What does a broken toy sound like? Has an incoming American president assembled a playroom of broken toys?
If so, what does a broken toy sound like?
Using seasonal language, a broken toy can also be described as a nut-ball or as a fruitcake. By long-standing cultural agreement, we don't discuss the possibility that something may be clinically or diagnostically "wrong" when such fruitcakes appear on the scene and start announcing their possible state of disorder.
What are the sounds of a broken toy? On Friday, one such import announced himself all over again, on this occasion with this tweet about a certain type of immigration visa:
UNNAMED BROKEN TOY (12/27/24): The reason I’m in America along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla and hundreds of other companies that made America strong is because of H1B.
Take a big step back and FUCK YOURSELF in the face. I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend.
So the thoughtful import said. The same toy has posted a strong of similar messages in recent days, denouncing (and cancelling) the "contemptible fools" who disagree with his viewpoint, while excusing the astonishing tweets of one of his employees.
This morning, a trio of Stepfords on Fox & Friends Weekend tried to chuckle their way past this fellow's suggestions that his critics should give themselves a facial. Shortly before the recent holiday, the same fellow had been featured in this news report in the New York Times:
[Broken Toy] Expresses Support for Far-Right Party in Germany’s Election
Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and a close adviser to President-elect Donald J. Trump, on Friday endorsed Germany’s far-right party, a group with ties to neo-Nazis whose youth wing has been classified as “confirmed extremist” by German domestic intelligence.
“Only the AfD can save Germany,” Mr. Musk posted to X, referring to the anti-immigrant party, the Alternative for Germany, by its German initials.
In doing so, he is wading into German politics at a moment of acute turmoil, and at the very same time that he has wielded his influence in Washington to help blow up a bipartisan spending deal that was meant to avoid a government shutdown over Christmas. The German government recently collapsed, resulting in early elections, which are planned for next year.
[...]
“Literally is a neo-Nazi party. Not even joking,” Adam Kinzinger, a Republican former congressman from Illinois and longtime critic of Mr. Trump, posted on X.
Senator Chris Murphy, Democrat of Connecticut, said in an interview with CNN, ”This is not normal.” He added, “What Elon Musk thinks tends to eventually be what the president of the United States thinks. And if the United States takes an official position in favor of neo-Nazis in Germany, I mean, it is absolutely catastrophic.”
Are Kinzinger and Murphy correct in their assessments? We've reported, you can decide!
("This is not normal," Murphy said. Under prevailing rules of the game, no explicitly clinical suggestions are allowed.)
For the record, only this particular toy could make Steve Bannon seem like a sensible moderate, but that's what Bannon has seemed to be in recent days. Other observers in Red America have said or suggested that the toy needs to get off the ketamine.
Elsewhere, the conduct and the personal histories of this and other seasonal helpers are being sanded down in high-end mainstream descriptions. One minor example:
As best we can tell, the New York Times has never reported Tucker Carlson's detailed account of the way he was attacked and bloodied by unseen demons as he slept in a giant pile with his wife and their four dogs, presumably under their buffalo hides. In fairness, the Times did report Carlson's claim that recent hurricanes were probably being caused by the nation's abortion policy.
As for the incoming president himself, the second page of his Christmas message thoughtfully went like this:
UNNAMED INCOMING PRESIDENT (12/25/24): ...Page 2: Merry Christmas to the Radical Left Lunatics, who are constantly trying to obstruct our Court System and our Elections, and are always going after the Great Citizens and Patriots of the United States but, in particular, their Political Opponent, ME. They know that their only chance of survival is getting pardons from a man who has absolutely no idea what he is doing. Also, to the 37 most violent criminals, who killed, raped, and plundered like virtually no one before them, but were just given, incredibly, a pardon by Sleepy Joe Biden. I refuse to wish a Merry Christmas to those lucky “souls” but, instead, will say, GO TO HELL! We had the Greatest Election in the History of our Country, a bright light is now shining over the U.S.A. and, in 26 days, we will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
For better or worse, our Christmas messages sound like that at this point in time. For the record, that Greatest Election in the History of our Country is routinely described as "a landslide" on the Fox News Channel, with no actual numbers allowed.
Under current arrangements, all the Stepfords agree to take part in the sifting of elementary facts.
For better or worse, many tribunes are nervously glancing about, trying to sand the edges of this change in this nation's weather. For better or worse, this has been a widespread strategy for a very long time.
Our question would be this:
Within the playroom, is it possible that some of these slightly unusual toys are starting to feel their oats? If you disagree in some way with these seers, should you get a facial too?
Ha ha.
ReplyDeleteTrump wants more immigrants in the country, because Americans are losers.
Couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of bigots.
"You can't out train being retarded"
Delete"That pretty much sums it up", Elon Musk referring to the fucking sucker morons wearing the red hats.
Do you mean train out? Out train doesn't make any sense and sounds like something a non-native speaker of English might mix up, or a bot.
Delete11:35: Did you not notice that was in quotation marks? It was a direct quote by a X user and which Sir Elon approved of.
Delete**********
Musk was responding to a post in which an X user wrote, “So basically the right split into two factions, tech right and right right, and the tech right is like ‘hey we need h-1b visa people to do the jobs,’ and the right right was like ‘no you need to hire americans,’ and the tech right is like ‘but you guys are retarded,’ and the right right is like ‘well you don’t train us,’ and the tech right is like ‘you can’t outtrain being retarded,’ and while all this was going on we learned some people *really* don’t like Indians.”
https://deadline.com/2024/12/elon-musk-trump-h1b-visa-skilled-workers-1236242886/
***************
Sorry to break it to you magga morons but these billionaire vultures really don't think much of you all.
So, are you suggesting there are no troll-farmers or bots on X? The word "out-train" makes no sense there either, even if it was a quote here. There is no such thing as "out-training" mental retardation or even bad habits.
DeleteIdiocy abounds in this discussion. Training is exactly what you do with developmentally delayed people, so that they can learn to take care of themselves and perform useful work. Even highly skilled workers are trained at some point.
This sounds like another version of the argument over whether Americans will do underpaid work now being done by immigrants. It doesn't matter whether the workers are in programming sweatshops or agricultural fields or food processing plants or restaurant kitchens. Calling Americans too lazy to pick fruit just because they prefer other work doesn't solve the problem that excluding all migrants will hurt our economy. This is just another version of problems arising from clearing all migrants out of our workforce. People from India are not uniquely smart, just uniquely willing to work for too little pay under bad working conditions.
Listen up. Why don't you ask president musk what outtrain means in that context, since he enthusiastically replied, “That pretty much sums it up,” Musk wrote on X on Thursday evening. “This was eye-opening.” He seems to understand what the X fellow was talking about.
DeleteAnonymouse 11:58am, are you “tech right”? How many anonymices here are that? Or ‘tech left’? Those billionaire vultures aren’t clamoring for you Americans either.
DeleteAnonymouse 12:34pm, there are a lot of American conservatives who have said that if we’re going to open the borders it should be for doctors, scientists, inventors. Musk has been involved in politics for probably a year and a half.
DeleteCecelia at 12:55 PM - no. I don't know. Don't know that either, sorry. They really aren't . Good point.
DeleteCecelia at 12:59 PM - I don't that that there's any argument to these observations.
DeleteI am not going to ask an immigrant how to interpret the English language. Having a lot of money doesn't make someone right about anything or more knowledgeable or skilled. If anything the directionality is from being skilled to getting money, not vice versa.
DeleteInternational students still come to the US to obtain graduate training in a variety of fields. Then they stay in jobs created by our tech industries, which are run by Americans. The objection to these visas is that they undercut pay in the jobs they are recruited for, while Americans train them on-the-job. There is no magic to being from Asia. That is stereotyping of the same kind as when these tech bros call American workers lazy or stupid. They are just exhibiting their racism in a different way, much as Somerby and David in Cal do when they claim that Asians (Jews and Mormons) all out-perform American students, without talking about the cultural or family differences involved.
Meanwhile, true MAGAs want to get rid of all darker skinned people. White supremacists were not less racist when they imported black slaves, just because they were giving those people jobs. Look at the pay (or lack thereof) and working conditions. Slavers made the US so dependent on slave labor that a war was fought to maintain an economy the South could not sustain on its own workforce.
Somerby and the right wing have been attacking the so-called elitism of college education. Yet it is college that enables home-grown US workers to compete with these underpaid immigrant tech workers. Undermining the US education system and bringing in second-class citizens to do knowledge work and skilled jobs is a way to destroy the economy we have built, in which our tech innovation and advanced technology have enabled us to stay at the forefront of developed countries. These tech billionaires think globally and are not tied to American success. They don't care whether they are making money in China or the US, and they especially don't care whether they destroy the basis for our economic success, if they can make more money by undermining it.
Anonymouse 1:22pm, Americans of asian descent are magical enough for anonymices to have argued that NYC elite high schools should ignore their test scores on behalf of admitting more black students. These kids blow everyone else out of the water. There’s your “msgic”.
DeleteAccording to standardized test scores, the top American students are equal to or out perform top students from other countries, same with top White students relative to Asian or other ethnicity students.
