SATURDAY: "He's still supremely dangerous!"

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 26, 2025

Or so Michelle Goldberg has said: In yesterday morning's report, we focused on a Truth Social post which appeared, late in the night, on Christmas Eve. In that post, the president said this might be the last "Merry Christmas" our nation's many "sleazebags," all of them Democrats, will be able to enjoy.

It struck us as a somewhat threatening post. We wondered how some disordered person might react to such a post.

As it turned out, that was just one of the many Truth Social posts the president issued on Christmas Eve / Christmas morning. To its credit, NBC News ran a news report about the president's blizzard of posts. Its news report appeared beneath this dual headline:

Trump rings in Christmas Day with a flurry of posts denouncing perceived foes and casting doubt on the 2020 election
The president posted on Truth Social over 100 times overnight, also touting his own economic policies and efforts to end foreign wars.

Say what? According to NBC News, the president had posted more than 100 times on that one sacred night! And he hadn't just been denouncing his foes. He'd also been pushing his favorite lunatic claimthe lunatic claim he never stops making about the 2020 election.

So said NBC News, politely describing a blizzard of posts as a mere late December "flurry."

More than a hundred posts, advancing the same old lunatic claims? Could something be (tragically) wrong with this vastly powerful man?

That strikes us as an obvious question at this point in time. Meanwhile, some news orgs continued to count the president's posts, even after NBC News and several other news orgs gave up in exhaustion.

Some news orgs kept counting! At news orgs which treated the peculiar spree as an actual news event, the headlines blared as shown:

Mother Jones:
Trump Spent Christmas Posting Over 100 Times on Truth Social

The Hollywood Reporter:
Trump’s Christmas of Chaos: Hosting a Rebranded Kennedy Center Honors, Over 100 Angry Truth Social Posts

The Daily Beast:
Trump Posts Nearly 150 Times in Unhinged Christmas Day Spree

The New Republic:
Trump Descends Into Paranoid Spiral on Christmas Day: Donald Trump posted more than 150 times—including about Jeffrey Epstein.

Time:
Trump Posted More Than 160 Times on Truth Social in Late-Night Blitz. That’s Not Even His Record

Time said the president had produced more than 160 posts! The Daily Beast and The New Republic stopped counting at 150, then headlined words like "paranoid" and "unhinged" with respect to the president's spree.

(Full disclosure! "Unhinged" is one of the words our journalists use to suggest that something is (tragically) wrong with this manto suggest that something is wrong without directly saying so, and without asking medical specialists to offer their assessments.)

Is something wrong with President Trump? All along the watchtower, the biggest news orgs in Blue America have agreed that they must never ask.

Regarding this latest explosion of strangeness, The Hollywood Reporter reported this news. The New York Times has not.

As best we can tell, readers of the New York Times haven't been told what the president did. This is part of a "see no illness" approach this newspaper has adopted all along with respect to the apparent madness of this unending behavior.

Is something wrong with President Trump? If so, that's a human tragedy, as is always true in such situationsbut the story doesn't end there.

President Trump is the most powerful person in the world! Presumably with that in mind, Michelle Goldberg ends her new column for the New York Times with a sobering comment in her penultimate paragraph:

Trump Is Getting Weaker, and the Resistance Is Getting Stronger

[...]

Much of the credit for the reinvigoration of the resistance belongs to Trump himself. Had he focused his deportation campaign on criminals or refrained from injuring the economy with haphazard tariffs while mocking concerns about affordability, he would probably have remained a more formidable figure. He’s still a supremely dangerous one, especially as he comes to feel increasingly cornered and aggrieved. After all, by the time you read this, we could well be at war with Venezuela, though no one in the administration has bothered to articulate a plausible rationale for the escalating conflict.

Goldberg believes that President Trump has lost his struggle for control of the nation's politics. She believes that he's on the way down and that he won't be rising back up.

In that, she may be right. But crazy people sometimes do crazy things when their crazy efforts have finally failedwhen they "come to feel increasingly cornered and aggrieved."

The president is still "supremely dangerous," Goldberg saysand that could be the case. Meanwhile, her newspaper's news division is still refusing to report this president's extremely strange conduct.

They do the same thing on the Fox News Channel! If he really does shoot a man on Fifth Avenue, will the timorous New York Times report that unfortunate fact?

  1. "and casting doubt on the 2020 election"

Say, what? Jeez, you idiot-Democrats sure sound idiotic.

There's no "casting doubt"; the election was rigged, everyone knows it. And neither the President nor anyone else ever had any doubts whatsoever about it.

In any case, Democrat squealing is good, very good. Always good. Yes, Democrats, keep reading President's unofficial messages, keep counting them, and keep squealing about them.

And you Mr. President, keep draining the swamp, Sir. Keep draining the swamp, please.

