BREAKING: We won't post until this afternoon!

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2024

It's one of those alternate Tuesdays: Sure enough, it's one of those alternate Tuesdays.

For that reason, we won't be posting until this afternoon.

  1. Look how Somerby gets twice the word count by repeating the same sentence twice. Why?

    1. He might repeat things an infinite number of times, like he’s a liberal who voted for Harris, and some here still won’t get it.

    2. Getting & believing are different things.

  2. I wonder if Bob is getting some medical treatment every other Tuesday morning, and if so for what. At Bob’s age, parts of the body are apt to break down

    1. He has said as much, but is coy about his diagnosis, so my money is on prostate problems.

  3. Bob has specifically shared that he has a chronic wound.

    1. OK, he said that once. It suggests diabetes.

    2. Anonymouse 12:36pm, nope, Bob has referred to his medical issue more than several times.

    3. Yes, but he only referred to wound not healing once, when he was MIA after surgery. Wound care isn’t usually every two weeks. Sounds more like chemo. You’re the Somerby whisperer, why don’t you just ask him. These hints are annoying.

    4. Anonymouse 1:08pm, nope, Bob has mentioned the wound more than once. Anonymices don’t read his blog, you skim for ammunition.

    5. Cecelia, this is too trivial to go back and count, just to prove you wrong. But you have no inside info about what Somerby's health issues might be. The people who have problems with wounds that won't heal tend to be diabetic with heart problems of venous insufficiency. They lack circulation in their extremities, which develop sores that won't heal due to that lack of circulation (blood flow). That's why their foot care is so important. At some point they may require amputation (surgery). All of that is consistent with Somerby's hints. Control of blood sugar is very important for all diabetics but especially elderly people.

Somerby has never exhibited any respect for the medical profession, which he thinks charges too much. It is sad that someone with chronic problems arising due to age would have such a low opinion of those who are now trying to help him. He gripes about losing time, when the alternative is suffering and dying (as we all will do eventually). His comments sound adversarial and not as if he realizes that his medical visits are to work with a team on the same side as himself, trying to give him more time with a higher quality of life before death. I take a kindle to my own appts, so that my time waiting is productive and enjoyable. I can picture Somerby seething because he isn't the center of the medical world when he comes in, but that's what narcissists are like.

  4. I've been reading his blog for years. I'd guess mental health problems, starting in 2016.

    1. Anonymouse 1:47pm, sorry about your mental health. I guess this recent election won’t help things much for you.

    2. There used to be a pathetic soul here in comments making very short remarks that were very pitiful, never capitalizing any words. I used to think that was someone schizophrenic, because of the content of the comments. They were here longer than anyone, sometimes being more florid in symptoms and other times semi-lucid but always pathetic and sad.

There was a time when I thought that might have been Somerby himself. A lot of what Somerby writes shares symptoms with people with frontal lobe damage, as occurs in schizophrenia. Somerby hasn[t been productive in any job for a very long time. His stream of consciousness writing, his private meanings and references (almost like a code) make no sense, like schizophrenia word salad. I have suspected that Somerby might be mentally ill for years now, and nothing has changed that opinion. Of course, there is no proof either, but Somerby's concern with Trump's mental health strikes me as personal.

That's one of the more insightful things you've posted here in my 5 years of reading TDH.