DeleteRace or ethnicity have no determinative role in mental capability, and meritocracy is a myth. What’s not a myth is racial oppression; Blacks are not genetically or culturally inferior to others, but they have suffered more oppression, and by a mile. Educational reforms that help ameliorate oppression are reasonable and a key aspect towards societal progress.
Blue America blows everyone out of the water as far as gdp goes.
Unfortunately America has a unique culture where most of its citizens live precarious lives to the extent that it is nearly impossible for one to reach their potential; however, this circumstance is preferred by the wealthy, who mostly acquired their status through privileges like generational wealth, and happenstance, because it maintains their unearned and unjust dominance.
No, they do not blow everyone else out of the water. They work hard and do well as a group (so their mean is higher on the NAEP) but genius is genius, no matter what the ethnicity. A slightly higher NAEP score doesn't blow away the top scorers, whether white or black or Hispanic.
DeleteIn the dispute over NYC high school admissions, only 8 black students were offered admission. If you increased that number by 50%, they would be only 12 students. It is ridiculous to assume that only 8 black students would be able to benefit from attendance at such a school. The problem is the use of an unvalidated screening test that unfairly was keeping black students out of the school, not that anyone wanted to remove all of the Asian students and replace them with black kids.
India deals with this kind of problem by establishing quotas for each of the castes, proportionate to their representation in the population. In NYC, Asian students were gaming the admissions by attending middle schools that explicitly prepared them for the admissions test. that was not occurring in the neighborhood middle schools attended by black students. How is that fair?
A more fair admissions process allows the use of other indicators of success beyond a screening test, especially given the impact of "stereotype threat" (a form of test anxiety) on black test scores. Teacher recommendations, awards and projects completed, indicators of strong interest and hard work, are supplemental to test scores and should be considered for black kids, which would result in a few more being admitted. No one is saying throw out the test scores, but advocates do ask that other sources of info be considered.
Calling this magic ignores that such talent is distributed across all races (and genders) but has a better chance of being visible when kids have support and their ability is nourished. That happens less for black kids than for Asian kids or lower income white kids.
12:55, the two factions were defined as "tech right" and "right right:. We know where you fit, don't we?
DeleteI don't fall into either one of those two categories. Not to worry, I didn't start this fight, I'm just eating my popcorn from the peanut gallery.
Cecelia says it's racist for blacks to demand more seats in science high schools because everyone knows that only Asians can do science. It's magic!
DeleteTo give Black kids a fair chance, we should build our economy on something other than science. Why not basketball? We’re already moving in that direction.
DeleteAsk yourself why there are so few black players in baseball. It has to do with the costs associated with the pipeline from little league to being scouted. Parents of black kids cannot afford the training. Parents of most white kids cannot afford it either. Watch the film King Richard. There are similar realities affecting black kids who are talented and want to do science.
DeleteIf this were a meritocracy, the pathways to success would be more accessible to all talented kids and not closed to those without money or connections.
@1:22 I said Asians (Jews and Mormons) all out-perform Caucasian American students ON AVERAGE, because it's true. I didn't talk about the cultural or family differences involved OR the possible genetic differences because I don't know enough to say what the cause of the difference is.
DeleteThat’s right, you don’t. But you don’t judge individuals based on group means (averages). All groups have genius and talent.

ReplyDelete"UNNAMED BROKEN TOY"
What's with you being a retarded moonbat idiot again, Bob? Elon Musk sounds like a great guy.
What is a moonbat?
DeleteSomerby likes to pathologize people to explain away their weirdness. Musk sounds and behaves like someone with high-functioning autism. Lots of guys like that succeed in tech fields.
DeleteMany of those that are on the spectrum that succeed in tech, have acquired expertise in their field, sometimes due to unique abilities to focus on tasks others view as tedious; however, that is not the case with Musk, who is likely on the spectrum - the guy struggles to complete a coherent sentence, but has no real expertise - he can’t code, he is not an engineer or scientist, etc. Musk has become rich the old fashioned way, by selling snake oil funded by tax dollars.
DeleteYes, Mr. Soros, if you say so.
DeleteBut at least he's not a currency speculator. So, how bad could he be?
A reference to Soros is an anti-semitic reference to a global Jewish conspiracy. It arises from the alt-right and Q-Anon. It is offensive and doesn't belong in a civil discussion.
DeleteWe're watching what happened the last time, their ideology doesn't let them ever take a break from calling themselves victims of oppression. They aren't politically allowed to have a political agenda not reactionary to someone else. That's called being a RINO or a traitor or something.
ReplyDeleteHondas are better than Teslas.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the opposite of telling a working person to pull themselves up by their bootstraps? Trying to strangle yourself with your own halo?
