was an ancient city at a site in Turkey that was excavated, but we know nothing about what happend to it, much less what it was called. And ALL of the dialog and events of The Iliad are FICTIONAL, which means MADE UP.

When you start talking about fictional things as if they actually happened, as Somerby does today, that is a short-cut to insanity. We humans distinguish between what is real what is not, using our frontal lobes. It is called "reality monitoring." People use that faculty to differentiate between things they have thought or imagined and what really happened, things they have made up themselves (lies, fantasy) and what is real.

When people lose this ability, they can slide into dementia or mental illness. So, pretending Troy was real, as Somerby does nearly every day, is not a good idea for someone in his late 70s, as Somerby is. And it is not cute or funny or clever or sly for him to keep suggesting that Troy is the Democrats and the Achaeans are Republicans (or worse, MAGAs). That never made sense when he first started talking about it, and it doesn't now. The assignment is arbitrary, especially since it is now Trump who is under siege and the Democrats who are on his heels in the upcoming midterms and via the courts.

Democrats have been victors in the near past and will be again. Linking us to the losers is not a very subtle way to please Somerby's handlers, who insist that he do something every day to push Trump's agenda.

It's really a little overwrought to pretend otherwise.

    3. Here is what Somerby says:

"The Achaeans are coming over the walls again. Sacred Troy met its death in the original iteration."

Where do you see any indication that he knows this is fiction? Please quote the relevant part.

    4. In order for something to happen again, it has to have happened before. Note the present tense in the first sentence, so he says this wall climbing is happening now. In the past, he says Troy met its death before. Nothing there about literature. For that matter, why is Troy sacred and not the Achaeans?

If God was on the side of Troy, why did Troy fall? The same question as why a bunch of praying children were shot despite their prayers. Why would Troy be sacred to anyone?

So you think each time he refers to the events in the Iliad he has to make some kind of disclaimer that they didn't really happen? So that someone like you doesn't spout nonsense after reading him?

Certain things go without saying. Or they used to, until we entered the post-literate world.

      Delete
    11. I think that when he talks about Troy as if it were real, as he did today, he is pushing an agenda that he wishes to advance. He wants to tell us Blues that we are losers because Troy fell, etc. WE BLUES ARE NOT TROY BECAUSE TROY NEVER EXISTED AND THE EVENTS OF THE ILIAD ARE MADE UP -- FICTION.

This doesn't go without saying when Somerby says it because he never offers the slightest bit of evidence to support his analogies. We Blues won with Biden, who was an excellent president. Trump is a tragedy. There is no reason to predict that Dems will not beat him in the midterms and in 2028 given what a total disaster Trump is. So, Somerby's references to Troy are taunts and name-calling, smears without substance. And that is why he needs to lay off or come up with some support for these statements he makes, like the one today where he says that Troy fell and we are Troy. That's a fucking lie.

But the sneaky disguised nature of Somerby's taunt is the worst part. He doesn't even take responsibility for calling Blues out and telling us we are going to fall, as Troy did, despite the evidence that Trump is going down big (look at the special election results this year and Trumps dismal favorability, and the way he is destroying the economy).

Somerby won't come out and discuss politics like a mensch. He sneaks it in and thinks we won't notice. And you apparently don't. And you call me "post-literate"!

    12. I called you 'post-literate' out of pure kindness.

You actually seem like a real dope who projects their dopiness onto the rest of us. That's why you use all caps to state that the events of the Iliad didn't happen because you think the rest of us are in doubt about this question.

That's why you call Somerby's use of a metaphor a lie, rather than what an intelligent person would do, which is to show why it is not an apt comparison. 'Lie' is best applied to matters of fact, not metaphors.

That's why you say, 'He sneaks it in and thinks we won't notice'. He referenced the Iliad in a two-sentence paragraph. Why would we not notice? In what way was it snuck in? You literally don't make sense.

      Delete
    13. I've done that. Maybe you weren't here. It was snuck in in the sense that no evidence was provided to support the aptness of Troy as Blue, when Troy could as easily be Red. I said that above.

