She comes from way down there: As we mentioned a few weeks back, southwest Virginia coal country is so far southwest that you're out somewhere beyond Oklahoma by the time you finally get there.
Long ago, we used to perform there, at the aptly-named Down the Shaft lounge in the Norton Holiday Inn. Just this afternoon, we're heartened to learn about a new voice who started out in that region.
Her name is Sarah Jones. She's at The New Republic.
We'll suggest that you start with this. This serves as the headline for the short piece:
"Liberals should try not having so much contempt for the poor."
How much more do you need to hear? We strongly suggest that you read it.
After that, we'll recommend her twitter feed. You can just click here.
In reading through those tweets, we learned that Krugman has fallen for the third time. Two days ago, he said it again. Those People "imagine" that we liberals look down on them!
How blind we liberals manage to be! Blind, helpless, natural-born losers.
More on these topics tomorrow: We'll go ahead and quote the other professor now:
"If you're going to mention groups in America, you'd better mention all of them."