ReplyDelete"Using seasonal language, a broken toy can also be described as a nut-ball or as a fruitcake. By long-standing cultural agreement, we don't discuss the possibility that something may be clinically or diagnostically "wrong" when such fruitcakes appear on the scene and start announcing their possible state of disorder."
ReplyDeleteThis is how Somerby normalizes his own behavior here at his blog. First, he tries to pretend that calling people broken toys is a thing, when it is not. This is his invention and it is dehumanizing to refer to people as objects, but he does it anyway. Second, he pretends that there is a convention not to acknowledge mental illness when that does not exist either. The problem here is that Somerby is no diagnostician and doesn't know whether the bad behavior on the right arises from greed or political lust for power or some mental illness. He knows nothing at all about human psychology and largely uses mental illness to excuse illegal and immoral behavior on the right. That is an inappropriate use of psychiatric labels.
If Somerby knew something about mental illness, he might have a point (as Mary Trump and Bandy Lee did), but he doesn't. Meanwhile Somerby's fanboys object when the same approach is applied to Somerby but find it A-OK when Somerby does it himself, largely to excuse Trump and now his minions from their wrongdoing, including illegal acts.
This is not political commentary. It yields no insight into the behavior of right wing miscreants. It has the danger of making it seem like highly unusual and wrong behavior is normal or OK, or understandable, when it is not. This is an aberrent time in our history. What Trump has been doing is far from normal and is dangerous to our country. We need to be opposing Trump's actions (no matter why they are happening) and there is no excuse for his behavior. Nor is there any excuse for Somerby's wrong-headed essays, like this one.
Somerby is a moonbat.
DeleteAnonymouse 10:48am, you have it backwards. We “fanboys” (liberals and conservatives) have objected to Bob’s “broken toys” and “lost boys” pejorative labels consistently. We have accused those monikers of being too cloying and pretentiously pitying and think that Bob should have the cojones to go ahead and call people jerks, idiots, and militants when he thinks they’re being jerks, idiots, and militants, regardless of their party. On the other hand, you want all Bob’s disdain to go one way and to be as over-the-top as possible in his indictments. Your beef is that he’s not filled with bile and hatred for the people that YOU despise.
DeleteApparently a right winger being triggered begets word salads with hate spewed as dressing. Interesting.
DeleteI have never seen Cecelia or PP or AC/MA or JC or DG or anyone else here but me object to Somerby's "lost boys" and "broken toys" language. Cecelia is telling lies about this.
DeleteThe broken boys and their lost toys are destroying civilization.
Delete10:48 is too on the nose, triggering the typical pearl clutching from the usual snowflakes, lonely and lazy.
DeleteCecelia isn’t lying. She’s just not cognitive.
DeleteAnonymouse 11:32am, sure you haven’t.
DeleteAnonymouse 11:44pm, if Bob had used the descriptors of “lonely and lazy” it would have sent Anonymouse 10:48am into six more paragraphs.
DeleteAnonymouse 12:01pm, you’re an anonymouse among anonymices. You share one tiny brain and gnaw on one piece of cheese.
DeleteMore name-calling. That seems to be your only response to anything anyone says.
DeleteAnonymouse 1:08pm, speaking of “not cognitive”…
DeleteCecelia at 1:11 PM - really.
DeleteI’m cognitive enough to know the plural of mouse — mice, not mices.
DeleteThe plural of anonymous is anonymi and has nothing to do with rodents, typically called vermin. Cecelia thinks it is cute to call people she disagrees with a lower species. There is a long history of doing that on the right.
DeleteAnonymouse 1:34pm, the plural of anonymouse is not mice, it’s mices (pronounced mee-sez).
DeleteAnonymouse 2:08pm, I didn’t depersonalize you. You’ve done that willingly and for reasons that advantageous to your war on this blog.
DeleteYou can’t get lonelier than this sad man that bizarrely calls himself “Cecelia”, his desperation is palpable.
DeleteI’m going to go cry, it’s so sad.
Anonymouse 2:19pm, fine. I’ll hold your beer.
DeleteI don’t drink.
DeleteDehumanize does not mean the same thing as depersonalize (the word you used). I have done neither to myself, but you routinely dehumanize other commenters here.
DeleteDehumanize definition: deprive of positive human qualities
Depersonalize definition: deprive of a state of personal identity
Those who oppress others tend to dehumanize them in order to mistreat them in ways that are not permitted to treat human beings. This is done by calling them animals, depraved, unworthy of human status and/or equating them with species humans tend to eradicate, such as vermin. It is what the Nazis did to the Jews, or slaveowners to black slaves. That is why it is wrong when you do it to anonymous commenters here.