  2. Thought this might be helpful to Somerby's discussion this morning. It is an AI summary:

"While ancient Greece did not have the modern concept of "transgender," historical and mythological evidence suggests the presence of gender-variant individuals and practices that align with modern understandings of trans identities, such as the Galli priests of the goddess Cybele, Tiresias, and mythical transformations in Ovid's Metamorphoses .
    Galli Priests of Cybele
    Who they were:
The Galli were priests of the goddess Cybele (and her companion Attis), worshiped in ancient Greece and the Roman Empire from around 200 BCE to 300 CE.
    Gender Expression:
They wore feminine attire, identified as women, and often castrated themselves.
    Modern interpretation:
Scholars consider them to be among the best-documented examples of transgender and nonbinary figures in the ancient Mediterranean, occupying an "ambiguous space in Roman notions of gender" that resonates with modern transgender and nonbinary identities. "

    3. Biology is a science that describes reality. Right wingers don't want to live in reality so they try to dictate what they want to be real and insist that others follow their dictates.

George Conway says: “What's happening here is we're going back to the dark ages because they can't cope with reality, they don't want to cope with reality,” he elaborated. “They want to create their own reality, and the problem is, as we saw with those people talking, yelling, booing [GOP lawmakers] at town halls, people aren't buying it.”

What I don't understand is why right wingers think they should get to dictate to other people how they must live and exist in the world, what they must think and feel. What ever happened to freedom? Why is it not part of how a person dresses or names themselves or their interests or who they love? Perhaps people will find the spine to fight Trumpism when their own freedoms are infringed: (1) their right to eat what they want for dinner, (2) the right to wear purple clothing as opposed to pink or green, (3) the right to watch whatever movies and read whatever books they want, (4) the right to have parties on week nights and only work 20 hrs per week if you can pay your bills on that amount, without being called lazy by JD Vance, (5) the right to own a cat instead of a dog, (6) the ability to visit a national park or the beach or stay home and watch TV, as you please.

Trans people are not being allowed to do things that CISgender people take for granted, such as define their own identity. I can choose to take up swimming but a transperson cannot. I can use a bathroom at the mall, but a transperson may be attacked for having to pee (in a stall with the door closed).

Why is our society becoming so invasive?

I don't define my 'gender identity' because I don't have one. I have knowledge that I was born into a certain sex and I accept that's what I am.

      Delete
    6. Do an experiment and try on the clothing of the other gender. If you feel uncomfortable in them, you are most likely CISgender. Most trans people know from a very early age (toddlerhood) that they are not the gender their parents want them to be. They know they are different than other children their same sex. Other children can tell they are different too and start to tease and bully them, or they shun them. Also 20% of autistic kids are gender-deviant (trans or androgynous). This is not subtle.

      Delete
    7. "Most trans people know from a very early age (toddlerhood)"

Absolutely. Always take the word of a toddler about things.

      Delete
    8. Can you make a right handed toddler left-handed? Can you make a toddler like a food they spit out? Can you get a toddler to stop being upset when their security object is left behind? Can you make a toddler stop feeling cold or tired just because you are tired of their crying? Someone who thinks toddlers are not people with preferences and individual quirks and wants and needs has never been a parent (or is unfit to be one).

If you are smart, you encourage a toddler toward development, keep them safe, and guide them into adulthood. There are firm limits to what you can do to shape a toddler (or a child of any age). A child who is fearful of new things as a toddler will be that way as an adult too (but the feared things will change). Outgoing toddlers stay outgoing (unless traumatized to the point of abuse). The fun of being a parent is watching the individual emerge. You don't make your kids into things. They make themselves by how they react to the world.

  3. "So that trans, by ascribing extreme aggrieved mentality, then gets directed against society. So this person feels justified in killing children. His killing resulted from that ideology. "

Investigators are still saying that they do not know the motivation of the killer. It is a stretch to say that the shooter was targeting children as opposed to thinking of the church as a symbol of the religion that persecuted her in childhood. It may also be that killing children is a symbolic way of killing herself, perhaps her younger self, her male self. Evidence of self-hate. We don't know and neither does Gutfeld. There are several clear statements of hate in evidence, including hate speech directed against Jews, Catholic religion, and Donald Trump.

Gutfeld wants to blame liberals for what happened, but I think he should be more concerned about the network of individuals on the web who have made idols of mass shooters and who follow their lives and activities very closely, emulating them in some cases. That seems like a more proximal cause than someone encouraging of transgenderism.

