MONDAY: Who will win those Senate seats?

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2026

There's a chance we might even find out: Who will win the (thirty-five) Senate seats at stake in tomorrow's elections? A new report by the New York Times reports the numbers from a final set of NYT/Siena polls:

Democrats Show Strength in Final Days of Race for the Senate, New Polls Find

Democrats are ahead of Republicans in almost all of the seven battleground states that will determine which party controls the Senate, according to the final set of polls from The New York Times and Siena University before the midterm elections.

The surveys found that Democrats hold sizable leads in Texas, which has not elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1988, and Kansas, which has not elected one since 1932.

To win a Senate majority, Democrats need to defend all the seats they currently hold and flip at least four seats that are currently held by Republicans. It has been seen as an uphill battle because many of the seats they need to win are in Republican strongholds.

But the new polls found Democratic candidates ahead in five states that now have Republican senators and effectively tied in a sixth. They hold leads in Kansas, Maine, Ohio and Texas and a narrow edge in Alaska. They are effectively tied in Iowa.

And so on from there.

Happy Days are here again! But only if the actual voting turns out that way tomorrow!

We humans! Endless time is being burned today with endless prognostication.  Of course, even the most recent polls are already out of date!

Meanwhile, who's gonna win those thirty-five seats?  If we can wait for one more day, there's a chance we might even find out!

  2. We Californians will not know our election results tomorrow night. Our election counts are routinely delayed in order to provide time to finagle results if that proves necessary.

We can see the effects when a delayed count yields a sudden spurt of Democratic votes, as happened in the LA Mayoral primary election.

    1. Yup. There is no way that can happen fucksticks. You live in a very blue state so unless the Dem candidate is very gross, they will win statewide elections. Also use 100% paper ballots that are used to confirm machine counts. Remember when Trump had the guy who surrendered to the Taliban investigate the 3M votes he lost to Hillary in CA? After a couple months they slinked away with nothing. Give it up bitch. Also I didn't miss your dum ass, dumass.

    3. David in California has Zero critical thinking skills. "In Los Angeles County, 51.06% of registered voters are Democrats, 18.69% are Republicans, 23.39% are independents (No Party Preference), and the remaining 6.86% are split among minor parties like American Independent, Green, Libertarian, and Peace & Freedom." Dems have to cheat to win and n LA, sure Jan.

    4. @4:07 - The Republican was not trying to win. He was trying to come in second in an open primary, so as to be a part of the final election. He was running against 2 Dems who split the Dem vote.

Also, the incumbent Dem Mayor had done a particularly bad job of governing. Also the Rep won the debates.

    5. D in C - you've swallowed the Kool Aid in one big gulp. I, personally, don't care for it when anyone makes a claim like California (or anywhere else) "finagles the votes" without any evidence. Speculation isn't evidence, especially from someone who is utterly partisan, and your speculation here is at a conspiracy theory level.