Depersonalization is a psychiatric term referring to someone who feels removed from their bodies, their identity, or from the external reality. It is part of dissociative disorders and requires treatment. You are not qualified to diagnose that in others and it is not the reason why you disagree with commenters here, nor is it a symptom anyone here has been displaying. You made a mistake and picked the wrong word, while trying to sound smarter than you are. (Or perhaps it is because you are a non-native speaker and get confused sometimes due to a limited English vocabulary.)
You need to stop insulting everyone all the time and either join the substantive discussion or go away. You are an annoying to other people and have contributed nothing here except to clutter the comments with noise.
Somerby appears to think it is cute to rename Musk and Trump "broken toy" but it is not cute. It needlessly conceals the identities of these miscreants from casual readers who need to know what their president Trump and Musk, an unelected billionaire influencer attached to Trump like a limpet, are saying and doing. Why conceal their names? Is Somerby afraid of being sued too? Is this the effect of Trump's threats on minor bloggers like Somerby?
ReplyDelete"Within the playroom, is it possible that some of these slightly unusual toys are starting to feel their oats? If you disagree in some way with these seers, should you get a facial too?"
ReplyDeleteWTF is Somerby talking about? This loose disguised language applied to no specific situation is unhelpful when it is not only clear what is happening in our country, but why. Others are talking about our situation plainly.
Not only did Musk abuse his visa when he arrived in the USA, but so did Melania. No one seemed to care about that during the election, when Musk was jumping around on rally stages trying to make his body look like an X. Now it is time to pay the piper but the MAGAs didn't understand the bargain Trump made with devils like Musk. They got played, as usual.
But why has Somerby written a piece today that is so murky no one can tell what he is talking about, much less where he stands on anything?
There is nothing "seasonal" about any of this. This is who and what Somerby helped elect president, and we are stuck with him for four years, because assholes like Somerby just couldn't find much enthusiasm for Harris. Welcome to hell. Somerby still thinks this has anything to do with media. It doesn't. This is about watching redistribution of power as Trump and our new oligarchs divide up the spoils and plunder and grift. If we are lucky, we may get our nation back in 2028. That depends on whether we can mount an effective resistance and whether Trump's greedy minions can work together to make us into an autocracy or insist on fighting over the spoils. There is a lot at stake right now and Somerby is mumbling about toys.
Well said.
Delete"Under current arrangements, all the Stepfords agree to take part in the sifting of elementary facts."
ReplyDeleteSomerby is using the term Stepford to refer to people in the media, but are they really "Stepfords"? Of course not. Somerby's vision of how the media operates is wrong. He has never made a convincing case for it. His game here is to undermine trust in the press so that people have no alternative source of information when the right wing tells lies over at Fox.
In fiction, the Stepford Wives were robots created by husbands to replace their murdered human wives with subservient slaves. That image doesn't work as a metaphor for the press. It worked fine in the context of gender politics, but Somerby neither understands nor wishes to discuss women's lib, so he borrows and distorts in order to put across his own view, which he never really explains. If the press has become robots, who is directly them, to what purpose? Crickets from Somerby.
The press is not monolithic and it is not operated only by one set of billionaires. Somerby never talks about the emerging independent media. He lied about Harris's interactions with the press and ignored the way the NY Times joined forces with Democratic big money donors to push Biden off the ticket. Somerby calls Gutfeld a bad comic, but says little about his furtherance of propaganda, his main crime. But Rob Schneider is a thoroughly OK guy, says Somerby who met him sometime in the distant past.
Calling the press Stepfords is not media criticism, not analysis, not even intelligent or apt. It is lazy and confused, just like Somerby himself.
One presumes that "sifting of elementary facts" refers to election results, since that is what Somerby was just talking about -- the way Fox calls the election a landslide without any numbers.
DeleteWhy has the press been reviewing those results? To try to figure out why Harris lost. There is no doubt that Trump won and that it was not a landslide or any kind of mandate for Trump. The review has been to figure out who did and didn't vote for Harris in order to know why she didn't win instead of Trump.
Somerby promised to list a bunch of reasons why a reasonable person might have voted for Trump. The real question has always been why reasonable people did not vote for Harris in sufficient numbers to keep Trump out of office. Somerby offered no explanations for that, other than that the left is despised by the right and it is our own fault for that (too woke or too willing to call a racist a racist, or too willing to support women who claim to have been abused, or something like that, Somerby claims). "You know how you get" and we let him get away with that non-explanation. Somerby himself showed us how Harris lost -- by damning her with faint praise and repeating every right wing attack on her, from being a ho and sleeping with Willie Brown (before she was a politician) to smiling too much and being too positive while not talking about the terrible terrible border situation and the cats being eaten by migrants, like Trump did. We heard Somerby's daily complaints about Harris, but nothing about how Musk and Trump are just broken toys -- that is for now, when we cannot do anything about the oligarchs who bought and paid for the presidency.