Gutfeld is demagoguing the issue of transgenderism. Somerby is demagoguing Gutfeld, not thinking seriously about the tragedy in Minneapolis, or even why a bullied child in a religious school might have problems growing up transgender.

Meanwhile Gutfeld says the shooter felt justified shooting children. Aside from the question of how Gutfeld knows what she was thinking, why does Somerby let that statement stand? It is blatantly untrue. She shot herself. If she felt justified, she would have surrendered and offered a defense of her actions.

I dislike Somerby's callous, just another day in Troy approach to this event. And no, Trump is not the child who deserves pity, nor is Gutfeld.

These were extreme acts committed in desperation. This girl's community failed her and her parents could not save her. One of the reasons for supporting transgender children is to prevent suicides and mental illness (depression, anxiety) that occur as the result of inflexibility and bullying. We do not know the details in this case, but it wasn't liberals who drove this girl to suicide. That isn't what happens in real life, despite Gutfeld and Somerby's fantasies. She needed more help and no one provided it, so innocent children died. There is a lesson to be learned, but it isn't one that Somerby is aware of, based on his words today.

Meanwhile, it is nice to know that Somerby admires the work of David Brooks, even if he never says why.

    3. "Ascribing extreme aggrieved mentality" is the reason why white people don't want racial matters taught in schools. The black kids might get super angry and become militant. This is what happens when a white guilty conscience gets translated into fear and hatred of those whom they've wronged.

As described in the early history of slavery White over Black, by Robert Jordan, the fear of slave riots and rebellions motivated extreme measures to prevent uprisings, including severe discipline, laws forbidding communication between slave communities, slave literacy, breaking up of families, and so on. Extreme cruelty in punishment arose from fear of retribution by oppressed people. Ironically, the severe mistreatment makes it more likely those abused will strike out, even when it is suicidal.

"Yes, enslaved people sometimes attacked and even killed their white overseers as a form of extreme resistance against the violence and brutality of slavery. This violence was a desperate act, an ultimate rebellion against the system that subjected them to brutal discipline and exploitation, a challenge to the overseers' authority and the planter class's power. "

As the recipients of mistreatment after slavery, black people treated as second-class citizens didn't need to be taught to feel aggrieved but needed to be reminded of their own positive accomplishments in society. Somerby himself has expressed the idea that black students are being taught to feel aggrieved instead of to be happy they are free in a no longer racist society.

Applied to transpeople, the idea that they are being taught to be aggrieved at being called male or female, instead of being another gender, seems ridiculous given the extreme gender stereotyping that occurs from birth among all children. If you visit infant clothing and toy departments, they are divided into pink and blue, clothes for girls and those for boys. Parents are forced into that dichotomy in dressing their kids and buying toys. When a child grows older wishing to be a girl instead of a boy, despite this strong indoctrination by society, it seems to me there is something strong from within the child that is resisting the social programming. The belief that parents or schools are programming kids against their desires into becoming trans, endowing them with aggrieved feelings seems ridiculous in the light of actual experiences by parents of trans kids (and gay kids and autistic kids and musically gifted kids and other kids with noticeable gifts at a very young age).

Blaming the left because we advocate being tolerant of the tendencies shown by children on their own, is a political abuse of children. These kids need to be valued and helped as they are, not prayed back into normalcy or whatever right wingers advocate. Certainly bullying doesn't change kids who are different back into normal kids. Does anyone think that beating a child with a reading disability will make them better readers? It just doesn't work that way. Liberals acknowledge that while the right does not, and additionally scapegoats the left for its tolerance of diversity.

We should be united in our desire to help kids become healthy, happy adults in whatever form that takes. There is nothing criminal about being trans, it hurts no one (including the child) but it is wrong to so abuse a child that they become a mass shooter. And how could the parents not have noticed what was happening in their child's life?

Shame on Somerby for trying to make this into some kind of political issue here. Doesn't he have something else to talk about? Doesn't Trump need more pity for becoming a billionaire who gets whatever he wants?

