ILLNESS: "He has gone insane," the lady said!

TUESDAY, APRIL 7, 2026

No one can say we weren't warned: Our most disabled president said this, early on Easter Sunday:

Truth Details

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP

So he declared, on Truth Social. But then again, so what?

Yesterday afternoon, on the gong show known as The Five, Jesse Watters said this

WATTERS (4/7/26): I didn't think his [recent] tweets were any more bombastic than they usually are. And bombing power plants is not a war crime.

How about obliterating every power plant, along with every bridge? Because that's what the sitting president has been promising.

As Fox's silliest child engaged in this messaging conduct, the chyron below him said this:

"OPEN THE F***IN' STRAIT"
LEFT MELTS DOWN OVER TRUMP'S TOUGH TALK ON IRAN

Even Fox wouldn't display what the president actually said. To the producers of the nation's most-watched "cable news" program, the president's Easter Sunday message was simply the latest example of "owning the libs," in this case through a bit of "tough talk."

Watters didn't see anything new, or anything strange, in a profane Easter Sunday rant which openly mocked the religion of Islam. Let's be sure to make this a holy, civilizational war! So the president urged.

There's really nothing to say today. We just have to tremble and wait as the stated 8 p.m. deadline approaches.

That said, one person had a different reaction to that "Open the Fuckin’ Strait" post.  That person was Marjorie Taylor Greene, the former Republican congresswoman.

Last evening, on The Last Word, Lawrence O'Donnell built his opening monologue around Greene's reaction to the Easter morning post. To read the lady's lengthy post, you can just click here

As we said, Greene's post is lengthy. Headline included, this is the start of Mediaite's report:

‘He Has Gone Insane!’ MTG Absolutely Bludgeons Trump in Fiery Reaction to President’s ‘Evil’ Threat Against Iran

Former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene called out President Donald Trump’s new threat against Iran in stunning fashion—claiming it shows “he has gone insane.”

Greene’s comments followed Trump’s Truth Social post in which he warned of attacks on Iran’s bridges and power plants if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened by Tuesday.

 [...]

“On Easter morning, this is what President Trump posted,” Greene wrote, in a post on X. “Everyone in his administration that claims to be a Christian needs to fall on their knees and beg forgiveness from God and stop worshipping the President and intervene in Trump’s madness. I know all of you and him and he has gone insane, and all of you are complicit.”

"He has gone insane," she said. Later, she said, "This is evil."

The fact that she said it doesn't mean that it's true. Also, "insane" isn't a clinical medical term, and Greene isn't a medical specialist.

In February, the president's niece, who does have a medical background, offered the latest warning. We're sorry to make you sit through this again:

ERIN BURNETT (2/26/26): You've known him your whole life. Do you actually see a [cognitive] decline?

MARY L. TRUMP: I do, but I think it's important to remember that Donald has never been fit in any capacity. Obviously, what we're dealing with now are age-related cognitive declines. We're dealing with physical issues that the White House tries to cover over.

But this is somebody who for decades now has had serious, undiagnosed and untreated psychiatric disorders, which are only going to worsen, especially given the pressure he's under and given the cognitive and physical declines.

This is "only going to worsen," she said. And this very day, here we are!

We'd been warned about this, again and again, dating to 2017. But over here in Blue America, the living was easy for journalistic elites. No one tried to start the discussion, and no one ever will.

Also, no one was willing to report and discuss the clowning which streams from the Fox News Channel. The silence of Blues was total.

Meanwhile, this:

This morning, as we prepare to post, the president has posted this:

Truth Social

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!

The pomposity is matched by the madness. It will all make sense on The Five

We must sit and wait to see what happens. No one can say we weren't warned!

  2. As Selby was about to say, is there anything more disabling than being dead? We have had several presidents who died in office, not counting the ones who were assassinated. And is being lazy and stupid the same as being crazy or disabled?

