MONDAY: Homan kicks sand in the face of the courts!

MONDAY, MARCH 17, 2025

Musk wants Judge Boasberg removed: In fairness to ourselves, we had planned to fulfill our promise from last week.

We refer to our promise to report on the comically silly recent action in which Pete Hegseth restored the name of Fort Bragg—even as he seemed to acknowledge that the "woke" decision to change the name had actually been right in the first place.

The pseudo-pushback about the name change was comical, pitiful, childish, sad. We had planned to lay it out—but then we stopped by Mediaite and ran into this report on last weekend's action:

Trump Border Czar Tells Fox & Friends He ‘Doesn’t Care’ if Judges Rule His Actions Illegal

Trump Border Czar Tom Homan declared that he “doesn’t care” what judges say about his actions in a stunning moment during a Monday appearance on Fox News.

At the end of a Fox & Friends appearance, co-host Lawrence Jones expressed concern [about] the actions of Homan’s team, who are working tirelessly to deport undocumented migrants—particularly those with a criminal record—from the United States, but are doing so in a manner that has raised serious legal questions.

“It doesn’t look like you’re getting support from the Democrats on this,” Jones noted. “You’re going against the judges now. What’s next?”

[...]

“We’re not stopping,” he concluded. “I don’t care what the judges think. I don’t care what the left thinks. We’re coming.”

His open admission that he doesn’t care about judicial decisions might be the sort of machismo bluster that has earned President Donald Trump’s admiration. But it’s also a rather significant thing to say out loud since federal judges are tasked with interpreting the law and Constitution.

It was a typical moment from Homan. He doesn't care what federal judges say! He plans to just keep on "deporting."

As we noted this morning, Edwin Chemerinsky had largely called his shot with respect to this possibility. One week ago, his guest essay in the New York Times had appeared beneath this ominous headline:

The One Question That Really Matters: If Trump Defies the Courts, Then What?

"If the Trump administration chooses to defy court orders, we will have a constitutional crisis [of a type we've never] seen before," Chemerinsky wrote. After this weekend, it has begun to seem as if that day has arrived.

With Homan's statement, it starts to seem that the die has been cast. That said, we spotted a second report at Mediaite. Believe it or not, we've shortened its endless headline:

New York Post Rebukes Musk for Attacks on Judge Who Ordered Halt to Deportation Flights

The New York Post rebuked Elon Musk, the billionaire advisor to President Donald Trump, over his call for the impeachment of a federal judge who ordered the Trump administration to stop deporting violent illegal immigrant gang members while he reviews a legal challenge.  The Post hammered Musk in an editorial published Sunday night.

Under the headline, “Sorry, Elon: Even deporting illegal gangbangers must heed the rule of law,” the Post‘s editorial board argued that “Elon Musk is way out of his lane in cheering a bid to impeach federal Judge James Boasberg, who’s put a temporary hold on deportation flights of illegal migrant gangbangers.”

While the right-leaning newspaper praised Trump for the idea of ridding the country of this scourge, it also acknowledged the legitimacy of the legal challenge to how he’s doing it.

Sadly, yes! The highly erratic DOGE taskmaster had tweeted his latest erratic view, saying that impeaching Judge Boasberg is "necessary."

Even the right-wing New York Post has now pushed back against that! But the pillars of the traditional culture are being pulled down in rapid succession as the "crazy / nuts" conduct continues.

(Such assertions, by Stephen Hayes and Jeffrey Goldberg on Washington Week, were offered colloquially, of course.)

As recently as a few weeks ago, what Hegseth did with respect to the name of Fort Bragg could still seem almost amusing. The lay of the land is more obvious now—and as of this morning's Morning Joe, we saw no sign that Blue America's journalistic elite has a clear sense of how we got ourselves into this mees, or of how we ought to react to what is currently happening.

(We exclude Chris Matthews from what we've said. This morning, he became the first Blue American pundit in our experience to specifically mention the Gutfeld! show as a nightly part of the assault whih must somehow by turned back.)

The Achaeans are coming over the walls as part of a "night assault." They've been down on the shore for the past ten years, and they're extremely angry.

Indeed, their fury in the face of disagreement is the distinguishing characteristic of their angry, self-pitying cohort. (We refer to people like Homan and Musk, not to the average Trump voter.)

Chemerinsky was afraid it might come to this. Meanwhile, Goldberg mentioned ketamine at the end of last Friday's Washington Week—but who was he talking about?

Who was Goldberg talking about? We're losing a large chunk of time tomorrow, but that's where we're going next.

Tomorrow: Goldberg mentioned ketamine. But who was he talking about?

  6. NOT IN TRUMP’S AMERICA

"When Cooper and his wife bought their home in West Odessa in the heart of the U.S.’s most productive oil field, they knew they were surrounded by tank batteries holding spent fuel or fracking fluid and injection wells injecting that waste fluid back into the Earth.

“I assumed they would be regulated,” Cooper told The Hill, pointing to a tank battery venting invisible, noxious gas. “I assumed somebody would be making sure we were safe.”

It's difficult to confirm because the man in question was put on a plane and taken out of the country and no one knows precisely where he is.

There's a reason the American justice system has long relied on due process, even when it isn't convenient.

      Delete
    4. Good point, Quaker.

I don't approve of ignoring due process, but I think I understand why due process was ignored.

Ironically, biased, power-mad judges like Boasberg encourage the Administration to ignore due process. By acting hastily, the Administration managed to get a bunch of these murderers out of the country. If Trump had followed proper due process, this corrupt judge might have allowed the Trend Agua thugs to remain in the US for months.

on top of that, wildfires swept through Oklahoma and Texas.

it was apocalyptic as fuck, so let’s check in with the president of the United States, and see if he has any words of comfort for the survivors.

that’s right, Little Donny Fuckface went golfing this weekend — just as he’s done every weekend of his second reign. according to the Trump Golf Tracker, Donny has spent over a quarter of his presidency golfing. (28%)

So instead of hiring more crack DOGERs from among the millions of geeks age 19-25, Musk limits his staff numbers such that they engage in work activity under conditions that are known to spawn error.
