...and with one entire group: Returning from the medical shop, we learn that President trump has now said this about CNN and the New York Times and the air strikes on Iran:
PRESIDENT TRUMP (7/8/25): That mission was a work of art.
[...]
[The pilots] landed, and they were cheered. But the sad thing was, they were cheered and one of the pilots said:
“You know, we were a little concerned, because when we got out, we were told that, on television, they were reporting that we may have missed our targets. Sir, we hit every target. That’s what I do for a living. We hit every target.
“In fact, when I saw—when we dropped, when the bombs hit—a yellow haze came over the horizon that I’ve never seen before. It just lit up the whole horizon, brighter than the sun. It was like looking into the sun.”
He goes, “We hit our target, because you know what that was that was exploding.”.
And—but they were a little downbeat because they listened to that fake CNN reporting, and the fake New York Times—they worked together to try and say that it wasn’t perfect.
They couldn’t say they missed. All they could say is, "Maybe it wasn’t perfect."
And you ought to fire that reporter immediately. You should fire her. A real fake.
And so I just want to congratulate those pilots. And a lot of people don’t like bringing things like that up. I always like confronting, because otherwise the public doesn’t know that you’re a bunch of crooked people.
To review the videotape, see the Mediaite report. Concerning the statement, we'll say two things:
First, something is wrong with that person. We regard that as a human tragedy—as a tragic loss of human potential.
We regard that as a human tragedy. But also, something is wrong with an elite mainstream press corps which has agreed to disappear that fact and to avoid that topic.
For better or worse, the entire press corps has taken a dive—except, perhaps, for George Conway. Everyone we Blues are told to admire has agreed to take this dive.
We blues do not admire the corporate media.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing entertaining watching the end of The American Experiment with Democracy is watching little Marco squirm while Trump gish gallop's away with his special brand of stupid.
ReplyDeleteThis seems like a bad idea in view of the recent tragedy in Texas:
ReplyDelete"On Monday, June 23rd, the Department of Defense announced that it would "stop ingesting, processing, and transmitting data essential to most hurricane forecasts," from three satellites. The Defense Meteorological Satellite Program satellites to be turned off are F-16, F-17 and F-18. They know the data is essential, but the DoD is doing it anyway.
The next day, NOAA put up a service change notice to all users, including those monitoring the Atlantic skies at the Hurricane Center."
They still be up there. They just be turning off features. Why? Jewish Space Lasers!!! Fess up DiC, your tribe knows the truth!!!
DeleteAs I pointed out a few days back with reference to GeoStorm, there are right wingers who are so ignorant they think weather control is a real thing, that Democrats are attacking America with Hurricanes, Tornados and now flooding.
DeleteThis is a lack of education. We need to get a handle on this quickly before the right goes off the deep end and attacks all science. The amount of destruction they are already doing is the tragedy, not Trump's loss of potential.
When did the schools stop teaching about what makes weather?
From Joe Perticone:
Delete"The morning after the flood, while officials were still scrambling to understand the scope of the devastation, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) announced that, alongside Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), she would soon be introducing legislation that “prohibits the injection, release, or dispersion of chemicals or substances into the atmosphere for the express purpose of altering weather, temperature, climate, or sunlight intensity. It will be a felony offense.”
“I have been researching weather modification and working with the legislative counsel for months writing this bill,” Greene added. “We must end the dangerous and deadly practice of weather modification and geoengineering.”
Meanwhile, Kandiss Taylor, a Republican candidate running in Georgia for the House of Representatives this cycle, declared the floods to be fake.
“Fake weather. Fake hurricanes. Fake flooding,” Taylor posted on X. “Fake. Fake. Fake.”
She didn’t mean to say the floods didn’t happen—she appears to intend “fake” to mean “artificial” rather than “false,” although frankly it’s hard to be sure. “If fake weather causes real tragedy, that’s murder,” she wrote in another post.
At least one Republican isn’t buying it. In a press conference after the floods, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) told reporters, “To the best of my knowledge, there is zero evidence of anything related to anything like weather modification.”
“And look, the internet can be a strange place,” Cruz added. “People can come up with all sorts of crazy theories. What I know is [the] reality is that a whole lot of Texans are grieving right now.”
Cruz would do well to note it’s not just the internet where people believe such things. They do across the Capitol, too."