It would be sufficient to just call the president incompetent but Somerby feels the need to dress up his malfeasance in psychiatric terms. I don't see what that gains anyone. And the president's niece has a vendetta against her uncle, while Somerby cannot tell the difference between a clinical psychologist and a clinical therapist, which makes him a major asshole. Trump's book is mainly about how Mary Trump's father was mistreated and died of alcoholism, not about Donald J. Trump, who she regards as another victim. That may be why her book appeals so strongly to Somerby, who also considers our president to be a victim of his own psyche, not an evil man who rapes women and countries.

And they are not mutually exclusive, it is common for them to go hand in hand; Somerby easily achieves being both uninformed and an asshole,

I'm pretty sure Trump's warning was meant for Iran, but it is correct that we the people will also suffer the consequences if Trump continues waging this war.

Why does Somerby never mention that Congress and VP Vance could end our national nightmare simply by doing their jobs?

Of course, “madness” isn’t a clinical medical term and Somerby isn’t a medical specialist.

Trump is a lunatic. Sound right? That's what I'm going with. So are the religious fanatics he's surrounded with, and the monstrous state of Israel, purely motivated by some obscure religious texts, with the lunatic Huckabee right in the middle of it all!

      Very scary times.

    3. Exactly.

There are not enough Republicans supporting the 25th Amendment or impeachment solutions, so those are moot.

The lunacy of Trump mainly comes into play over what his punishment should be, if any - there is no such thing as free will.

  8. Can Trump really be insane when he has his priorities straight?

"As tensions escalate with Iran, Donald Trump spent part of Sunday morning traveling to his Virginia golf resort after an unannounced motorcade trip that included a slow drive around Memorial Circle, the site near Arlington where he has proposed building a large arch monument.

According to pool reports from San Francisco Chronicle reporter Alexei Koseff, the motorcade departed just after 9:19 a.m., made what was described as a ceremoniously slow tour around the circle, and then continued on to Trump National Golf Club, arriving around 10:02 a.m. in the rain.

The golf trip had not been publicly listed on his schedule, which showed mostly “executive time” and a private Easter dinner later in the evening.

Trump also skipped any public church appearance on Easter Sunday, despite strong support from MAGA evangelical allies who often frame his presidency as being sent from God. Press access was restricted once he arrived at the golf club, and reporters were unable to see him after entering the property.

The golf outing came as his unauthorized war in Iran continues, creating a striking contrast between Trump’s Easter holiday and those of the troops he has deployed in harm’s way."

  10. Here is our president hard at work:

"Sitting at a picnic table surrounded by ten young children, President Donald Trump aired his grievances with former President Joe Biden and the “fake news” media while participating in a White House Easter event Monday.

Trump briefly spoke at the event – known as the White House Easter Egg Roll – before joining a table of children, all of whom appeared to be coloring and drawing pictures. Trump offered to “sign autographs” for the children, telling them that they could “sell them for $25,000 on Ebay.”

His mention of autographs saw him segue into criticizing Biden, who he’s accused of improperly using an autopen, an allegation that saw him demand a criminal probe into the former president. Trump’s Justice Department has since “quietly” shelved its investigation into Biden’s alleged improper use of an autopen.

"You know, Biden would use the autopen!” Trump told the children. “He was incapable of signing his name, so they'd follow him around with this big machine – you know what it was called? An autopen! And he'd have the autopen sign for him. He'd take the paper, hand it to his guys, they'd sign it with an autopen! Not too good, right?”

Trump then transitioned into attacking the media, asking the group of children their opinion on the press.

“Who likes the fake news? Does anybody like the fake news?” Trump asked.

    “No!” exclaimed one child.

  12. Answering Quaker’s question yesterday
David in CalApril 7, 2026 at 10:53 AM
Why is Iran different from India, Pakistan, North Korea?
    1. We cannot now prevent those 3 countries from getting a nuclear arsenal. We can prevent Iran (maybe).
    2. Iran is particularly dangerous to other countries because of militaristic government, expansionist policies, and utter immorality as regards international law and decent human conduct. They’re like less competent Nazis.

I be am not sure that these reasons make tha attack the best policy, but imo they certainly make this attack a plausible policy.