And so everything goes as it should. Perfect. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

    6. There is no credible evidence the 2020 election was rigged.

Trump got stomped, and by a milquetoast old White man.

Trump lost both the popular vote and the Electoral College in 2020.

Trump downplays the popular vote because in 2024 he only received votes amounting to about 30% of the electorate, he got less than 50% of those that voted, most people voted against Trump and for someone else.

Trump denies signing the Alien Enemies Act proclamation, we still do not know who signed it.

    9. There is no evidence of massive censorship of social media, and none that would implicate a rigging of the election (check out how the far right 5th circuit ruled).

Hunter's laptop was fully covered (it is how you know about it). Comer and the Republicans spent years investigating it and could not find anything corrupt or criminal other than their star witness turning out to be a Russian asset passing misinformation and was then prosecuted.

Republicans are mainly upset about Hunter's laptop because Hunter has a well-sized penis, and Republicans are notorious from suffering from under-sized penises and feeling humiliation about it.

Americans not caring about Hunter's laptop, has nothing to do with election rigging, you are making an embarrassing category error.

Your "proof" seems to be it was rigged by "massive" censorship of social media - you give one example - the Hunter Biden laptop. Why in the world do you think the Hunter Biden laptop story would have affected the election? Seems you are latching on to a total bullshit argument. Alleged democratic control of mainstream media -? Seems there was a tidal wave of pro-Trump favoritism and propaganda in the pervasive right-wing media and in social media. That dems get "triggered" and start "foaming at the mouth" when right-wing nitwits claim with zero evidence that the election was rigged, assuming arguendo that this is true, provides zero evidence that the election was "rigged." Saying that it is "obvious" the election was rigged or that "everyone knows" that it was are smarmy, dishonest rhetorical devices. The fact is that myriads of people, with valid reasons, find Trump distasteful. Guy seems to spend hours a day posting on Truth Social and squealing about Jimmy Kimmel, Rosie O'Donnell etc etc.

Putin blackmailing Trump is destroying America more than Trump's Adderall addiction.
Putin is blackmailing Trump to gut the country's infrastructure and make life more precarious for it's people. Trump's Adderall addiction is only leading to goofball shit, like his delusional Truth Social postings, and naming things after himself before he dies in the next 6 months.

    3. The rationale offered, drugs, is not supported by facts. Venezuela does not supply fentanyl to the USA. The ingredients for making fentanyl come from China, are assembled in Mexico and transported across the border from there, mostly be American citizens. Cocaine is grown in Colombia and similarly transported to the US across the border, not on ships. The boats shot down by Trump were small and didn't have enough fuel to reach the US, even if it was proven they had any contraband aboard.

The attacks on Venezuela are not about drugs but about removing Maduro from leadership and securing more rights to oil for US companies. It is extortion. There is a secondary benefit to displaying military strength to threaten other nations and to allow Hegseth and Trump to feel powerful and play with dangerous toys. I hope the International Court will follow up on this. Trump can be imprisoned after his term ends, following an international trial, as Duterte was.

They've reported the war against Venezuelan fishing boats. There's no reason to believe that they wouldn't report it if he shot someone on Park Ave. with a handgun or automatic weapon. 12. I lived in CA and I've seen the wind blow over a semi-trailer trying to exit the freeway. The winds come off the desert and are hot, causing fire danger from both the heat, the dryness of vegetation and the winds that spread the fire and make it difficult to fight. In CA, prisoners are routinely used to do fire prevention maintenance as well as fight the fires. We don't revile them as prisoners but appreciate that they help (it is voluntary).

Before I moved out of CA, there was a wildfire in which several people died. The staging area for fighting it was across the street from my house, in a regional park with an artificial lake for fishing. That was where the water-dropping helicopters were refueling. It was caused by a family that used fireworks (illegally) at a gender reveal party in adjacent Oak Glen.

No dykes were involved. In my experience, fires were occurring in Southern CA before any dykes were appointed as fire chiefs, and they were difficult to stop back in those days too. Global warming has increased the fire danger, wind strengths, high temperatures, and difficulty fighting such fires. For one thing, you cannot put water-dropping helicopters and fire-fighting planes into the air with 100 mph winds. We were lucky as many people were evacuated as happened in the LA fires.

These fires are no joke to Californians. They are also not a suitable political issue to malign dykes, fire chiefs, firefighters, Newsom, the LA City Council, or any of your other targets. People in LA are still suffering the aftermath and don't find it funny, much less a good way to discuss city planning in a place where everyone has been affected and all have joined together to repair lives and rebuild. Assholes who want to use the fires to assault those who we are grateful to, are not appreciated, regardless of their political perspective. Whoever thought this would be a good issue to troll on doesn't understand LA and doesn't know that this is alienating people not gaining you any votes or support.

And, a reservoir should not have been left empty for renovation for years. These fuckups were a failure of government at all levels: the Governor, the Mayor, .... In particular, the fire chief should have been screaming about them.