Under Greene’s legislation, is it illegal to put carbon dioxide in the air? Because that changes the weather.
DeleteYes, I too heard about terrible carbon dioxide, from Our Lord Autopen.
DeleteIran is important, but most people in the US think that the govt's failure to respond in extreme weather emergencies is more important, especially when so many people die in situations that could have been prevented if the govt had done its job.
ReplyDeleteI do not understand why Somerby is not only repeating Trump's attack on the media but helping Trump distract away from the failure to warn people of rising flood waters, even with 3 hours notice. Those who usually coordinate with local emergency services were fired by DOGE so that response was hampered by insufficient staffing just when a 100-year storm arrived -- one that was predicted but the weather info was not acted upon because the guys who did that job don't work there any more.
I'm sure Somerby would normally care about a bunch of school girls swept away, but he has his talking points and they say distract, misdirect, and cover up, like they usually do.
Step 1 -- find a story on another topic.
DeleteStep 2 -- say "there is something wrong with Trump"
Step 3 -- proclaim Trump's obvious disability to be a tragic loss of human potential
Step 4 -- blame the blue or mainstream media or blue America (or George Conway) for the same stuff, even though no evidence or examples or support is offered of blue people doing anything similar or similarly egregious.
This is what Somerby does every day. The only thing that varies is how much he refers to Robt Frost, Bob Dylan, Wittgenstein or Sacred Homer in the process.
Anonymouse.6:51pm, have you asked for your money back?
DeleteDo you give refunds? Whoever pays you isn't getting their money's worth.
DeleteAnonymouse 9:34pm, I’ll take that as a no, Bob isn’t charging you a penny. You voluntarily put yourself thru torture. So the next logical question is who has locked you in here?
DeleteYou don’t get to be an idiot in life just because no one is paying you. You Republicans seem to be transactional about everything. There is more to life than money, especially to relationships.
DeleteI come her just to read Cecelia’s comments.
DeleteAnonymouse 10:14pm, my point is that it’s utterly obvious that nothing here is transactional. You’re not owed a good blog, let alone one you agree with.”This is what Somerby does every day…” Okey dokey. What you see is what you get. Every Day. Every single day is Groundhog Day for you. Your choice.
DeleteWe all have the right to express our opinions. It is what comments are for.
DeleteCecelia makes sense.
DeleteTrump is no longer famous -- he is infamous.
ReplyDeletelike el guapo
DeleteWhen Trumps quotes someone who supposedly had talked to him, he often includes the word "sir", as if to emphasize how others show him deference. To me, it always sounds like he just made up the story
ReplyDeletePeople in the South do use Sir and Ma'am as a form of address, such as at Starbucks or McDonald's, "do you want fries with that Sir?" In the West, they use the word "bro" instead.
DeleteTrump isn't from the south.
DeleteMAGA is Southern culture. Trump lives in FL which is South. Trump is the one telling "Sir" stories. It sounds fake to those of us in the West because no one says "sir" here.
DeleteNo, Trump lives in Palm Beach. I have lived in Florida and gone to college in Florida. Palm Beach is not the South.
Deleteto 9:34...It's not because Trump used the word sir that makes it sound fake...
DeleteI don't know about the loss of human potential. Trump certainly has risen well above what a typical conman and grifter achieves. The loss, however, is ours. Maybe that's what Bob means: the loss of life, education, natural resources, and a myriad of other things that will occur because of Trump.
ReplyDeleteHarold Meyerson describes the military sweep through MacArthur Park yesterday:
ReplyDelete"On horseback, with armored vehicles, Trump’s troops stomp through L.A.’s MacArthur Park.
Yesterday morning in Los Angeles, Donald Trump’s deportation agents staged an operation that was part Stormtroopers and part Keystone Kops. They made a military sweep of MacArthur Park, complete with troopers on horseback and ICE agents in military garb marching in formation, while federalized National Guard soldiers in armored vehicles waited on side streets in case the parade provoked a confrontation.
In fact, just about the only people in the park were small children and child care workers, who were suitably terrified and scurried away. Mission accomplished, I guess."

He explains why this particular area was targeted, points out that no one was arrested and explains the purpose of such a display in an authoritarian state.
At this point only 10% of those detained by ICE have criminal convictions (including property crimes). Obviously Trump lied when he said his sweeps were about removing criminals from our streets. Right wing news sources were salivating over the prospect of ICE arresting Karen Bass, Mayor of Los Angeles. This particular raid was held without any coordination with city officials (ie, no notice). ICE thinks it would be "interference" for her to attend the site and ask what the hell they think they're doing. This is what happens in a Police State.
Was there cake at McArthur Park? I heard there would be cake.
DeleteNice that you've heard of it. Now perhaps you'll care about the people who live there.
DeleteThey live in the park?
Delete@9:32 Maybe someday you won't be a sourpuss.
DeleteChildren were surrounded by tanks.
DeleteTanks. They need to park one in front of DiC's place to ward off the MS-13 that keep him up at night.
DeleteSo the B-2 pilots supposedly flew back to the US, landed and got out of their planes and were told that the television news was reporting that they "had missed their targets"?
ReplyDeleteThat's just nutty.
No one I have read has reported that the bombs missed their targets. Further, the aircraft returned on Sunday 22 June. Reports on the DIA analysis of the damage first appeared on CNN two days later. Trump is entirely making up a set of facts.
And the yellow haze, brighter than the sun? That's a complete fantasy.
The man is deranged.
Noem explained that one of the pilots, with a nail biting habit, became so distraught that he chewed off several fingers.
DeleteMeanwhile sources have it that the Epstein list is sitting on the floor of a bathroom in Mar a Lago but Bondi will not send the feds in to retrieve it, worried that Trump has had 6 months to stash more top secret files there that they might find.

ReplyDelete"First, something is wrong with that person. We regard that as a human tragedy—as a tragic loss of human potential."
And I regard TDS turning you brain-dead a human tragedy.
I don't lose sleep over it, but still. And yes, the mainstream press corps might have something to do with your TDS tragedy. You may want to stop reading and watching all that shit, Bob.
As my 5-year old niece says, when referring to Trump. "You can't trust any guy with hands half the size of mine."
Delete7:43,
DeleteThanks so much for the squealing.
We love it, like Republican voters like rapists running the country.
Squeal, squeal, Soros-trained monkey.
DeleteWhen CNN's Kaitlan Collins asked who approved the pause, Trump responded curtly: "I don't know. Why don't you tell me?"
ReplyDeleteLet's talk some more about President Biden's dementia.