BTW I discuss plausibility in terms of US interest and my personal interest, not in terms of some abstract, universal morality. I am a lot more concerned about the well-being of me than of some unfortunate Iranian.

    6. Quaker in a BasementApril 7, 2026 at 12:29 PM

So you won't engage question 1. All those countries we didn't attack is so much water under the bridge.

On question 2, you choose not to engage my query about deterrence. Deterrence has worked to prevent use of nuclear weapons by any country anywhere in the world for the last 80 years. Why is it necessary to assume it won't work now? If it's because Iran's leadership won't yield to threats, why does Trump persist in using threats to try to get them to open Hormuz?

      None of this makes sense.

      Delete
    7. Dickheads purpose here is to divert, deflect and distract. Of course he won't fucking engage. He always wants you chasing his phantoms. Fuck him.

      Delete
    8. OK Quaker - I will try again. When you asked how Iran differed from NK, India and Pakistan I guess you were looking for some philosophical difference. Some sort of moral justification. Would you care to clarify what sort of difference you were addressing?

I provided a real world difference. because I believe that's the key difference. One could compare the evilness of the four countries, but IMO that's not the reason only Iran got attacked and the others didn't.

Why not just allow Iran to get nukes and count on deterrence as we do with the other 3 countries?
The main reason is that we have no choice. We can't remove their nuclear weapons, so we use deterrence, hoping it will work. I would prefer that these countries not have nukes, but that ship sailed.

      Delete
    9. It took Pakistan about 15 years to develop nuclear weapons, beginning in the 1970’s. Iran supposedly been developing them or wanting to develop them for 47 years? Why so long? And what was that strike on Iran last year that supposedly obliterated their purported nuclear program? Did they develop a weapon in the months since? And why if the threat has existed for 47 years did Trump campaign on no foreign wars? Why did he do nothing in his first term? Can a threat be imminent that lasts 47 years? Is obliterating iran going to help all those Iranians who were protesting?

Meanwhile, in response to Hamas killing a few hundred Israelis, while the IDF curiously stood down (and then provably killed some of their own citizens when they got off their asses), Israel wiped out Gaza, killing tens of thousands of innocent civilians, at least half of which were children. Defending Israel at this point is repugnant.

    4. When you hear someone worrying about nukes, you can count on them being right wingers. That is the excuse the right (Trump et al.) has been giving for bombing Iran, so the threat must be magnified to justify the violence. Those of us on the left are not worrying about nukes (in Cuba or anywhere else). DG keeps insisting he is a Democrat, but like Somerby he repeats right wing talking points here daily while attacking liberal commenters and supporting Somerby's idiocies.

We are told to not call out racists, but we can call out insanity.

It makes no sense, unless the directive is coming from a right winger.

And that most of the 9/11 terrorists came from Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia is run by demented people that are insane, sick, and repugnantly evil.

Israel made a terrible mistake in allying with Saudi Arabia, and sure enough a few years later Israel embarked on a genocide that would have been unthinkable before they allied with Saudi Arabia.

The country in the Middle East that most poses a risk to America, is and always has been Saudi Arabia.

The sooner we can replace oil with natural gas and renewables, the sooner we can work on making Saudi Arabia irrelevant, which will make the world a much safer place.

    2. From The Hill:

"A wave of Democrats on Tuesday called to remove President Trump from office over his threats against Iran ahead of an 8 p.m. EDT Tuesday deadline for Tehran to cut a deal and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

“Donald Trump is openly threatening war crimes against the entirety of Iranian civilization. 25th Amendment proceedings must begin immediately, but if the Cabinet is too cowardly, the House should begin the impeachment process now,” Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) posted on social platform X, referencing Trump’s Tuesday morning post.

Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) called on the House to begin impeachment proceedings over the post, calling it “completely unstable and perilous.”

“The House must bring up impeachment articles, and the Senate needs to remove a president who wants to commit war crimes. We cannot sit idly by as Donald Trump threatens to end an entire civilization,” Markey said in a post online.