The "elementary facts" now are that MAGAs are realizing they got screwed along with the rest of the country. With some lucky, Musk and Ramaswamy and the others may realize that letting Trump start WWIII by invading any foreign country is not good for their looting, and they will restrain him. If not, then we will be in the position of the Jews in WWII, looking for a way out when the rest of the world hates us for electing Trump.
Spot on. Thank god for the filibuster.
DeleteThis is what Somerby might sound like if he had guts and smarts:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.jefftiedrich.com/p/maga-goes-to-war-with-itself-over
Too bad Somerby has neither, so he is just another paid shill for Trump, like Rob Schneider and Gutfeld (except not as talented). I'll bet he thinks of himself as a broken toy too. Otherwise he might have become as famous as Louis C.K.
The AfD could be both Neo-Nazi and the only hope for Germany. Angela Merkel was thoroughly respectable, but she took two wrong-headed actions that may be fatal to Germany as we know it today. The first was shutting down the nuclear reactors, making Germany dependent on Russia for their energy. That's like putting Germany's testicles in Putin's pocket.
ReplyDeleteThe second mistake was encouraging the immigration of large numbers of Muslims who do not want to adopt German culture. It would take rapid, radical action to fix this problem. I agree with Mark Steyn that it's too late, in Germany and in Western Europe. Values like freedom of speech, equality for women, and religious tolerance are irretrievably gone IMO.
Closing those nukes was a major blunder, for sure. Maybe the Muslim immigrants will grow up; we’ll see.
DeletePlans to shut down Germany's nuclear power plants were in play over 20 years ago. Merkel, a physicist who had previously been pro nuclear, shut down the last three reactors in 2022, that supplied 3% of Germany's electricity, after assessing the Japanese disaster as a turning point. Germany has the will and intelligence to get through this period, albeit with more coal use than they want now, and no, they will not be kow-towing to Putin. They are less friendly to him then the US president-elect. Meanwhile, it's a good time to be a neo-Nazi when Jews advocate for them. Or is that only one MAGA in Cali?
DeleteHaha. I knew it was only a matter of time before DiC started explicitly supporting neo-Nazis. He really is the very definition of a "good Jew".
Delete@12:45 - yes it’s strange for a Jew to defend Neo Nazis, but the alternative is worse imo. In recent years the number of antisemitic actions taken by Muslims dwarfed the number taken by Neo Neo Nazies.
Delete"The AfD could be both Neo-Nazi and the only hope for Germany." DIC is a Jew and is suggesting it would be good to give literal Nazis political control to deal with a certain segment of German's population. This is the up-is-down world Trump and his enablers have created.
Delete"I agree with Mark Steyn that ...blah, blah, bla - fucking - blah."
DeleteIn other news, DiC's latest Gish gallop is full of shit.
"Values like freedom of speech, equality for women, and religious tolerance are irretrievably gone IMO."
DeleteAu contraire, David. When a woman from a Muslim country emigrates to Germany, she gains the right to vote with citizenship there. Women gained the right to vote in 1918, but it was suspended under Hitler's Nazi regime. Women in Germany today vote in equal numbers to men. How then are Muslim women losing equality in Germany?
Not just Muslim women. I’m predicting that all women in Germany will lose rights in the future as Islamic culture becomes more dominant.
Delete" yes it’s strange for a Jew to defend Neo Nazis,"
DeleteNot strange at all for you, DiC. Totally in character. I don't call you a fucking fascist for nothing you know.
Women will lose the right to walk around half-naked in public.
DeleteLike men do?
Delete"yes it’s strange for a Jew to defend Neo Nazis, but the alternative is worse." Have you ever heard the term "false dichotomy," numb-skull? As if the only two options are putting Nazis in charge or putting Islamist terrorists in charge.
Delete"In recent years, the number of antisemitic actions taken by Muslims dwarfed the number taken by Neo Neo Nazies." And therefore . . . let's give neo-Nazis control? And therefore, neo-Nazis, if given power, would never abuse it and target Jews and other minorities? It can't be said often enough: you're a moron.
David’s not a moron. He suffers from Palestine derangement syndrome.
DeleteMike - yes Neo Nazis and Muslims may unfortunately be the only two alternatives in Germany. Ideally there would be a liberal party that would oppose Muslim immigration as vigorously as AfD. But I don’t know of such a party.