A person can be healthy and happy by living in a manner congruent with their own physiology and psychology, without being told what they must be by others. Doctors and psychologists can assist in this process which is made more difficult by their having a very rare condition that is different than most other people. Insisting that a person deny their own sense of themselves in order to conform to the ideas of other people is not a good idea.

  4. The Temecula district school board seems to be conservative, caught in the spotlight by Riley Gaines demagoguing trans issues. They just lost a lawsuit prohibiting them from removing CRT (teaching of racial theory) from their curriculum.

The new anti-trans policy has not yet been enacted as of 8/26 and it may yet postpone its decision to allow anti-trans students to seek mental health exemptions from participating in PE classes with trans students. The school already has a religious exemption available to students who do not want to use shared lockerrooms.

I have no seen any estimate of how many actual trans students are enrolled in the district or any given school. It may be as few as 0, given that this is motivated by right wing parents seeking to stigmatize trans students.

We have discussed this here before at Somerby's blog. Once again, he coyly hints at the topic and expresses no actual opinion. He may or may not return to the subject later in the week. Teases things without actually talking about them is Somerby's way of attracting attention without having to take a stand.

It is sad that Temecula schools are dominated by right wing extremist parents. It is a nice suburban CA community near vinyards and hills, with a hot-air balloon festival. Why this should become a hotbed of hate directed at children is anybody's guess, but it seems to have been caught in this time-wasting garbage lately.

Adults should be nice to all kids, including those who have special needs. The pressure to remove racial history from schools is despicable, affecting far more kids than trans issues do. I'm glad the judge did the right thing there.

  6. In Randy Rainbow's autobiography, his father is described as being just like Trump:

"As Rainbow writes about his Bronx-born dad, who died in 2017: “His mannerisms, down to the cadence of his speaking voice and even some of his facial expressions, made him almost an exact replica of you-know-who. He was a hair-obsessed, lying, cheating, emotionally stunted, and completely self-absorbed textbook narcissist.” [Los Angeles Times]

He didn't make his son gay or aggrieved. Trump did that.

  7. Speaking of restrictions on freedom:

"The conservative thinktank Claremont Institute isn’t satisfied with Trump’s mass firings and ideological purges of federal workers – it wants to go even further. In a newly promoted commentary, Claremont’s allies call for mandatory “reeducation” programs that would force federal employees to adopt the institute’s extreme vision of “American identity.” Participation could even be tied to promotions, effectively turning Claremont’s authoritarian playbook into workplace policy.

Right Wing Watch digs into the alarming details – revealing how a once-mainstream think tank has become a hub for anti-democratic ideology and white nationalist sympathies, and how its alumni are already entrenched in Trump’s administration. Read more about this dangerous plan to reshape the federal government from the inside out."

August 30, 2025 at 10:39 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

“There’s a new divide on Capitol Hill over education,” the Washington Post reports.

“In a dramatic shift from 50 years ago, Republicans in Congress overwhelmingly attended nonelite universities for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. At the same time, almost half of all Democrats graduated from an Ivy League institution or some other elite university for undergraduate or postgraduate work, a slight increase from the early 1970s.” [Political Wire]

"The chuds will freak out about the trans angle and meanwhile everyone will ignore the fact that this person, the black Nazi kid shooter, and the shooter from the Christchurch school in Madison all have links to the same online group, "The Order of Nine Angles". It's a hate group that's been around since the 60's, with rumored ties to intelligence and operations like Gladio. The term for the modern American branch is apparently "764". This group is essentially an esoteric online Nazi community where young people glorify and encourage the act of being a mass shooter.

Robin Westman's gun was covered in racist messages and Nazi iconography, including the O9A logo. Writing slogans on your weapon is an increasingly common practice with today's mass shooters, because they post these pictures in their online communities before they carry out the act. Here's a link to the Wikipedia article on their crimes, of note is anything past 2020: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_crimes_involving_the_Order_of_Nine_Angles#2020

I don't have all the answers on this group, or its history. But it appears to be a fact that there is a real online community of young people who glorify mass shooters and encourage each other to carry out the act themselves, and they are actually doing it. And rather than talk about that, people are using America's most shameful and preventable atrocities to further attack trans people. Shithole country..."

Glorification of mass shooters also occurs among incels (who are not trans but are around the same age, typically white male with problems forming relationships with women).