The White House responded by calling the Democrats’ remarks “pathetic.”

“Democrats have been talking about removing President Trump since before he was even sworn into office. The Democrats in Congress are deranged, weak, and ineffective, which is why their approval ratings are at historic lows,” White House spokesperson Davis Ingle said.

Trump posted on Truth Social Tuesday morning that “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again” if Iran does not meet the deadline to reopen the critical shipping channel. That followed his threats over the weekend and on Monday to attack bridges and power plants in Iran, which some international experts warn would be tantamount to a war crime.

“25th Amendment RIGHT NOW! Trump is too unhinged, dangerous, and deranged to have the nuclear codes!” Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) posted in response.

    3. Cont.

"The Democrats pointed to the 25th Amendment and impeachment as possible ways to remove Trump from office.

The 25th Amendment to the Constitution, which governs presidential succession, says that the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet may vote to declare a president “unable to discharge the powers and the duties of his office” and give the vice president the duties of acting president.

A dispute from the president about his capacity to perform the job would then send the question to Congress, which could concur by a two-thirds vote of both the House and Senate.

The vice president and the Cabinet have never before declared a president incapable of serving in office.

It takes a majority vote of the House to impeach a president and a two-thirds vote in the Senate to convict and remove the president — a process that Trump, who has been impeached twice but avoided removal, is familiar with.

“After bombing a school and massacring young girls, the war criminal in the White House is threatening genocide. It’s time to invoke the 25th Amendment. This maniac should be removed from office,” Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) posted on social media.

“This is why the 25th Amendment and impeachment were created. These aren’t policy differences. He is threatening crimes,” Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-N.M.) said in a post. “It’s time to invoke the 25th. But we can’t do it alone—we need our Republican colleagues to do the right thing, for this country and for the world.”

Some Democratic members did not specify the process they would prefer to remove Trump, but just that he should be removed.

“This is a horrifying threat of genocidal war crimes. The lives of civilians and service members alike are at stake here. Congress must stop this war and remove Trump from the White House,” Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) said in a post on X.

Democratic Reps. Summer Lee (Pa.), Andrea Salinas (Ore.) and Bonnie Watson Coleman (N.J.) were also among those who called in posts online to remove Trump over his post.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) did not call to remove Trump from office, but he said, “It’s time for every single Republican to put patriotic duty over party and stop the madness.” Democrats intended to call up a resolution to limit Trump’s war powers in Iran when Congress is back in session next week."

    4. Looks like the Dems are pretty united in standing up to Trump.

However, it should be noted that while The Hill tries to cultivate an image of being in the center, it is in reality a far right element of corporate media, being run by a Trump supporter.

That is why we get nutty framing like this: "some international experts warn would be tantamount to a war crime".

No, it is a clear war crime, that is not in contention.

But good try, The Hill, for trying to sanewash Trump.

  23. Digby quotes a lengthy rundown of the ways that Democrats and Republicans differ, and then summarizes why voters should be supporting Democrats. She points out that even if Democrats don't poll well as a party, the antipathy toward Trump and the Republicans among the majority of voters is driving Democratic candidates to win all over the country, including in red states and districts, supporting the idea of a tidal wave in support of Democrats during the midterms.

Given that Republican voters have finally figured out what Trump is about, the Democrats do not have to be a perfect party with charismatic candidates in order to win in the next election.

The idea that there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats is a right wing talking point.

  25. Trump once again recently falsely claimed that he deserves credit for killing Osama bin Laden, because he supposedly suggested that in his 2000 book The America We Deserve.

What is wild, and it is under-reported, is that there are a couple sentences in that book about bin Laden, except the message is completely opposite of what Trump later claimed.

Those couple of sentences are saying that concerns about bin Laden are overblown and that the government is using bin Laden as a bogeyman; Trump is criticizing a hawkish response to bin Laden, saying it is performative, that bin Laden is not a real threat but a ginned up one.

Trump was arguing against military action, against vilifying bin Laden.

It is wild Trump gets away with nonsense like this, his supporters are in a cult.