      Delete
    15. David, this is like saying that there should be precautionary policies against hurricanes. There are. There are many precautionary policies (and even laws) implemented in LA to deal with fires (also earthquakes, tsunami, drought). Your recollection that policies were never implemented is preposterous. There is no way to shake your fist at nature and tell it to stop doing dangerous things. Just as there is no way to prevent large hurricanes in FL and up the East coast.

You are also incorrect about reservoirs being left empty and about failures of govt. You guys keep bringing up incorrect info to malign those with the misfortunate to have this latest fire happen on their watch. The expectation that anything could have been done, that wasn't done, is wrong and unfair to those who fought this particular set of fires.

"Seven months before fire swept through the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles, the city’s water managers were formulating a plan to revive an old reservoir to temporarily boost the area’s limited water capacity. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power was exploring the option because the neighborhood’s main reservoir — the Santa Ynez Reservoir — had been taken offline as a result of a torn cover, which officials had begun preparations to repair early in 2024. The repair project was still months away from completion this January when the fire broke out, and with the reservoir empty, firefighters ran short of water in fighting the blaze. Emails released to The New York Times under public records law show that the city had searched for solutions to rectify the monthslong supply shortage but, despite lengthy discussions and preliminary preparations, failed to correct the problem in time."

    16. David perhaps thinks the city managers should have known that a major windstorm would happen in January (not usually hot or windstorm season) and that they deliberately ignored the threat in order to, what, watch TV and play video games? What does he think they were doing? The troll suggests they were busy being dykes. It is hard for me to see how that could cause reservoir failure.

"Crowley passed the firefighters' exam in 1998, finishing in the top 50 out of more than 16,000 tests taken.[2] She joined the LAFD in 2000. During her time at the department, she has held the roles of firefighter, paramedic, engineer, fire inspector, captain, battalion chief, assistant chief, fire marshal and deputy chief.[5] Crowley became Los Angeles' first female fire marshal in 2016.[2]" Wikipedia

Nothing there about being a dyke, but lots of applicable firefighting experience. The idea that she might be underqualified is laughable.

To become a firefighter in Los Angeles, an applicant must carry the weight of a human body up a ladder and down again. For a woman to do that, she is going to be large and strong. That is going to earn her the title "dyke" no matter what her sexual orientation. Wishing her to be more dainty and hetero is trying to have things both ways, but of course we know that the trolls and conservatives who attack female fire-fighters aren't wishing they were straight but wishing they were gone. The smarter and more capable a woman is, in such a position, the harder men fight to prove them incapable. Of course she is being scapegoated now.

Why does Somerby think these current cuts and incompetence are not threatening to us citizens? Does he think the only danger is something like nuclear war? Those fishermen are dead even without that kind of crisis, and they weren't doing anything to deserve it.

It is as if Somerby is saying things will get really bad if no one recognizes that Trump is mentally ill. But things are already really really bad. It bothers me that Somerby doesn't recognize that.

Meanwhile, the worse Trump gets, the more likely he will unable to function well enough to do more damage. He may decompensate to the point where he becomes a vegetable or a childlike dependent on those around him, or a wandering mumbling person with no memory who cannot keep a thought in his head for the time needed to do anything to anyone. At that point, the danger will not be from Trump but from those around him. If the wrong people decide to seize control of the government, we will need the remaining Trump appointees to prevent a coup.

I don't believe Somerby is aware of and worrying about the most likely dangers. Old people become less effective, including at causing harm, as they succumb to dementia. Courts appoint guardians to protect the old person himself and his assets (to keep them from being stolen), not to protect the world from the harm caused by senile grandpas. But Stephen Miller is a danger. Pete Hegseth is a danger. Kristi Noem is a danger. Because these people are not senile but are definitely mentally deranged, and young enough to act upon their mental problems. And Somerby never mentions their names. That seems odd to me. If you're going to be paranoid, at least pick the right enemies to worry about.

  12. Who would cut FEMA in the face of worsening climate-related natural disasters in our country? Maybe this is the supremely dangerous thing Somerby thinks Trump is doing? It sure seems like that to those of us who live in places prone to disaster, such as Los Angeles.

  13. Trump couldn't find any pretty 20-year-old hookers in Manhattan or Southern Florida. There simply were not any around. So he had to join Epstein's rape ring where they fly around with 20-year-olds on different types of planes before raping them. But now, we have the flight logs and they have been caught raping.

    1. How would using a hooker be more legal than creating a party girl from scratch?

You are perhaps implying that the accusations against Trump are untrue because they seem unlikely. The victims gave testimony against Epstein, Trump, Maxwell and others. The flight logs corroborate details of their testimony. They don't prove rape alone.

Suggesting that Epstein or Trump could have used a street hooker is like suggesting that Melania would buy a purse at Walmart (in their view).