DeleteBTW Musk defended AfD. He wrote
Delete“The portrayal of the AfD as rightwing extremist is clearly false, considering that Alice Weidel, the party’s leader, has a same-sex partner from Sri Lanka! Does that sound like Hitler to you? Please!”
The middle class loves fascists. MBA degrees elected Trump.
DeleteHah! It’s good to know that same sex orientation precludes racism.
Delete@7:24 — Sri Lankans are Asians. Hitler did not have a significant other of a different race.
Delete@7:24 — Also “The Nazi regime carried out a campaign against male homosexuality and persecuted gay men between 1933 and 1945. As part of this campaign, the Nazi regime closed gay bars and meeting places, dissolved gay associations, and shuttered gay presses. The Nazi regime also arrested and tried tens of thousands of gay men using Paragraph 175 of the…”
DeleteDavid supports a kinder gentler neo-Nazi.
DeleteDavid is in the prediction business now? I hope he'll be as entertaining as the Great Criswell.
Delete1933 was over 90 years ago and has no bearing on tolerance for homosexuality in the 21st century. The Central Council of Jews in Germany labels the AfD an "extremist party" that "embodies Nazi ideals".The AfD's party leader is a woman. That wasn't the case in 1930's Germany either. So what's your point?
Delete"I'm predicting all women in Germany will lose rights as Islamic culture becomes more dominant." In your Islamophobic fantasy world.
DeleteDIC, a Jew ironically, shows how easy it is for a fascistic movement to seize power.
DeleteThe solution to attacks on Jews by Muslims isn't to put Nazis back in power. It's unbelievable that that even needs to be said.
We are not in a play room and our leaders are not "broken toys". What is happening is deadly serious and should be portrayed and discussed that way. Words and actions have consequences.
ReplyDeleteWhat's so deadly serious here, the number of H1b visas?
DeleteThe subversion of Trump's MAGA campaign by unelected oligarchs. They are the ones who want those visas, not the MAGAs. It should be troubling to you that our government is being reorganized around what tech billionaires want, not what the conservatives much less the MAGAs elected Trump to do. These billionaires are not right wing but libertarians pursuing self-interest. The right is waking up to what they have done and the conflict will continue while Trump gives the billionaires whatever they want. He just gave them their visas despite the howls of MAGAdom.
DeleteYou need to have your head examined, 1:05 PM.
DeleteDoes Reich also need his head examined? Read this before deciding:

DeleteRobert Reich explains who is who among tech billionaires in Trump's new government, and what their goals are:

Reich is a very smart person, but I found his column fundamentally flawed. He makes some very powerful accusations against a certain group of people, but presents virtually no evidence. The column is an exercise in guilt by association.
DeleteA direct quote of how Peter Thiel defines politics is evidence.
DeleteElon gave VP felon a quarter of a billion. If an ATM spat out a dollar a second it would take about 8 years to get to $250M. You don't seem to process things well David. Always these weird twists of facts and logic to fit your delusional world view.
DeleteDonald Trump's return to the White House will have plenty of Americans breathing a sigh of relief, and with good reason.
DeleteImmigrants getting their jobs, will give them more time to breathe.
DeleteIf an ATM spat out $1 every second, it would take 1 million and 45 thousand years to reach the U.S. national debt of $33 trillion. That’s like starting the ATM during the Ice Age and it still not finished dispensing today. I'm not saying Musk isn't engineering a fascist takeover that will leave a majority of us dead or in camps.

Delete"If an ATM spat out a dollar a second it would take about 8 years to get to $250M."
DeleteWell, sure, but when have you ever seen an ATM that dispenses one dollar bills? Every ATM I've ever seen puts out twenties, so in reality it would take less than five months!!!1!
Sorry. I'm just trying to get into the spirit of the galloping not-at-all-the-pointness rampant in these comments. Am I doing it right yet?
Elon gave VP felon a quarter of a billion. At $1 per roll, $250 million worth of toilet paper buys 250 million rolls. With each roll providing about 55.5 uses, that's enough bathroom trips to sustain the entire population of Greenland for over a half a millennium. Always these weird twists of facts and logic to fit your delusional world view.
DeleteElon gave VP felon a quarter of a billion. With a pack of 36 costing around $10, $250 million buys well over a billion high quality maxi-pads. If dispensed by the government to local public high schools boys restrooms and used exclusively on their vaginas, that's enough maxi pads to last (checks notes) for all of eternity. Always these weird twists of facts and logic to fit your delusional world view.
Delete"What does a broken toy sound like?"
