SATURDAY: It's hard to stomach the kind of behavior...

...we wrote about yesterday morning: It's hard to stomach the kind of behavior we wrote about yesterday morning.

In contexts like this, we largely avoid the term "misogyny." We're happy to go with "masculinism"but the mutts they send out to perform on the Fox News Channel behave that way every night of the week.

Blue America's major orgs never say a word about it. This is the imitation of life we've unmistakably chosen.

Who's worse? The mutts they send out every night? Or our lauded high-end Blue elites?

By happenstance: By happenstance, the gods of YouTube song selection sent us this offering on Thursday. It's Maybelle Carter and her three daughters performing Wildwood Flower, which is sometimes described as the song every guitar player learns to play first.

Good God, Maybelle Carter! That could be no one but her!

She got her first guitar at age 13. She married three years later, ended up transforming the way the guitar could be played. For more information, click here.

From there, we indulged ourselves in this favorite very old song, in which we hear a fellerthat feller being the massive star, Hank Williamsmaking a pledge of respect to his lady friend, along with a pledge of perfect equality:

I don't care who thinks we're silly.
We're settin' the woods on fire.

It can be hard for men to get there. The mutts go out and tell boys and young men that there's no need to try.

With respect to Wildwood Flower, we prefer this version of its second verse:

I will dance, I will sing, and my laugh shall be gay
I will banish this weeping, drive troubles away...

A young woman's idol has turned to clay. She vows to restore her vitality.

There are so many things wrong with Somerby’s attitude. Why avoid the term misogyny? Why believe masculinism is reserved for special occasions?

Later Somerby asks who is worse, the press misogynists like Gutfeld or the blue media who ignores Gutfeld? (It isn’t as if the press ignores misogyny entirely.) Obviously, Gutfeld is worse, why does Somerby need to ask?

A grown man who marries a girl at age 16 has no respect for her and both feet of clay. Romanticizing this situation makes Somerby a huge asshole. Child marriage is illegal outide Southern throwback states because it is harmful to the girls who are denied the chance to grow up and choose their own lives.

    1. Epstein seduced his underage girls by grooming them first, but even on a wedding night, sex with a child is still rape because the child cannot give informed consent. What child would willingly agree to cut short her teen years to be a domestic servant (setting aside that some families already treat their kids as such). This is why school attendance is compulsory and paid child labor is illegal, except for those beknighted Southern backwaters. The right is working hard to repeal child protections.

"Child marriage," as you are defining it, is legal throughout Europe, which one can hardly compare to the South when it comes to enlightened attitudes. In most countries there the age of consent is 14 or 15.

    3. The girls who "grow up and choose their own lives" are doing hell of a lot worse than when more of their lives were chosen for them. Epidemic mental illness is the norm for females now.

  3. Trump thinks child sex is ok if you’re a star. Apparently Somerby thinks it is fine when Hank Williams or one of the Carters sings about it He wants to blame poor upbringing but Somerby is old enough to know better now.

  4. Masculinism hurts men too. Look at the mess it has made of Kash Patel.

    1. Let me guess: Kari Lake is also the victim of "masculinism."

  5. In the song, the girl is seduced and abandoned. How does a 16 year old support herself after that, especially if her family throws her out, as is common in fundamentalist families? This is a genre of song that often ends in repentence and suicide by the girl. This is tragic and perhaps spread as a cautionary tale. The man is never punished.

    1. Why daughters are told not to be slutty. The man is never punished because the man can't be pregnant and the man doesn't give a shit about abandoning a one night stand.

    2. The song is about a girl “taught to love” the man who abandoned her. That isn’t a girl being “slutty.”

Bob is on a roll here.
