Barack Obama in chains: Even as we sat here typing, the sitting president offered this:

Trump Shares AI Clip of Obama Being Arrested After Tulsi Gabbard ‘Coup’ Claims

President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated video showing former President Barack Obama being arrested by the FBI after his intelligence chief accused the Democrat of leading a “years-long coup.”

The TikTok video, posted to Truth Social, shows Obama being approached by agents and handcuffed in the Oval Office before appearing in an orange jumpsuit behind bars, all soundtracked with The Village People’s hit song and Trump favorite, “YMCA.” The manipulated footage repurposes clips from Obama and Trump’s 2016 White House meeting and twists Obama’s real quote, “no one is above the law,” into the video’s ironic punchline.

The post came just hours after a Sunday announcement on Fox Business by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who accused the Obama administration of plotting to “usurp” Trump by deliberately manipulating intelligence on Russian interference in the 2016 election.

And so on from there.

David Gilmour did the post at Mediate. This weekend, even as we Blues kept discussing the previous topic of the moment, the sitting president and his soldiers were hurrying ahead to this.

Say goodbye to the previous topic! Presumably, Gabbard is back in her leader's good graces. Also, even as the zone keeps getting flooded, this may start to signal the shape of a very ugly long fight.

It isn't clear whether Somerby thinks we Blues should be keeping up with Trump's attempts to distract, but I don't see why we must be driven by Trump's agenda and not our own.

I believe the best way to take down Trump is to continue to investigate and talk about his illegal activities with Jeffrey Epstein. This is Trump's weakness, because he is guilty and because even political partisans cannot argue in favor of child sexual abuse.

So, what are we supposed to be moving on to? Obama is a big boy, there is no evidence against him, and he can protect himself. The same cannot be said of the young girls who Trump attacked throughout his adulthood.

    1. Here's my nickel's worth. If we chase the "topic of the moment" we'll forever be a step behind. Today it's Gabbard's silly charged. Last week, it was Epstein's birthday card.

So, I think you're right that 'we Blues" need to set our own agenda. I understand Our Host to be making a similar observation.

    2. That Epstein birthday card is not a distraction, it IS the topic. We are tolerating a rapist in office. It needs to stop. The birthday card is Trump's confession.

I don't see Somerby urging we Blues to set our own agenda. I see him avoiding deserved criticisms of Trump in order to focus on trivialities like Gutfeld.

    4. Quaker - Good idea, but what should the agenda be? Trump's agenda took most of the items off the table: illegal immigration, government waste, men in women's sports. Gaza war. Ukraine war. Strengthening NATO. Ending reverse discrimination. Taking various benefits away from illegal immigrants.

The Dems pretty much achieved their traditional agenda: heath and welfare benefits, ending discrimination against blacks, etc. One big thing remains for the Dem agenda: the enormous and rapidly growing national debt.

    5. The Republican ranks are currently filled with elected leaders who have engaged in some of the worst corruption and crime we have ever seen in this country.

One of our main agendas should be to see these Republicans brought to justice.

This is not the observation Somerby is making.

    6. It's the WSJ that wrote about his special birthday card to Epstein; the "Blues" were not involved in this. With that said, Dems should step away from the Epstein blowup and let MAGA devour itself over this, insomuch as possible. By getting involved the Blues are just giving a convenient target for Trump to misdirect the ire of his bat-guano insane cult.

    7. @1:11 and Ilya - Your suggestions involve attacks on Trump and Reps. Whether or not the Epstein and corruption accusations are valid, they're not the kind of issue that directly affects the American people. Can you think of potential Dem issues that do directly affect the American people?

    8. Go fuck yourself, Dickhead. The rule of law directly affects every citizen. Fuck yourself straight to hell.

    9. Your suggestions involve attacks on Trump and Reps.
Huh? It's his own cult that's attacking him. My suggestion is that Dems stay out of this. You're a tad bit confused on this account, David.
The issues that affect American people? Sure, I can think of some:
      - People being kidnapped off the streets in this country and send to a gulag without due process.
      - Military being deployed on American soil.
      - Masked ICE agents snatching people, including American citizens.
      - Wanton grift and corruption, including unilateral imposition of tariffs.
      - Cutting Medicaid. Despite of your dissembling about the "illegals" receiving Medicaid, that's just plain false.
      - Building a concentration camp.
      - Doing nothing about bloodshed in Gaza or Ukraine (what happened to "peace on day one"?).
      - Dismantling of government institutions, e.g. CDC that were doing important work.

Now, will everyone become immediately aware of the disasters that Trump's administration is wreaking on this country? No, it'll take some time to shake out.