ReplyDeleteIf it is Chatty Cathy, you pull the string and it says nothing. Most toys say nothing when they are broken, as oppose to making a car vroom vroom noise or a train chugging or whistle when not broken.
Here's the problem with Somerby's question. There is no way that a broken Chatty Cathy says something different when it is broken, such as "give me a beer" instead of "play with me". So it isn't the ugly messages of Trump and Musk that make them broken toys. If they said nothing at all, the analogy would fit. But that isn't what they are doing.
Further, when you buy a new toy, you expect it to work in a particular way. When it is broken, it disappoints those expectations. But are Trump and Musk really saying things different than what they said before the election? Musk isn't. And Trump was hanging around with Musk well before election day.
So what is the basis for considering either of them broken? They are what MAGA elected, in all of their functionality.
Perhaps these are "bad toys" not broken ones? They seem to be "as designed" not "failing to meet specs". People with H-1B visas will understand this distinction.
President Musk: Trump, you ok? I’m going to bilk these American suckers and losers out of their money and fund Nazis around the globe.
ReplyDeleteVP Trump: Yeah yeah yeah go ahead, do what you want, I said the same to Putin too. I’m just glad I'm not going to face personal responsibility for my corruption and criminality, and I can eat my Big Mac instead of throwing it at the wall.
President Musk: I hear ya Trump, I too have been under federal investigations, as many as 20! So I too am happy to avoid facing my corruption, and glad I can count on tax payer bailouts as I run all my stupid business ventures into the ground. Fuck firefighters, and fuck kids with cancer!
VP Trump: Here, here! Don’t forget to remind Netanyahu to finish the job, and to cut/privatize Social Security while you’re at it.
President Musk: Who knew two pasty fat fucks with tiny dicks could rule the world!
President Musk: Can I have Kimberly Guilfoyle now that everyone else is done with her?
DeletePresident Trump: You blew it with Laura Loomer.
President Musk: Like you blew it with Melania? Heh heh heh, just teasing bro. Have another Diet Coke. No, no, don't push that button. It's the other one.
ReplyDeleteMusk derangement syndrome is the best Democrat party idea since 'dementia Joe is sharp as a tack and conducting “Socratic dialogues” in the Oval Office.
Musk derangement syndrome unavoidably leads to Democrat victory; no question about that.
Someone is deranged, but it isn't the Democrats:
Delete"Former National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien explained President-elect Donald Trump's plan to "extract the minerals and oil" from Greenland by making the territory "part of Alaska."
Greenland is separated from Alaska by the land mass of Canada. It makes more sense to say that Alaska and Russia should be joined because they are only separated by a very small amount of water. Someone should take up a collection and buy these guys a map.
A globe.
DeleteSo then, Soros-bot, you're on board if it's not part of Alaska? If that's your biggest issue, I'm sure former National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien will be happy to accommodate you and other moonbats.
DeleteDenmark is part of NATO. NATO is pledged to help any member that is invaded.
DeleteThis is how Trump can start WWIII, except we would be the bad guys.
This isn't about how close Greenland is to Alaska, but whether a country like the US should invade another sovereign nation just because the US has an oil pipeline in the artic in one of its own states.
Trump has never been good at geography. Remember when he referred to the nation of Africa and was making up country names during his last term? We do.

ReplyDeleteMexico Creating App for Migrants to Send Alerts
December 29, 2024 at 9:05 am EST By Taegan Goddard
Mexico is launching a smartphone app that allows Mexican migrants to warn relatives and instantly alert the nearest consulate if U.S. immigration agents detain them, Axios reports."
Good for them!
Those of us who are American citizens but have Spanish surnames or look kind of brown-skinned might want to have a similar app handy. Joe Arpaio wasn't fussy about checking citizenship when he began locking people up regardless of citizenship. But then Trump pardoned him.
DeleteJimmy Carter has died, one hundred years old.
ReplyDeleteDonald Trump's outright contempt for Republican voters is something all great Americans should aspire to.
ReplyDeleteWell over a decade ago I met a woman who ran a tire outlet, who complained about her inability to fill a spot for a master mechanic. The salary at that time was $90k. I knew a tennis pro at a private club who bragged that he made the same amount. Google the average salary of an engineer in the US currently: $69k. This varies by state. In California it's $102k, in Texas $92k, as examples. Engineering is a difficult major, not unusually involving additional education after 4 years, in a masters program. By these measures, it can hardly be said that engineering is monetarily incentivised. A cyber security degree will commonly yield a starting salary of over $100k. A nurse practitioner makes over $100k. So the solution to this problem, according to the richest man on Earth, is to hire cheap labor from overseas to continue to drive down the cost of home grown engineers in this country..