"One big thing remains for the Dem agenda: the enormous and rapidly growing national debt."

It's Republican presidents and Congress who have exploded the debt. Why isn't this on THEIR to-do list, David?

      Delete
    11. I totally agree Quaker. The Reps are blowing the debt issue. I would love to see the Dems propose a long-term plan to deal with it. Something more than just blaming the Reps. Although the Republicans do deserve plenty of blame.

Each and every time Dems propose raising taxes or letting a tax cut expire, the GOP is right there to demagogue the issue.

Spare me your concern trolling about the Dems' agenda.

      Delete
    13. I agree Quaker. The Reps deserve plenty of blame. But the proposed tax increases are not a solution. The deficit is around $2.5 trillion per year. The tax increases proposed by the Dems would reduce the deficit by only $200 to $300 billion — less than 1/8 of the deficit.

      Delete
    14. If one examines 45 years of history and has just a tiny bit of intelligence, one would find the means to solve the debt is to elect Democrats. If you want an economy pump, and debt dump, elect Republicans. Thank God Dems have gotten in there to largely correct or stem the bleeding. And as always, fuck you fascist David.

      Delete
    15. Under President Biden the national debt increased by $8 trillion.

    16. Ilya - that's an impressive list of problems. What's needed now is the proposed solutions.

    17. "Under President Biden the national debt increased by $8 trillion."

And we got something for it. Bailed out of a recession, and better infrastructure. What do we get for Trump's tax breaks? Better limos and foam parties.

      Think, for once.

Hold on, DIC. When Musk was cutting weathermen and scientists and peanut paste to save the lives of starving kids, you were all for it because it would reduce the defict. In fact you were "thrilled".

Now all the sudden you want big solutions or why bother? You really are MAGA.

      Delete
    19. "Ilya - that's an impressive list of problems. What's needed now is the proposed solutions."

Here's a proposed solution: Trump should stop doing those things! And his party should stop supporting him, and toadying to him at every opportunity.

And people like you should stop throwing up your hands and saying, "Gosh, how can we stop ICE from kidnapping people off the streets?" as if this was some unfathomable natural occurrence beyond any human control.

  4. You can tell that this meme of Obama in chains is a right wing, bigot's fantasy because powerful people do not get taken away in chains when arrested. Their attorneys make an appointment for them to surrender, no handcuffs required, no embarrassing press photos.

Who are such memes made for? People who hate. In this case, the depiction of Obama in chains is the fantasy of bigots who want to ship black people back to Africa, as they are doing symbolically with detainees. We are regularly seeing pictures of brown and black people being sent to countries where they have never lived before, in Africa (Libya, South Sudan, Eswatini). Now this meme very obviously appeals to Trump's fantasy of shipping Obama back to Kenya, undoing his presidency.

So, this is race-baiting. Somerby doesn't mention that.

    6. I am on your side, not the deranged cult side. Today I am not smoking anything. Every now and again the dispensary sells $40 - 14g bags of shake, with THC about 17%.Pretty damn clean, no seeds and only the tiniest of sticks. But not really smokable. So I have been spending way too much time cleaning out the tiniest of sticks, and turning into pot "flour" by scraping thru a stainless mesh. The internet says to turn into pot butter, or increase potency by baking at 270 degrees F for 40 minutes. I've made brownies since I was a kid. All I do is stir the "flour" in a bunch of honey, add the egg, water, oil and chocolate brownie package and bake in 8x8 glass for 46-48 minutes. Between the fine particle size and length of baking - and residual cool down heat, I am not too worried about the THC being potenticized by heat; as evidenced by the length of this post. With a near half ounce of 17% flour I would not eat more than 4-6 grams - maybe 1/2" x 1/2" bite for a couple hours before ingesting more. We are chronic and 12g is pretty strong.

  7. Somerby has been clear, he thinks our society is too punitive when it comes to certain personal failings (this includes Trump's horrible crimes and corruption, you know, because Trump is merely delusional - Brother, please).

Interestingly, alternatively, Somerby is relentless in his attacks on Blue America, blaming them for Trump and most of what ails us, primarily because Dems refuse to capitulate to Republicans on issues that Somerby seems to care about, such as capitulating on race, sex, gender, immigrants, etc.

Somerby wants Dems to adopt his personal views on these subjects, and then, and only then, all will be right...hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Somerby may be surprised, but the fact is nobody cares about Trump going after Obama, and everybody still cares about Epstein and why Trump is hiding his involvement with Epstein.

And let me tell you, this is fucking fun, watching all the Republicans squirm and twist.
